id recommend using 45's for bracing but looks good so far. how much power are you running to it? might want to double baffle.

people on ssa really dont give two shits about titles or trophies. if you make a completely subjective claim, and someone calls you out on it, dont get pissed. if you want to add something substantive to the conversation back it up with some real facts or data

sell the hifonics off before it goes boom and get a nice sundown or similar amp if your looking for a change. wether or not you'll notice a difference in sound quality maybe subjective (aswell as in output) but the upgrade in product quality will save you in the long run. -

is it more sq or spl? install dependent, in a sealed box to spec (messed around with stuffing too) it wasn't loud enough for me on ~500rms. now when i slapped it in a nicely build ported box it sounded much better. stayed accurate and had nice output. i cant compare it to anything in the price range but if you give us your budget, music tastes and goals we can help you pick the right sub. -

you might have to contact someone at fi or AA to find out. i own a 12" arsenal myself, good sub for the money imo (although i dont know what the prices are anymore since AA only sells thru dealers) -
Questions about running one sub off of two amps...
lithium replied to imhungnurnot's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
if, individually they make power at 1 ohm, then strapped together they make power at 2 ohms so if they make 1400 @ 1 ohm each, it would be 2800 @ 2 ohms strapped -
Help with speaker selection for a 3-way setup.
lithium replied to Adrian_D's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
I suspected the Trio would extend better than the SLS, so deciding between them is going to come down to how low the midranges will be able to play in the install. To be honest the Discovery series are new to me, the 4" mids definately look interesting, along with the SB Acoustics mids. I'd probably choose the Trio to make things easier in case I need it to extend higher but one thing I'm concerned about is the sloghtly lower sensitivity compared to the SLS. 84db vs 87db @ 1 watt. The midrange was a stab in the dark to be honest. You make a good point with buying a couple midranges and test That's a great mid. The Scan 12m is my favorite 4", but it breaks the bank. In the 3's I'd add the Fountek FR88 & Fostex FF85k. If only the 12m would fit the budget, it's a no-brainer to me after hearing them Narrowing down the midranges... for 3's, the Fountek is probably the choice after reading zaph's review. My friend wants to be different so as much as I like the FF85k it's not on the option list. Also something I read that sounds good, the bamboo cone Tangband w3 : Tang Band W3-1364SA for 4's... Tang band 1337 Scan Discovery 4" Thank you for the help so far guys i think im going to bumb up to the tang w3's this summer (moving the peerless inside for computer speakers). i've read afew comparisons to the ff85k and the consensus was that the ff85k got a little harsh or tinny (not sure what the correct word is for metal sounding...) while the w3 is more laid back. -

i think it goes without saying that the sls 8 is a great woofer, haven't heard the of the other 2 you mentioned tho. here's an idea for testing the midrange (or potentially a fullrange if you decide to drop the tweeter). head to a plumbing store and get some pvc endcaps. use a threaded rod or velco to secure it to your dash for testing. right now my cheapo 10 dollar 3" peerless fullranges are covering the top end just fine. imo a tweeter would only make things more difficult to tune and install.
