Problem is, I don't really feel like I gain much by doing a tablet. Pros - With a staionary connection I can get a usb to digital out.It looks cool.Cons At least a few hundo to implement.lots of custom work to make sure it fits smooth.can't remove tablet. Not sure how much better the audio quality will be when comparing digital out to bluetooth aptx when my main audio source is Pandora. Also, once I set the audio source I don't generally need to look at the phone/tablet. i agree with you're pro's and cons. for a double din its really easy and cheap. but you need to fabricate something so its probably not worth the time.

1.5 din pic is deceiving... move the hvac to that lower panel and put a big ass screen in the dash!

so you need to tap the wire before it goes in the canbus? I guess the issue i had is that i just tapped the wire at the headunit harness. edit. or was it not bus at all? I don't have a canbus connector. Probably don't need the PAC-SWI actually, but for some reason a year ago I thought I did so I bought one. Made it easy though as it had reasonable instructions. Confusing as shit, but real obvious once you get beyond the backwards thinking used to write it. PAC -> Joycon -> PC It didn't work first shot when I had the PAC set to Alpine, but when I switched to Pio it did just fine. One of my buttons is mapped identically though, but that was probably my slip up during the programming of the PAC itself. I haven't figured out what I want it to be yet though so I am not stressed. If I need more I can hijack the cruise control buttons too, lol. Each button has Short/Long/Toggle as well. Makes the alt+tab button sweet. Windows button is necessary too, but long pressed it alt+f4 or closes whatever window you have open. Pretty much between those two Win8 makes a great interface. Using a simple front end that is XML configured outside of Navigation/MiniDSP/HPTuners to take care of everything else...including starting the listed programs. maybe my issue is with the PAC programming as you explained. I had a feeling I was really close to figuring it but ran out of patience at the time.

Any idea how long I should expect my sls 8's to last in a car door. I think i've been running them for >4yr now. Im thinking about picking up some spares next time i see a sale on partsexpress. on that same note, is there a better driver out there? Most 8" subs are too deep and most midwoofers lack comparable displacement.

Only way I can wear grados for longer than 30min was to get these huge foam replacements. Even then the top end is too bright for me on alot of my music.

well if you just need accessory power to trigger the pc to boot up/down than you could use a psu with those features. not sure how the boot off works probably some good info here

Any thoughts on how I could have a momentary ground closure upon powering down my car? The power supply I bought for my carpc can blow me. Momentary ground closure? You want the ground disconnected momentarily? I *assume* it is a ground or continuity switch. Want to turn my pc on. the pins on motherboard which are typically connect to a button on the case (which turn the pc on and off) are just shorting pins. connect those to a momentary switch and you can turn it on whenever. How do I automate a shorting connection upon seeing voltage and as the voltage goes away? no idea. how about wake on lan?

i forget what your pc specs are, or did you go with a nuc? maybe the motherboard wont have those pins....
