looks old haha.. is that a spider on top of the cone? -
Really will be install dependent but usually more cone area wins. + motor force My opinion is the 2 12s thats 24inches of cone area, you should move more air with them. BUT!!!!! THE ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION DEPENDS ON INSTALL! 25% equipment 70% install 5% beer EDIT: Nice username OP wow dude... did they have math at your school? no offence but those subs are round... area of a circle = pie x r^2 so 177 sq inches for the 15 and 2 12's have 226 total square inches of surface area...

get this shit im sure m5 might remember this, but i vividly remember ant telling don (rudy) from SDS that it was basically retarded to sell mlv without the CCF already glued on.... /rant

or stop listen to loud ass music and killing off the rest of your hearing...

you should really make sure his existing enclosure will be ok the for dcon as not to damage them. personally i would like to see u build him one to spec. if your capable.

big midbass and a 3inch fullrange is another option. you would have to find a 3incher that could take some power though.... someone mentioned multiples in an array, but i know nothing on whether or not this would work well. usually running multiples results in cancellation and isn't recommended. advantage here is that you dont have to find a midbass option that has to play too high or make a tweeter play real low since the full range can basically play from ~300 on up

yes you would wire the coils in parallel to 1 ohm per sub and then in series for a total of 2ohms at the amp -
read the noob posting guild lines and comeback with a list of goals, music tastes, etc

lithium replied to gonzala's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
wrong metaphor, its more like buying a Ferrari and driving the speed limit... u never push the car very hard (aka the sub could take more power) but its hell of alot nicer to drive then a Corolla. (aka the higher quality sub produces better sound at the same power, compared to a cheaper woofer) -
this is just an example, not a recommendation of a product, but you could run 1 amps that make power at 1ohm (so 1 amp per sub). there are cheaper and better options then the link provided imo.
-
i think you dont understand how to wire the subs. each sub's vc would be wired in parallel to 1 ohm each. then the subs would be wired in series to a final load of 2ohms. or you can wire the vc in series to 4 ohms and the subs in parallel to 2 ohms.
-
i dont really know because amps that do power at 2 ohms are expensive. See when comes back to join his post He stated them as Dual 2 each how can he wire them at 1 ohm??? he ment wire each sub to 1 ohm individually

he could save some money and do a 12 xcon ported maybe? wait his budget is 200-250.... maybe an Icon or a pair of dcons from ssa would fit the budget better. -

your on a roll with these myths my friend, NO such thing as underpowering a sub. you dont need to run rated power ever. theres plenty of great subs out there. sadly i havent played with nearly any myself -

look man, your getting played by an OLD MYTH! in car audio that ported boxes sound like ass and sealed boxes are better for sound quality. this is more or less complete bullshit. a well built ported box, by well built i mean to proper specs, will still sound good and give u way more output. your probably wondering why ppl use sealed boxes at this point, those that use sealed are either after a difference response curve from their sub, or have a space requirement. (in some cases a sub is really only suppose to be used in a sealed or ported box, for example the fi bl is recommended for only ported boxes... this is because of the woofers design) -

well the 15 would have to be sealed so the biggest your looking is a 12 or maybe 2 tens/2 8s etc. (ported box is a must for output imo) SQ and loud dont really belong in the same sentence, i think you mean your looking for a loud sub that doesn't sound like ass, more or less? in that area id think you should look into fi ssd (not sure what options you should use). maybe stretch out and get an icon in the $275 range. maybe a pair of dcon 10s (if they could fit ported), aswell as those you've mentioned. -
geez is that 3/4 mdf? look like its twice as thick with a box so small haha. great build!

it would be nice if you could post your goals and give a more concise idea of what space u have available as well as a budget. a single 12 like the sa 12 would be a good sub. sounds like your looking for output? i think your looking in the right direction (with the the SA). order a dual 4ohm sub to wire @ 2ohm at the amp for full power. there are other subs out there aswell. check out the ssa store. link is at the top of your screen.
