stock batt will probably be ok, spend the money on nicer gear, install, big three, etc.

flocked my first set of A-pillars tonight, turned out pretty well i think.
-
btw, aux input for the 9855 is like 10 bucks.
-
I know they make an addon for the minidsp that's suppose to combat that when installed in a car. The 9855 only has to two rca output for speakers (front and rear), so I didn't use a tweeter then I suppose that would work. Is there any headunits that are 8 channel with processing? (Since I'll need an additional two for the subwoofers). A-pillars then. I'll look into the peerless you posted. the 9855 has a 3way mode, so you can run fullrange, midbass and sub. just installed it in my bro's car. Alpine PXA-H701 might be able to do 3way plus sub.. not completely sure though

i wont comment on the other speakers you've posted because i dont know much about them. however, im running a 3way active setup as well and ill list for you what im using to give you some more ideas. my budget was much less then yours as well. peerless sls 8's - you can find these on madisound for 50-60 each i think. tang band w4 1337sd, the w4 comes in some other version with different cone materials, this model is the one i ultimately picked. it was only like $40 each when i baught mine, now they're up to 75 a piece.. tweeter, dayton nd20, cheap little thing, cant play down very low but it doesn't need to. the tang band could almost be run full range. hope that helps some. another member has a similar thread, check it out. also check out zaphaudio.com for some driver reviews.

usually when using a fullrange driver you will have to aim the mid on-axis
-
i dont think the aura ns3's can play up high enough on their own. i've run these peerless myself, they sound pretty good. (midbass was sls 8s) another popular driver i've heard the minidsp has noise issues when installed in a vehicle, you could get something like a alpine 9855 for ~150 bucks on ebay.

No. And changing comp sets isn't the best way to get their either. I asked if it was a bad idea, you said no, but I'm assuming you mean no in general to the whole thing. So if I wanted more midbass, instead of mounting fifty speakers on my door panels, what would you suggest. If I crossover the subwoofers higher then it starts to sound sloppy, not as "tight". Simply put, my goal is more midbass. I have the door, dash, and kick panels to work with. Or maybe I should just look for the speaker with the highest RMS rating and give it as much power as I can before it blows. Instead of pointing the kick panel speakers from opposite sides (ex, speaker on driver side point to passenger, passenger speaker pointed to driver.) if I pointed both speakers to the driver? I haven't read a whole lot on alignments... I see JL has a 6.5" subwoofer, JL Audio 6W3V3-4.......................................... Have you considered going active? Considering all the fabrication work you're able to do a fullrange and a hardcore midbass would be pretty sweet considering your goals. Sean's mentioned the idea before and it seems like it would satisfy your goals. Yes I'm starting to consider to it. I'm thinking about: exodus anarchy http://www.diycable.com/main/product_info.php?products_id=538 sls 6.5 http://www.madisoundspeakerstore.com/approx-6-7-woofers/peerless-830946-sls-6.5-woofer-4-ohm/ then SEAS Prestige 4.4" http://www.madisoundspeakerstore.com/approx-4-midrange/seas-prestige-mca12rc-h1304-4.5-coated-paper-midrange/ Legatia L3 HAT http://store.12velectronics.com/products/Legatia-L3-Speaker-Set.html And finally some tweeters if needed. and getting a new amp, some crossover, or maybe a minidsp? I know I'm very strung out and indecisive today, just a bad day for me. i've used these in my car, sounded pretty good. stepped up to a 3way later though. installing thesecurrently in my bro's car, but haven't heard them yet. you could check out zaphaudio.com for some reviews.

How much power can the FI 15&18" BTL really handle?
lithium replied to KennethColeman's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
stick with 2500, you wont hear a difference between 3500 and 2500 -
that's embarrassing

maybe someone else can check the box design for you, but i know you need to add bracing to that box, some 1" wooden dow's for example.

he had one of the coils out of phase. so they were acting against each other. idk what you mean by dangerous?

i picked up a used 9855 for 165 on ebay this summer for my bro. pretty sweet deck if you can get over the slider/glide bar thing.. -
currently you have a dual 2 wired to 4ohms so when you get the dual 1 recone you wire it the same way NDMstang65 showed you to get a final 2ohm load at the amp. edit: but you said earlier you wanted to get a 2nd sub? so if you still want a 2nd sub Dont order a dual 1 recone kit!

pretty sure they always used paper cones, depending on how old your other bl 15 is your new one maybe a new model...

Why can't you wrap them? The flocking is nice, but I don't know how well it will hold up with the sun beating down on it. Check with Donjer to make sure it is UV protected. I have used their product several times, but only to line glove box and console interiors. i cant get the grill cloth to follow the curves without creasing, etc. according to the website, nylon is the way to go, 'Nylon flocking fibers are Durable, Weather Resistant, and Colorfast, making them popular for outdoor use!' Well until yesterday I had no idea what flocking was, but I'm tuned in to see how it goes. ill post the build log soon, the flooding here in PA closed college till tuesday so i have plenty of time lol...

Those are looking good. Why not paint some texture and then paint them to match the rest of the interior ? That's what I plan on doing with my kickpanels. what brand of texture paint do you recommend? im concerned that its going to take me too long to get the pods perfect enough for paint or, with a textured finish, is that not a big concern? and for whatever reason im fucking terrible with spray paint...

so the A pillars im working on cant be wrapped in grill cloth like i planned. so instead of painting them, i thought it would cool to try flocking. anyone give it a try before? rayon vs nylon fibers? here is the site donjer.com color chart im thinking bisque tan should match well. still some sanding to do yet, but you get the idea.

id focus you cash on the front stage, amp them, and deaden the doors.

check the f/s section, something like a Fi BL, ssa Icon, etc can be found at a better value.
