    Where can I buy a 187?

power sounds good. crossing over at 120hz is pretty high. i would think your components should be able to play down to 100 hz pretty well, unless they're smaller then 5.25" or installed badly). i would start the sub at around 80 hz and play around, up and down. underlapping is fine (can explain this more if you dont understand). the tuning of the ported box will determine the response of the subwoofer. for rock and rap i would just follow the recommended tuning. another idea would be to use pvc ports, start out with a 30hz tuning, and raise the tuning by removing port length.

not sure about when they will be restocked but check out the ssa dcon or Fi X subs. they are similarly priced.
  8. tell us more about your current system, install, etc. also what are your plans in the future? active front stage, etc? for example. you can get a nice, active capable, headunit pretty cheap (~150) if you willing to buy used.

2 ported 10" DCONs to replace 4 8" RE subs?

how much space do you have available? might be possible to fit 2 12's which should give you more output over the 10's theoretically.

love the cat driving in the last pic lol.
  11. Thanks for the correction. Most people compared 9887 to pioneer 880prs so are there any new model Pioneers that are active capable... p.s. there's nothing wrong with the alpine it's just that alpine is the only thing i've run and want to switch it up and try something new. umm... totally illogically dude. the 9887 is way ahead i terms of quality and function compared to most "new" single din's on the market. im not exactly sure what the differences are between the 880prs and the 9887 but i doubt switching would be of any benefit. with the 9887 you can do a 2 way plus sub or get the add-on, h701 IIRC, for a 3 way plus sub..

    amp for 2 fi x10"

should be fine with a <1000rms mono block and big three, probably wont be able to crank it though. just watch the voltage, etc. that AQ looks like a decent deal.

    uber budget speaker find

looks like they sold out of 6.5's. keep an eye out in the f/s for a set or just pick up the 5.25's

    $600 small budget setup

also, unless you guys have heard the mb quart components and liked them, i would also look at the aura sound components at partexpress. i posted a mini-review in here edit: looks like the 6.5 aura comps are sold out.... but i found the mb q's you mentioned for a better price http://www.amazon.com/MB-Quart-ONX216-COMPONENT-System/dp/tech-data/B00375LC7K you could still go with the 5.25's if you want to save money, up to you.

if you friend doesn't plan to upgrade later on, you could get away with 4 gauge amp kit, or piece together what you need. i would check on wire from cadence, just look it up on ebay. i recently picked up some wiring from this ebay seller, http://myworld.ebay.com/audiosavings/?_trksid=p4340.l2559. depending on how many amps you will be running. (single 5 channel, two 2 channels, etc) -for example, 4 gauge kit w/ distro's and some 8 guage. , if you run multiple amps you would still need another set of rca's and speaker wire. -monoprice.com is great, http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10239&cs_id=1023903&p_id=2749&seq=1&format=2 http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10218&cs_id=1021814&p_id=2866&seq=1&format=2 for amps, my dad recently picked up a 2 channel aura sound amp from partsexpress. veryyyy good quality amp here. 2 options here: the first is to just get a single 5 channel amp, bridge the components to the first 4 channels (150rms x 2) and get a dual 4 ohm DCON for a 2ohm load on the 5th channel (200wrms). this option would be the cheapest, and require a cheaper, single amp, wiring kit. http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=269-191 second option: 2 amps. if you noticed, two 2 channel amps are offered. considering how little price difference there is between models, i would get (2) of the rpm 2300's which would give you 150x2 for the components and 450 x 1 @ 4ohms to the sub. In this case you would order the single 4ohm DCON! http://www.parts-express.com/wizards/searchResults.cfm?searchFilter=NEW_AURA_OCT11&srchExt=&perPage=25&sortBy=1&layout=list&page=1&srchPrice=&srchCat=15&srchMfg=&srchPromo=&srchAttr=
