Good low end extension from a comp set
lithium replied to SpeakerBoy's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Don't waste money on rear speakers, if he HAS to have them look for something cheaper. Try to find a set with a larger mid bass speaker for the front if possible? Is he not amping these? also, sound deadening -
looks nice, let me know what you come up with in terms of grills for the w4's. i'd like to see someone try making one before i do haha.

clipping does not cause damage on its own. like i said above, there are only two ways to kill a woofer. some reading http://www.bcae1.com/2ltlpwr.htm http://www.bcae1.com/speakrat.htm -

given you budget you could locate some used subwoofer, fi ssd for example, for about that price. expand the budget up to 400 and you could probably pick up a pair of used icons. -

overpowering them + I wasn't watching the clip light on the remote bass knob. I'm going to relocate my remote so it is easily visible From what I've hear from other members, is that those clip lights are inaccurate or useless, idk, maybe somebody can chime in on that one. But mine is on the center console, on the side of my drive shaft, and points up. Its right next to my voltmeter, I monitor both nonstop hehe. Even if it is inaccurate, its still something ya know. there are only two ways in which a subwoofer can fail, thermal failure or mechanical failure. your subwoofer will "tell" you when it is being stressed. or more simply, if you can hear distortion turn it down. -
are you venting them ib or just into the carpet? im hoping it hits 40 degrees again soon so i can redo my kicks also want to redo my A pillars but atleast they're aimed properly. they just stick out too much and look strange haha

terrible information dude. any comparison would have to identical installation. flipping between speakers installed in the rear and speakers in the front doors is in no way a far comparison. -
im planning to build a cheap desk for my room with mdf and 2x4s. anyways, im going to try painting it with plasti dip. i did a test piece the other night and it seemed to coat mdf pretty well. im hoping that it will seal out water but i haven't tested that yet. i might need to do a clear coat or something. i also read that painting on a 50/50 mix of wood glue and water will stop the mdf from soaking up paint like a sponge. haven't tested this yet if you looking for a more durable finish then i would consider truck bed liner (spray can).

the clipping indicator is bullshit. no one should be relying on it. OP, if you want to save some cash then buy used.
-
even for most rap you dont need a tuning that low. low to mid 30's would be more appropriate.

Increasing bass frequency response on bass tube - Pioneer The Pump TS-
lithium replied to EmanAbela's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
i assume the hu heating up is nothing to worry about. if you notice a change in sound quality from speakers (increased distortion) then the hu is getting too hot. double check ground/power connections as well. -

i think you confusing some of the info m5 gave you. mlv is an alternative to lead. do some reading at sounddeadenershowdown.com, great info lead or mlv acts as a barrier. cld tiles reduce vibration of panels polyfill wont do anything beneficial in the doors. polyfill + water = mold I asked him and he said both effects will be present. Why wouldn't lead stop vibrations of the panels? You are adding a lot of weight. I've read whole Don's site. I had no intentions to put polyfill in the doors. But in all other places where there are voids between two metals, as it will be hard to add lead there. Sound and temperature isolation is what I am looking from it. Got the idea from here: http://youtu.be/WemxDv4K57g?t=3m45s your call on the polyfill, not sure if i would go that far in my own car. so the lead would be glued to the panels? i understand that it would add mass to the panels but i would think 25% coverage with cdl tiles would be easier to install. -
