when we're talking large format, your looking at outer diameter about 4 1/8". here's a good place to start. http://zaphaudio.com/tweetermishmash/ many of the small formats wont work for you. simply can't play low enough. i would look at something like the dayton rs28

you will have to run them off channel 1 and 2 to use the xover on the amp. other wise you would need either a passive or active xover.
-
well some new cars have some factory processing built in. why do you ask? are you tapping speakers for signal to an amp?
-
i dont have time to plug in the numbers and shit. personally i'm a fan of the L shaped designs because they are easier to construct and design. perhaps check out these guys for a design if you feel you cant do it yourself. http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/forum/120-dc-creations/

the owner was the 2nd guy to comment on your post... i think you'll have no problem reaching them via email or through the forum.

are you using a mb quartz onx4.125? if you are, then you wouldn't need a passive crossover assuming they will be on their own channel. i dont particully like this idea but if your planning to go active soon then its probably for the best. Variable high-pass filter (60-13,000 Hz, 24 dB/octave) i would probably go with a raw drive from partsexpress or madisound. where will the tweeter be installed? can you fit a large format model?

recommendations for mid-bass speakers or subs?
lithium replied to jordan.guess's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
nothing to do with what your buying. it's all about the install and building the correct box for the subwoofer. i would play around with the idea of using an external port to keep the box volume down. i would put the box behind the passenger seat and run an external pvc/ aero port out the side toward the driver side. figure out the box size and then we can consider what subwoofer could work. off the top of my head i was thinking of a sub like an alpine type r 8 or 10. i know the 8 doesn't have a pole vent, so i wouldn't require air space between the motor and the rear of the enclosure. another question, do you have a floor shifter? -
no need for a super tweeter in car imo, unless you want to go deaf. why dont make some adjustments to you post and turn this thread into something where we could help you assemble the correct front stage to meet your needs. which would include mids, tweets, amps, and processing.

so the speaker baffle with attach to the 5/16" oak? i would replace the oak with 3/4" ply or mdf. be sure to water proof. especially mdf -
In MN 2 dozen bites would mean you were about 3 quarts low on blood. fuck that i bought some fake (walmart) under armour style long sleeve shirts thinking they wouldn't be able to bite me through the material.. so wrong I have yet to find anything short of a welding jacket to be mosquito proof. Bug spray with a high DEET concentration is your best defense. had some 40% deet bug spray.. was spraying it on heavy! lol

evaluate which features you need/want and if it meets those things then get it. -
its a 6 channel amp i would run the speakers off the first 4 channels and the sub off 5/6. try out the speakers you have. add sound deadening to the doors. i would focus on the front speakers. visit the sound deadening section of the forum out.

sup Hop. finally finished finals. one more semester of undergrad next fall! started my summer project tonight. 1980 kawaski 440 ltd. it was actually my mom's. She bought it when she was 18 i think. its been sitting in for 20 year so its going to take some work to get it on the road again. So far i've pulled the carb and tank off.

what processing do you have avaible?

No way to do this easily....unless you spend a SHIT ton of cash. One option CAN make this easier, it's mono Wasn't the point of the minidsp to make it cheap? Cheap with future flexibility. And yes, it's pissing me off. A $10 pot would be fine, but $50. FUCK. so theses wont work? http://www.minidsp.c...ol-pot?sef=hcfp i probably missed something, haha My plan was to use one of those as a master. It'd be the volume control, but I still need "faders" for the channels. One miniDSP will do the processing for some pro audio mids and horns. The second miniDSP will do the processing for the in boat speakers and sub. If I used the miniDSP pots then I couldn't have the sub on loud with only the towers which will be my normal listening environment. Loud for either the rider behind the boat or the people swimming in the water. Not as loud for those sitting in the boat as they will be in close proximity. Then while cruising, towers off and the boat speakers & sub on. Vastly different sub levels. So I could use just the two miniDSP pots and get a normal volume pot for the in boats. The only problem with that solution is if I want an overall volume I'll need another pot on the input to the miniDSP and running ADC with low level input will increase the noise and then when I use DSP on the noisy signal everything is degraded. Can't believe there are no VCA kits available anymore. Fuck me. How about this between the channel signals for fading, http://www.amazon.co...35911245&sr=8-2 WTF did you search for??? I've been looking for fucking days and had just finally settled on the idea of blowing fucking $70 on pots. remote level controller... dam, stefan beat me to it.
