    Working on improving SAX-100.4

This is some sweet news, and just when I thought it couldn't get any better lol.

    Adding Fan cooling to amps

Thanks Can't wait to finally get it in the truck and enjoy the sounds that these amps will help to produce

    Adding Fan cooling to amps

Thanks man Full carputer, least thats the plan lol. Got a 10.4" screen to put into the dash in place of the factory HU, had to move the heater controls but otherwise it should fit without too much trouble along with the slot load dvd drive and a USB hub then got a few more things. Should be sweet when its all done, I fiddled around with the touch screen and front ends when it was setup on my desk and it was pretty sweet. Thanks glad to hear it I figured I should try and make something semi decent with the little bit of room I had to spare. I'll pick up some fans and get them in there

    Adding Fan cooling to amps

Oh no worries there I would never ask you to cover something I screwed up myself, and I know a promise over the internetz is not all that binding but my conscious wouldn't take that. I will try and cool them without modifying them too much as I don't wanna be responsible for messing them up. Least if I keep it wired to 2ohm to a pair of new mags it shouldn't have to work too hard and hopefully stay cool that way too. Here ya go a few pics over the course of the build. I am still working out the final details and getting all the wires run and sorted out so I don't have to pull the entire rack back out to fish another wire through it. Also the red sheet metal above it and below the back window will get finished with the same black carpet as the amp rack to clean it all up. Just happy to now have some nice gear, specially the sundown amps, been wanting to try these for a few years now and hope my amp rack is worthy enough to show off the sweet amps. Maybe one day I can grow up and run a 3000D but thats gonna require a complete redesign of the amp rack lol.

    Adding Fan cooling to amps

I am nearly finished building my amp rack but recently read quite a few things about amps getting hot and going into thermal protection and got me thinking. I know there is very little airflow if any over my amps due to how my amp rack is setup and the amps being right behind the back seat. Has anyone added fans to their amps to try and keep them cool, any tips on how to go about doing this? I was wondering about maybe removing the bottom cover and just aiming a fan like a 80mm or 120mm computer case fan at the innards of the amp, or maybe machining the bottom cover to hold an exhaust fan inside the amp. I figured I could wire them up with a relay off the remote turn on lead and just let them come on when the amps turn on. Here is a picture of the amp rack, its got a 100.4 on the left a 1500D on the right and a computer setup in the middle behind the 120mm fan with the crossovers up top. This will be going behind the back seat in my truck and will get pretty much zero air flow, there is a small gap of about 1/4" on the top and bottom of the amps to allow some breathing of the heat sink but I am thinking it won't be enough. The 1500D will most likely only be wired down to 2ohm for a pair of mags so it won't need to work hard but I would like to keep things cool just incase I change substages and wire it down lower, or a really hot day comes along.
