Yeah, the new DP looks great. Just an update, but I bought a new amp, so when the LI gets ordered, it'll be on it. The only info about it I'll give is 250 @ 4 ohm, 500 @ 2 ohm, rated at 12.5, and it's made in the USA. I'll give an e-Cookie to anyone who can figure it out Kef
-
USA made coils... around 500 degrees. So... HOT AS CRAP. Yeah, I just guessed what happened. Once the LI is in, I'm going to take the IA apart to see what happened. I'll be sure to make a thread with pics so people can see the damage. I was going to wall socket it to kill it the rest of the way, but I figure this would be the better way, since it'll give Nick some insight into what I did to it. Kef

Well, when the old lady gets paid, we are getting a Lethal Injection 15 to replace the now semi-dead 187 we had in the Neon. I've been keeping it a secret from IA and the peeps for awhile now. Killed it with my Kicker KX400.1 playing Decaf's version of Juice Box. I think one of the coils heated up to the point that it unwound partially in the gap. The funny part is, it still plays, just shuts the amp down when I get the volume going (read: above 24 out of 50 volume and -4 on the sub volume). Checked the resistance with my DMM, and it read between .8 and 1.3. IA wants some excitement, they need to update things around here. Their products are great, they speak for themselves. Kef

I'll get some new pics of me with my shirt, my sub, and the vinyl on the car. I love my IA Kef

Mine took a little longer to ship, but I will say this, every single time I've called to IA, I've spoken to Nick, personally. He answered the phone every time I've called, and I believe that's been 5 or 6 times now. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from IA. There's only one thing I can complain about: There's no updates about what's going on at IA. No new product ideas, no new launches, nothing. At least, nothing I've seen. I would like to see Nick be a bit more involved with his audience, since it's us that keeps him in business. Otherwise, keep it up IA. Kef

I will sir. The guy scammed me, so until I hear about my MO from the USPS, I can't do anything. HOWEVER, I am soon switching to a PR setup, single Exodus PR-15, 3.25 tuned to 30 hertz. Should get nice and loud. I've only got 400 watts, and it's more than enough to overpower the 187 in that enclosure. I'll have to be careful since it'll be able to exceed the Xmax at 25 hertz. My SSF might get a workout after all. As it sits though, if you have 300-500 watts, and want a hell of a subwoofer, the 187 is an absolute steal. My 15 has lived up to my expectations and then some. Kef

How much power on it? That's a crazy score Jacob. Congrats on building a product that I will buy. Been looking for something for the Mustang, and this is it. Single 4 ohm version, I hope? Kef

What's the dimensions and volume of that enclosure? I've got an IA 187 15" and I want to port it and need to know what will actually fit. I'll take the 6x9's out if needed for it to fit. Kef

A pair of 15's with 1200 watts will do decent numbers depending on the vehicle. Once my new amp comes in, I'm going to get metered on the AC just to see what my single 187 does sealed. I think it'll do well for what it is Kef

Lol, another IA AND Neon owner I love my IA Kef

New Mach 5 Build - Zero Power Compression
w00tah replied to mrogowski's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Can't wait to see this done. You brew beer, eh? Any favorites? There's a little local brewery here that has some killer stuff. New Year's Eve he's releasing his second annual batch of his Supergenius Barleywine. It's pretty tasty Kef -
I love my IA. Kef

Mine sat at 3.6 a piece out of the factory, which makes them dual 4's. I've got my 15" in 2 cubes net sealed, and it wangs, pure and simple. Plenty loud, good SQ, gets low, and doesn't need a ton of power. I'm giving mine about 425 with the gains set on my KX400.1 where they are at. Kef

OMG this looks like the perfect candidate for the Mustang. What coils? Kef

Neighbor has a 2nd gen Orion 225 HCCA for cheap and it's a 8.5-9/10. Solid condition. I'm thinking about getting it and throwing the Kicker into the old lady's Mustang since all it has is an MTX RT2200 in it Kef

Rearview hates me Young Jeezy- Hypnotize Outkast- Speakerboxxx Intro. Camera sounds like shit on this one. Don't know why but it sounds much, MUCH better in person.

Indeed. New amp may be coming Friday depending on my finances this week. If I get it this week there will be pics as soon as I get it. Kef
-
No I meant on here. I had it posted for over a week and not a single response or view. Yeah, I love it Denim, it's probably my favorite piece of gear that I've owned. I might have a new amp soon, so keep an eye out for it. Kef

Really? Not a single view? What the fawk? Kef

When can we expect a test of one in car? I'd love to see what it's capable of ported, since the Mustang needs something in it. Kef

Well, I think I have ample time into this sub now, and I've been promising this review, so here it goes. First off, car and other equipment. Car is a Dodge Neon ES, headunit is a Sony GT330, front speakers are Powerbass 2xl-6.5's powered off the h/u, the sub is powered off of a Kicker KX400.1 at 2 ohm in 2.0 net sealed. Crossed at 90 hertz @ 12db per octave (only to help the coax's until I can amp them). Some quick pics: The most important part, the box: The cone and dustcap of the moofer: Height comparison next to a Pepsi 2 liter bottle: Coil venting, which I was not expecting on an entry level driver: Ass shot: The mini review: First thing I noticed listening to this sub is it's louder than my old Kicker Comp, which it should be, since I'm giving it over 2x the power. Second thing I noticed is it really likes lower material, like sub-40 hertz region. Anything above and it seems to struggle on some notes a WEEEEEEE little bit, might just be my box. Third, it's very accurate for an entry level driver in the chitty enclosure I have. Some of the stuff I listen to is very well recorded, and it reproduced most all of it close to perfectly save for the small hiccups as I noted. First real song I listened to was Muse- Knights Of Cydonia. If you've never heard the song before, or haven't heard a good copy on a good sub, the beginning has some drop notes in the intro that will shake your car hard. This sub reproduced it so well that it surprised even me. I thought my Comp did an admirable job of reproducing it, but the IA is 100x better. Second was Kerli- Walking On Air. Really creepy girl, really creepy video, kinda pop meets electronic song. Very low and loud information in this one, and again, the IA kept up just fine. Rearview mirror hates this song smile.gif Third was Rascal Flatts- What Hurts The Most. Gets really low for a country song, but has nice note shifts in it. Only complaint is the upper end, and I think it's just my box. Fourth was T.I.- What You Know About That. Great note shifts and low information in it. Played flawlessly on this one. Loud, low when it needed to be low, and switched between the notes with ease, didn't hang itself up on any of them, unlike the Comp. Fifth was Fear Factory- Damaged. Very quick kick drums that are well recorded. Had good accuracy on them, and played them with a good bit of authority. Not the Raymond Herrera authority of a concert, but still respectable. Overall, so far that is, I'm QUITE satisfied with my purchase, and I personally think that it's unbeatable in the entry level price range. I'm going to do some more listening here in the next couple days and will add some songs and reviews of them. I didn't have all the songs on my Ipod that I wanted to sad.gif Nick, you got a customer for life man, I'll be buying again. Kef

Nick/Josh, I had a question about the 187 15" with use of a passive radiator, the radiator in question being the Exodus Audio PR15. What volume enclosure would I want to use with the passive? If it's close to the current box I have (2.2 before displacement), what would I want to tune the radiator to? I'm asking because I would LOVE to have another 187, but without a better electrical, that's not going to happen and with a PR, I can keep my trunk and still gain the output of a similar ported box. Thanks in advance, Kef

The effects of a 18" MAYHEM on a carwash building

Probably could be....But don't shit on my parade... if i wanna believe it's good for one sub then let me do that. He's just being an ass Didn't know you were a memeber on here too Kef -
How is it too small? 4 cubes is right around recommendations from IA. Kef

You know, you never did answer what part of Ohio you are from, lol. 187 + 400 watts = amazing daily driver on a budget. Kef
