    Firewall question..

I was messin around and just seein where the power wire would go through, and i realized that the firewall already in use for the factory wires was pretty much full, and i don't see how 1/0 is going to squeeze in there. But a couple inches to the right and one or two inches above it, theres what i'm guessing is an unused firewall hole. Its a rubber surround with a rubber filling. I tried to see where it came out on the engine side, and i couldn't find it. Does anyone know if i could (once i find the hole, as it was a little dark when i did this) puncture the rubber filling and take it through there? If not, what should i do?

Oh ok, didn't think about that.. but how do i seal the excess space around the power wire? or is it not needed?

    18 Fi Bl setup

Hayes, thanks for answering all my questions. For now i'll be tuned to a little more than 34 but if i want to later i may lower it. Thanks for telling me about the wiring too, i didnt want to get to installing it and find out i needed banana plugs or something; i really appreciate it. Probably sounds noobish to ask that kind of stuff, well it is hahah this is my first setup, i'm just learning (a lot more than i ever would from shops where i live)from the forums. Just curious, what do you have powering your bl?

    18 Fi Bl setup

I've never used them, but i've searched here and other forums and they seem to be peoples choice, and kicker wire also. This is actually my first setup so i'm pretty much doing a lot of searching and opinions and going from there.

    Double 3/4" mdf?

My question is, is it worth it to double up on 3/4" mdf on all sides, or should i just strengthen the side holding the sub? 18" Fi Bl--- p chamfer and flatwind 39"x18"x22" (sub is on 39x22 side) tuned to 34.4xxx hz any suggestions? thanks. also, this is a daily driver, not going to a termlab anytime soon, just want it to be a good, solid setup for daily driving.

    Wiring Kit

Gains will be set low (to start off, i realize hifonics isn't top of the line, but it'll do the job well even if it is overrated).. so any suggestions on a good wiring kit to buy?

    Bed liner fabrication

Sorry for all the questions lately, but i'm getting very close to having my box complete, and want everything to be right. So, has anyone used bed liner for their boxes? I really like the look of it, and i really dont like the look of carpet (it's allright i guess, it just seems like everyone has it). Does anyone have suggestions on what kind i should buy and maybe a lil info on how to apply it and make it look good? Thanks to everyone thats replied to my questions.

    Double 3/4" mdf?

Alright last question (thanks to everyone for replying). How thick should i have the threaded rod be?
  15. QuestionMan

    Double 3/4" mdf?

Where do you get your threaded rods? is there a special kind i should use?

    Double 3/4" mdf?

what's your favorite way to brace then? I've seen some people just cut 2x4s and that seems like it'd take up a lot of volume...
  17. I started the cuts today, and want to put it together soon, but theres a few things i'm missing. I know i need to pilot the holes, but what size screws? I was thinking 1 5/8" Drywall screws. And for the glue.. should i just use regular carpenter glue/weldbond or something special? Also i read that MDF is porous, so should i seal it? and with what? And someone on a different forum mentioned to do seomthing different for the edges/corners.. .any idea what he meant? 1. 1 5/8" drywall screws? 2. Weldbond/carpenter glue or something else? 3. What kind of sealant if any? (recommendations?) 4. What should i seal edges with? I know its long but thanks for readin.

Making a box.. gotta few ?s

Shizzon, why would you only double baffle the side with the subs? i know that it would give them strength, but wouldnt you want to double baffle all sides?
  19. QuestionMan

    Wiring Kit

Ok.. i know i need 1/0. i'm just interested in a kit that has everything i need (i dont have to use the 1/0 that comes with it if i can buy the hyperflex seperate). All i'm asking is if that kit would have everything i need to install. this is probably better.. since its for one amp.

    Wiring Kit

Would this be a good kit for me? Kicker PKD1 1/0 Gauge Amp Kit Dual Wiring

Making a box.. gotta few ?s

So you only double baffle the side with the sub(s) mounted to it? or do you double every side?
  22. I bought a pair of 3-way 6x9s (pioneer, not the best, but definately better than the stock 99 dodge stereo), and was thinking about adding another pair under the backseat after i get my sub. Would it hurt to get 2-ways (would it sound bad mixed with the 3-ways). I dont see any reason not to, but maybe im missing something.
  23. QuestionMan

    Bolt terminal?

I've seen where eveyone says speaker terminals suck, so whats the best one to use? And if its bolt terminal, do i just put a hole in the mdf and put a 3/8" bolt through it? How do i hook the wires to it on each side? I realize this is probably about as noob as it gets too, but i mentioned big 3 to one of the big 'audio' shops around here, and they looked at me like i was an idiot for thinking there was such a thing (i'm saying this just to show you i have noone to learn from in the local area haha). Thanks

2-ways and 3-ways in same vehicle.

Well i plan on an 18" BL, and i was just wanting to make sure i didn't get 99% bass and 1% everything else, but i guess i'll just keep what i have. Oh and pKelly, i didn't think it would sound bad because they'd be facing out, to where the seat wouldn't cover the actual speaker at all
  25. QuestionMan

    Mounting 18 Bl

I know to pilot my screws, but the problem is i'm using 1 front baffle for the sub, and maybe i'm wrong, but i just dont see 3/4" screw holding that for that long. am i wrong or am i supposed to use a different kind of screw?
