So i was with a buddy, he was looking for a new truck. He was dead set on a hemi (05-07) or maybe even larger engine. We spent the whole night looking at trucks, and then go home. The next night i call him, and he said he got a new truck. I asked him what it was, and he said it was a 2006 4.7 ram.. "the dealer told me it only has 20 hp less than a hemi". I just acted like i was amazed, and didn't want to bring him down since he just got a new truck. But to the point, a new 4.7 model has 230-235 horsepower. A 5.7 Hemi has ~340 horsepower, and i'm not about to be the one to break it to him, lol. Sorry for the rant, but its 1:00 am over here and i was thinking about this when i was looking through the off-topic forum lol.

am i the only one that gets nervous about cutting a hole in the back of their truck? lol, well i guess if you plan on never selling it, but i dont think i could get myself to do it

I've only had my bl in for two weeks, but it does fine on the sundown 1500.

Thanks for the link. I have a question though, what will I use for the square port width and square port length 2? square port width is how wide your port is going to be. The port length 2 is the part of the port thake makes the 'L', change it and see where your tuning goes down on the bottom. Honestly, this program can be off (not by much though) sometimes. It's good if you just want to get an idea of what you want, but i'd just take the time to do the math and figure it out myself, just my opinion though.

how do you determine tuning frequency?
QuestionMan replied to lee's topic in Technical Info & How To's
Thats the tuning equation, if that's what you're looking for. To know the variables and how to use them, just go to jls website, it explains it pretty well. This is what i used to determine my tuning, as i really didn't trust the online calculators. http://mobile.jlaudio.com/support_pages.php?page_id=165 -
I have the sub i want already, so i'm not complaining, only asking, but why do parameters not matter in the btl? Why couldn't people put it in a program, many people use btls as daily drivers, so its not like btls are only used for burps 24/7. just curious

Any decent 1500 watt amplifier, many people use sundowns saz-1500 for their bls.

I cried from laughing in the very first one.

He's got all the bragging rights in his camaro 383 stroker, lol. But hell, i'd rather have the 1998 5.2 4x4 that he just traded in than the 4.7, but he said he was sick of the two door, and was ready for an 'upgrade'.

I want to, but also don't want to be the guy that brings him down when he's pumped about his new truck, kinda sucks lol

I've been watching this log since you started, its great, thanks for taking the time to put in details. This gets me itching to start on my frontstage (right now i bascically consist of substage. period. lol), gotta wait for the $ though. I'm a little nervous about fitting the mids and tweets in my doors, not gonna lie lol, but nice job on yours.

One post is all you need... No one is hardly ever on at this time.. wait till tommorow when more people are on that can help instead of flooding.. To your question, i'd reduce box size for a smaller sub and have it sound good rather than have a large sub and large box and sound like crap, just cause its so close to a trunk. Theres more qualified people to answer that, but thats my opinion

LMS' work well sealed? Thought they were a port only kind of sub for some reason

FisherCustoms + LFTNdesign = new website
QuestionMan replied to Mark LaFountain's topic in Fisher Customs
Not sure if it's my computer or the website, but on the gallery, when i view the pictures it automatically zooms in to where i can only see a portion of it. Looks good though, just thought i'd point that out (either to help you or to get someone to let me know my computers messin up haha) -
I think it should be mandatory for every person who gets it to post a video of their setup when it's installed

Do sealed boxes have a tuning frequency?
QuestionMan replied to frankyp00's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
Say you have a Fi Q tuned to 30 hz in a ported box, and play a 25 hz tone, then put it in a sealed (2 cu ft, for example?), will it play a 25 hz tone just as good/better or worse? -
Right now i have my 18 bl in a ~6 ft^3 box (before port and sub disp.), tuned to 34 hz with a 3.75 x 20.5 in port (was supposed to be 4 inches, but i had a lil cutting error ). Anyways, i'd like to try a few different boxes, some higher, some lower, some smaller, some bigger. Fi has 30 hz as the lowest recomendation, and i'd like to see what the people who tuned to around this (or people who have heard a bl tuned to this) thought about it. They also have 37 hz as they're highest, so have any of you tuned to that, if so, how'd you like it? I realize a person who tunes to 30 hz is going a different path than someone tuning 37 hz, but i'd just like to see how each individual liked it... Thanks for taking the time to read, --Mitch Also, as of now, my sub and port are facing the front of my truck. Would sub and port up make a noticeable difference?

Yeah mines movin air, but i think i want more.. idk though i'll have to wait awhile and be positive before i throw some more money into it. I may be thinking about 2 18 SSDs (wouldn't have to change my amp or anything for that) so i'd be movin more air, but once again, i'm waiting it out and making this the best possible.

Thanks for the input lost, i plan on making a couple boxes in the next few weeks. Anyone have any advice on the sub up, port up? I know its different for every vehicle, but don't most find that sub and port up yield best results? Also, if i were to do it sub/port up, i would have only have about .5" on two sides of the sub before they hit a wall, is that bad? Edit: I just installed it last sunday(?), so i'll probably end up waiting a little while before building boxes, just so the sub is at its best.
-
That's awesome, congrats. Does having aeroports go outside the box make any difference than having them inside the box?
-
How do you like it? To me it just doesn't seem like i'm getting low enough @ 34 ... I'd like to tune lower, but i also don't want to lose my upper range and loudness.. i'm terrible at decisions, lol.

Firefox and Opera
QuestionMan replied to Aaron Clinton's topic in Computers / Electronics / Music / Games
I downloaded firefox quite awhile back, and always seemed to have troubles with it. It seemed like it was 'too strict', and i couldn't ever find what to change to make it right. Anything involving a username/email and password would not work, i could never sign in.. I'd type in the right info, and it would just send me back to the same exact sign-in page. It was frustrating as hell, so i just went on my merry way back to IE . Anyone know what i should change? I tried whatever came to mind, but never really bothered to look it up, because i figured i wasn't missin out on much. Maybe i was wrong lol -
I see all these vids of people playing 10 or even 5 hz test tones, and i dont really understand how. If you have it tuned to 35, you set the SS at 30 give or take. Then how is it that the sub can play a 10hz tone. Doesn't the box constrict it, and wouldnt it be unable to control the sub below 30 hz or so if tuned to 35? This may sound noob as hell, i dont care lol. Thanks for reading, Mitch
