DSS Tridents and Twisted Sounds S-10. Road to 166dBs
Lee Carter replied to stevemead08's topic in Build Logs
Wow, I would have been off the charts irrate at that point. I've had that happen to me before, with my Cadillac back in '06. I know that feeling all to well. Speaking of... No pics of the new rolling stock? BTW- DAMN! at the wire.LOL -
I noticed Sound Qubed as and option in the Subwoofer and Amplifier drop downs in the Store... Should we be expecting an announcement? Now I see there in the brands section that leads to their products. Cool. I have always considered them, but never purchaced anything from them. That may change now.

Wasn't spending 400 bucks, for an amp that my son(soon to be 16) would misuse and blow the sub with.LOL If it were mine- maybe. Also looking at space limitations- but that was second to the previous statement.
-
interesting- I assume it does all the other gauges also? temp, oil pressure, etc
-
"Your order number is: 8868" My second SSA order, gonna be plenty more over the next couple of months though! Just ordered my first SoundQubed Product...a SoundQubed Q1-1200d. Super excited to put thei in my Suzuki(Sons future truck), and take my BC 3500 out.LOL Been running it as a temp amp at 4 ohms(and the X-con still slams!). Now I will be turning my attention back to the Avalnche build.
-
You will be fine with the Crescendo- I love my 3500. I am about to order either a SQ'd 1200, or a symphony 1500 this week. I don't think I can go wrong either way.(But really wanting to try out some SoundQubed gear.)

^^^ I would get a quote right now....

sure wish I lived closer...
-
To me- anything over ~750 watts needs it done. to run a 1500+ watt amp- i'd do 1/0 wire thoughout.
-
Q- you still planning the 18" ethos? I saw in the 10" thread the you stated late this yr, but also mentioned that the 10 would be a different line.
-
very cool indeed.
-
those neo drivers look wild...looks expensive.LOL
-
would be interesting.

Love the comments in the video...made me laugh.

I tried. I went and read the link you put up a while back. It confused my simple mind. So I just quit using them.LOL

^^watch out with the ellipsis use too. LOL. To the original topic- this guy just came on here and made himself look like an asshat. I agree that the best thing about this board is that if it is BS- it will get called out. And they don't delete topics. Boards that do that are shady IMO.

should sound decent. My 18 X in my Zuk is a touch cramped- but it sounds pretty dang good. A lil more volume would help- but that will work.
-
prefab box? Looks stout.
-
again- 1.5 times the recommended power, coils getting hot after extended play. I'm just sayin. The simple solution is to turn the amp down a bit. Like the others said- just cause the DD1 says your aren't clipping at 40hz, doesn't mean you may not be at another frequency.

Great amp for running a complete active setup?

No more than me man.LOL I am a single father of 4 boys with 2K/month in Child Support...I am doing the best I can. hahaha!

Man- that sounds great- even through the camera...

return of the spam bot?

No...hopefully I'll pick my wood up next wednesday or thursday. I am working this week. Finished the radio install('cept for running RCA's) on Tuesday- had to finish hooking up the rear view cam. But haven't took pics of it yet. I will when I get back home. Hoping to order an alternator and pick up batteries next week as well.

Sa-15 motor getting hot and surround ripping
Lee Carter replied to Whatshisface176's topic in Sundown Audio
There's nothing wrong with using more than rated power on any driver BUT it takes more attention to everything and a good ear to keep from destroying them. Extra power is good for headroom plain and simple. The headroom gets you more power to the driver with less chance of clipping and distortion. Nothing but a good thing as long as you don't overdo it on the volume knob. I understand what you are saying....but this is exactly why i tend to set up my systems where they are very unlikely to get overdriven. I just don't see the need unless you are competing. Admittedly i am just getting into this level of output, but I have always ran subs that had a bit more rating than the power I am feeding them, and have yet to blow an amp- or cook a woofer(except for the IA I just had reconed...and I was over powering it). But it seems self evident when you are feeding a 600w sub almost 1000w and it starts coming apart what the problem is.LOL
