that is cool- I am not a long rider either. furthest I ever go is to the beach in Pensacola(about an hr ride). But honestly, usually just 30min-1hr rides without a destination. It is just a lil relaxation for me.

I had a Suzuki Bandit 1250 I bought new in 07...Sold it a few yrs back and have regretted it ever since. So the past couple of yrs I have been dreaming on buying another- but I finally found one that I couldn't pass up. I am a BIG guy- and though I loved my Bandit- I figures a sporty 'power' cruiser was in order. Been looking at Kawasaki Mean Streaks, Victory Vegas, VTX1800 s, etc. Ended up buying a 2003 VTX 1800C on Tuesday. Green, 11,xxx miles, windscreen, Engine LEDs, amp and speaks for mp3 player, backrest/rack(will be removed)... Saw it Saturday, at the dealer my dad works at. Stopped in, asked the Sales Manager(Hal) if they were trading the bike in. He said no, but the guy may want to sell it. So I talked to the owner- he showed me the bike- then said he would part with it for 4 grand. I told him I needed to check my account, and took his #. Tried to call the guy later, he never returned my call. Tuesday- went to shop to visit my dad, and let my boys see him before I came back to work(7 days on/ 7 days off here in Houma LA). Dad tells me the Hal had come back to the body shop and wanted to talk to me. I immediately realized the guy traded that bike in. 2 minutes later- Hal had tracked me down. After some talking, He told me that if I wanted the bike- they needed 3 grand for it!! They already had it bid on it from a wholesaler- but if I'd give them the same price- I could have it....SOLD. For a 800 less that what the guy said he would take...(3223 out the door) I didn't have a helmet with me, and I have to figure out a place to put it...so I literally drove it from the dealer front, around to the Body Shop and parked it there for the week, til I get back home from work. I had so much going on at the moment that I didn't even take a picture of it.LOL So I call and had the guys send me a few pictures. Sorry for the quality....

LOL Aaron! have about 3 more like me- and a motorcycle is a sweet relief from the real world. Got home this weekend...picked the bike up from the shop Monday, and been sick the last 2 days. have only ridden it around the block with the kiddos.

Love the Raiders. My freind has a Stryker that I rode to see if I really wanted a cruiser. Nice bike. As far as the mileage- I have no Idea. Like I said- I literally drove it from on side of the dealer lot to the other. Reading on the VTX forums though, they do 35-42 depending on how you ride.

Very nice looking design.

1 ground from each Battery runs to the engine block, and 1 run from each battery is grounded to the body. Going to add another run off each to the frame too.

Sorry for the lack of updates. Alot harder to find time to work on it during the summer. Between the weather(rains every day in South Alabam)- and trying to spend some time with my boys while they are out of school- the truck gets pushed to the back burner. We did buy a sheet of plywood- made a trim panel, it isn't really to my liking though. I'll snap a pic here shortly. I am thinking I am going to use some quarter round to trim/attach the trim surround to the box with. Just wondering how I am going to get the vinyl to look right over it. Time will tell I guess.

Congrats man!

wish I had more time to work on it. I work away from home every other week, then the weeks I am home, I have my 4 boys with me the whole time this summer. Then I have several other vehicles that need attention too, so often the Lanche gets put off. I should be working on it right now, but I spent all day yesterday in the heat with the kids, watching the Blue Angels do their beach show here in Pensacola. I am exhausted. lol. But to the point of your comment, yes- I am getting excited. I am WAY above anything else I have ever built. So I am learning as I go. I have some vinyl that matches my leather to wrap the trim pieces with. But I am trying to figure out how I am going to mount the trim panel- without it looking ugly. Also need to figure out how to run all the power wire to the inside. There's a pretty large grommet thru the firewall, but not sure if it will fit 2 2/0 and a 4g. may go underneath the truck) Think I'll fool with that tomorrow. what should I use for the trim? does it need to be heavy like 3/4 mdf? or maybe some thinner hard board? gonna have to pick something up to build the surround out of 1 piece. the mid gate is 53" x 25 " there a bouts. I was thinking building a 'mid gate replacement panel' then cut the rectangle slightly smaller than the box, and rabbit in a 'slip' over if that makes sense? if I use a thin hard board type material i can layer a smaller rectangle and glue them together. I basically don't want the bedliner to show around the edges, so I want the trim for overlap the box edge slightly, I am having a hard time explaining it though.

very nice!

Box is in the truck. fits like a glove! now to work on some trim panels tomorrow. Never built any- so wish me luck.

Just reading the reviews- there are atleast a few doing it...I personally have run my 1200 at .5 without issue, but I was ginger with the gain and watched my voltage like a hawk. It help up fine til I put the correct sub back in with the 1 ohm load. I would not suggest doing it in a daily banger, but that is just me. I really like my 1200 though, ballsy lil amp. Pushes my 18" xcon with authority. EDIT- that's what happens when you get distracted for 10 mins with work- then finish your post.LOL 2 others already answered the question.
