Finally got a chance to take a couple pictures of the final product.. Sub is in wiring is "complete" Pretty happy with how clean the install is. The box is definitely big and at some point I might experiment with a sealed enclosure but for now this thing absolutely pounds. photo by ChadS13TDI, on Flickr ssa xcon2 by ChadS13TDI, on Flickr ssa xcon by ChadS13TDI, on Flickr

That was the plan.... Man the wait for this sub is excruciating! Especially not having a clue when it's going to show up. I thought for sure I'd have it before I went out of town this weekend on my road trip for my bday.....not looking good.... I don't have a major update right yet, just been super busy. The sub is in after the very long wait. in short. It's Awesome and very loud lol. I am hoping to have the install completed Sunday. I had some issues with my lc6i and have been running a Band-Aid for a bit. As soon as I have it finished up I will get some new pics and give some more feedback.

I can wait and I have been waiting. I'm more excited than ever to get my sub. My issue is they quote 21+ business day build time and its clearly not the case. It's misleading and in the end these wait times will slow business (in a bad way) which I guess will help others. Under promise and over deliver. I don't want to turn this Into a negative thread. I've been speaking with Aaron throughout the process and he's always quick to respond and all my other orders from SSA have been great.

Still has not shipped as of this morning which means if it ships Monday I'm still looking at 45 business days. Incredibly frusterated with how long this has taken.... I've been planning my system since April and been sitting here ready for the sub since early June..

I ordered may 11th and I'm still waiting..... Lol. a recone? Wow..2 months and you haven't gotten it? That's a little unacceptable. It's a new xcon. But if I understand right recones are in the same queue as the speaker builds so the wait is the same. It's definately much longer than I expected to wait. I can only hope it's very soon.

New alternator or ..??
ChadS13TDI replied to riored4v's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Thats how I did mine initially, except with the RCA's disconnected initially. OK, but my question is if done properly do you leave the gain on the sub amp near zero? or is it required to turn up to 3/4 or whatever. Similar to how you have it now? -

Level MatchingIf you have ever listened to a friend’s “killer” car audio system and heard lots of hiss, clicks or pops, then you may have experienced an improperly level-matched system. When a performance autosound system is properly level matched, you should get the maximum output from your source unit and amplifiers without any clipping or that annoying hiss! The following steps will help you through the process, although at the end of the day, your ears will be your guides!1. Set your source unit’s fader and balance controls to their center positions. If your source unit has subwoofer output (and you are using it), set the output level at minimum.2. Disconnect the RCA cables between your LC6i and the amplifier(s). Otherwise get some earplugs.3. Start playing some dynamic music and set the volume on your source unit to about 3/4 of maximum. You should not be hearing anything at this point as the amplifiers are unplugged. If you are hearing music, go back to step #2; if you are hearing voices go see a doctor!4. Adjust the output level controls until the “Maximized” light starts to flicker. If the Maximized LED does not come on but you are hearing music, fear not. The signal level from your source unit is probably not sufficient enough to trigger the LED. Do not worry, proceed on.5. Set the input gains on the amplifier(s) at minimum! This is known as turning down your gains.6. Double check that you performed Step #5!7. Decrease the volume control on your source unit and re-connect the RCA’s between the LC6i and the external amplifier(s).8. Now increase the volume on your source unit to your normal listening level. For some of you, this may be louder than others!9. At this point you may find yourself going back and adjusting the Output Level controls on your LC6i to balance the front, rear, and subwoofer sections of your system to accommodate speaker placement and efficiency. Speakers on the rear deck of your car will probably sound louder that the ones in your doors! I am going to be going through the same thing. so If I'm reading that correctly you want to maximize the signal from the lc6i and keep your gain on your sub amp near "zero" Step 5 says to turn the gains down on your amp. turn down the volume on your receiver and then reconnect everything. so once it's all reconnected you wouldn't then need to go back and adjust the gain on the amp for the sub? -
Seems like Karma. I would just get some good carpet cleaner and try that....spraying milk on it seems like a bad idea to me.

I have a small update from last weekend.... finished up my amp rack and got the V6 panel in and it all fits perfect. it's very tight. I had to make a few adjustments but in the end it's going to work. very happy with how it turned out. Driverside by ChadS99SVT, on Flickr I still have some wiring to complete but all the wires are run and grounds connected just need to wire up the LC6i. driversside1 by ChadS99SVT, on Flickr Wishing my XCON would hurry and show up!

Battery Advice..
ChadS13TDI replied to riored4v's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Does Optima, Interstate, or Sears make any AGM batteries worth while? I was reading on DIYMA that AGM batteries are what you want to look for. -
Setup looks great man. How much power are you running through the stock alternator? I have 800 rms @ 2ohm to the components and 1400 rms @ 2 ohm to the sub...Im sure Im not seeing all 2200 rms and the amps are class D.But I bought one of those little guages you plug into a lighter socket that indicates alternator and battery...I stay around 14.2 when 2k rpm, but idleing drops to 12.5 ish every so often. Im sure its not very accurate, but close. Stock alternator is 110 amp...thinking I might need 200-275 amp? Is that when you're pounding on it? I'm looking into getting a new battery now as I'm sure it will be necessary.

awesome!! Very Jealous right now... I can't wait to hear your first thoughts once it's in.

not to hijack the thread but my box was intended to be rear firing but I'm curious about spinning it around to fiiring forward. I'm not interested in having my seats down or sealing stuff off, but would I notice a big difference? For rear firing subs how much space is "too much" or "too little" when it comes to area for air to circulate?

well I finished my Amp rack. did not go exactly as planned and it's not real fancy or very "clean". The carpet job was a total sh!t show lol but I didn't really care that much because it will be hidden behind the V6 panel. amp by ChadS99SVT, on Flickr on the bottom I will mount a fused distribution block. I tried to get the panel back in but the gas shock has to go through the panel and they make you remove it to slide the trim in so until I figure out how to remove that I can't put the car back together. it's super tight I just hope it all goes together. it seems like it will be ok though.

Has anyone officially responded to this thread? I would love to hear more.

Let's Discuss Fuses and Multiple Batteries
ChadS13TDI replied to ChadS13TDI's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Thanks guys. Any recommendations on fused power distribution blocks? I like the ones that have some smaller gauge connectors. Are certain type fuses better than, others? Or more readily available? -
Let's Discuss Fuses and Multiple Batteries

Ok so I'm staring to piece together and figure out what I need for my electrical pieces.. I will have a second battery in the rear. running two amps. Sub amp -T1500-1bdCP Front Stage amp is undecided at the moment. I have 1/0 Gauge OFC running to the back. probably ~15ft run. My plan is. Battery up front + (in line fuse)>>>>> (inline fuse) Battery Rear Positive + Ground up front will be left alone. Ground in the rear will be placed in the factory installed Ground fused to the body in the trunk. For the amps.... Running from rear battery ----- Short zero gauge OFC to a fused distribution block >>>>From the fused distro 4 gauge wires to each of the two amps. Grounds from the amps will run back to the ground in the trunk. What do you guys think first of all? Sorry it might be a little hard to understand... My main Questions are What size AMP should I run between the two batteries? 300AMP? Can I go smaller or do the two batteries draw bigger loads between themselves? Second question....should I put an in line fuse on the 1-2ft piece between the rear battery and the Fused Distribution block? thank you! -
Box is ready to go. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. My first flush mount box and did it with a jigsaw. now I just continue to wait for my xcon. box complete by ChadS99SVT, on Flickr

ended up buying the 95hr tray. Thing seems huge. Not sure I'm even going to use it. Probably going to return it. Most likely going another route.
