99.9999999999999% sure. i took my time laying that thing in the box before i screwed it in. i plan on doing some investigating tomorrow, so i'll take it out to make sure. but just so you know, it's like this.

    my new toy

Well it’s in, but I’m having some issues that may or may not be related to the amp. If you stroll by the amp section you’ll see a post about it. Here’s a link if you’d like to help me out. http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...showtopic=15223 As for pictures, I’m no carpenter and I’m quite embarrassed about my box making skills. There might not be pics other than just a plain picture of the front. This is a quote from that other thread on my current state of mind with this set up. Do I need to be more patient? Or could this be a result of amp issues? I did buy the amp from a vendor on eBay, maybe I got shafted with a bad amp? I’m pretty sure everything is hooked up correctly and the box was made right. It might not be aesthetically pleasing to some, but it was damn near air tight just like the last one I made.
  4. Bass boost is off, don't use it never have. Just to recap. New amp gain set at full minimum, and bass boost off. Sub volume on head unit set at 11 out of 15. I do this because I have some old hardcore punk that is weak on the low end, so when I play it I have room to give it a boost. The bass, mid and treble are where I would normally have them which is 3, 3 and 4 out of 8. HU volume at

well the box will be right at .65 after sub displacement, which is what they suggest is optimal on the site. i got the amp installed today. had to redo the front of the box, good thing i had enough

    truck box question(s)

so my RL-i 10 has arrived, now i'm waiting on the amp. my 1st question is this. would putting the driver on the back side of the truck box be a bad thing? i know to allow for excursion clearance, but it would still be pretty close to the back wall of the cab (regular cab ranger btw). would there be some adverse effects from the air the sub is pushing not escaping away from the sub fast enough? here is a crude 1 minute drawing. i was thinking if it would be alright to face backwards; i would extend the sides of the box to act as a separator between the box and cab. i've seen boxes like this before, but they were facing the front to give separation from the seat. this next idea was in case the above was a bad idea or maybe do it even in place of rear firing. i want to gain as much space for my passenger seat as i can and this idea seems to be the best for making the most shallowest box. the idea was to try and accomplish what another company does (i forget who at this point). they make a bracket for the magnet structure to be butted up against the back of the box, you then drill a hole for the pole vent and the bracket helps seal the magnet to the box. obviously the RL-i does not have this bracket ability, but has anyone tried making something similar or just made a hole and sealed it off with a gasket between the two with success? i have box making experience and i come from years of working maintenance for plants in my area, so i am pretty sure i can come up with something, but would it be worth it? i know they both sound like stupid noob questions, but i can't find anything answering them.
  8. i have a 10" RL-i D4 on the way, now i'm trying to choose and amp. goals were... 1: no more than $250 with shipping tacked on. would like to make it less if i could, but if the choice means paying that much than so be it. 2: a minimum of 500rms at 2ohm. sub will be in a optimum recommend size sealed box which i believe was .65 cu.ft. i have done lot of searching and reading reviews and posts with people giving their opinions, not only here, but other places. i have it down to these choices. Cadence TXA-1000D Hifonics TXi 7506 Phoenix Gold R8.0:1 Phoenix Gold Ryval V8001 Infinity REF611A Alpine MRP-M650 again, cheaper would be better, but from what i remember of Phoenix Gold back in the days it was so so stuff. the Cadence, Hifonics and Alpine seem to get the best rep. what do you guys think. help an old guy out.
  9. btw, sorry, it know it doesn't make sense to ask opinions, then a couple posts later buy something. i started seeing a lot of people ginving opinions in other places and i couldn't find a bad word to say, so i hit ebay and BAM. can't wait to hear the RL-i with it.
  10. well, i decide to (crosses fingers) try going the ebay route. since i did, i up'ed the anty a bit and will be getting a Alpine MRP-M850 (just a link to reference it). total was $230 but hey, i get more rms
  11. thanks, but i'm not much of an ebay buyer. i get too paranoid about getting shafted. i've bought from there in the past and both times i had issues, got what i won, but it was a fight. i'll give a look though, who knows, maybe i'll bite. the other thing, and this is going to sound stupid, but i hate the look of the Kicker amps. i know it's not something to be thinking about, but i think they are just awful looking.

    hello from Virginia land

we'll see about shows. for the front stage, right now i'm kinda thinking Diamond Audio S600s or D661s's. i just got a Kenwood X591 for x-mas to replace my failing Alpine. i have a 40gig Soyo drive hooked up in the glove compartment and love it. i tell ya, just getting the head unit was a big step up in sound from the old one. i have a 12" Cerwin Vega Stealth crammed in a undersized box (long story) and a cheap profile amp; plus my old Sony coax's in the doors at the moment. for a long time i didn't really care about what i had in the truck as long as it wasn't stock. lately i've been wanting to up the sound a bit, even though i have a busted vehicle, i still want good sound while driving to and from work and around town.

    hello from Virginia land

just doing what i'm told and introducing myself. i'm in the wait for shipping price and final total from SoundSplinter for my RLi-10 dvc. really excited and can't wait to get it. it will be in my regular cab Ranger, sealed. as for box size, not sure yet, going to wait and see what i have to build around. after months of reading posts here and at other places the RLi sounded like what i needed. from the reviews i'm glad i didn't impulse buy and get something crappy. space was a factor, depth being the most critical, but in the end it was overshadowed by the fact i couldn't find something shallow and still be want i wanted. most shallow mounts in my price range were low in the RMS and big in the box size. i'm sure when i'm all said and done, i'll get pics. for now... hello all!

    hello from Virginia land

thanks guys. a little confession of sorts though. i'm not really into shows or anything like that, just good audio. i can remember back in the day my dad listening to his "now classic rock" albums (i'm 36) and watching him always tweaking his old Kenwood receiver and playing around to make it all sound sweet. i kinda got the bug with the whole "make it sound good as possible" at a very young age. this system will only be for mere personal enjoyment, no showing off or anything. on a second note, the RL-i 10 is now on it's way, great service! i was expecting to wait a day or two before i got shipping charges. i even had a question after getting tracking number and in 3 minutes had an answer. all is going well so far!
