How much of a difference. Tenths of dB?
-
Thanks for the information I will be using a 7/8 dow rod in the center between the speaker and the port for added bracing

For the corners of the internal air space

Are 45*s needed with in boxes that use PVC tubing as ports? Also I designed my box using Win ISD and was told to make the box roughly 2.0 @36hz and use 10" of 4" pvc. Now does WIN ISD take in to account for the space taken up by the PVC or do I have to make the box larger?

There was a link on caraudio.com. Came here and I seem to get more help with my newbie questions. I also like it here, because there are forums for many of the speakers I plan on muying in the future

Yeah, I've been leaning towards the V-Max. I havent read to much bad things about them, but then again, there isnt much posted about them. I looked at the Ascendant Audio Arsenal, but the site says SQ speaker. How are they with SPL? I'm aware of the MAW12 not being in stock, but I can always buy from the classifieds Keep the suggestions coming

I finally got around to actually designing a ported box for 1 12" Memphis PR. I played around on reaudio.com playing with numbers and made a box to my specs. And FWIW, you can download the caculator to you computer, by going to the parent directory... http://reaudio.com/speaker_box/ Here is what I have now... The person I'm making it for listens to mostly rap and hip-hop. What should the box be tuned to? Memphis's specs 2.00 / 45 / 12.5 x 2 x 19. Any help would be greatly apprecitated

Thanks for the replys. I was looking over the SSA site and seen Comp CVRs for $80. From what I read they have mixed reviews, but would still like to here some more Comparable to Vmax?

I've researched both Maw 12 and the V-Max 12.x, but I still havent found a clear answer on which one has more SPL and good SQ. I'm also open to other subs in the same price bracket ($100ish) and fits my needs. It seems like once I find one I plan on buying, I find another more options to choose from. I'm building a ported box and buying the amp to match the sub I purchase... which brings me to my other question... ...can someone point me in the direction of an amp ($150ish) they recommend?
-
WOW lol Any other recommendations on amps or answers to the questions asked above?
-
Why do you say that? From what I have read, Hifonics makes nice amps.

Thanks for the reply. I have seen those Mach 5 specs before, but wondered if people have found a better mixture of ft^3 and hz As far as budget goes, I would like to spend in the neighborhood of $150... Which is why I was looking at Hifonics... http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseac...Product_ID=4206 http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseac...Product_ID=4201 http://woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction...Product_ID=2962 Would any of these work???

I was wondering if I could get the specs on the MAW12. What ft^3 do they like ? What would be a nice daily tune? Port area? Port width? PVC or slot port? I plan on putting this in the trunk of my Prizm... sealing off the trunk, folding down the rear seat and firing the sub in to the cabin. Should the port fire into the cabin also? I'm working with a height of 14" and roughly a width of 28". Also what amp would you suggest for this set up? I was looking at the Hifonics TXi 4006, but to be honest this I still dont fully understand all the varibles that go into audio. TIA
