speakers are stupid..they do exactly what you are telling them to do..in the environment in which they are in...it is not the speaker...there is a gremlin elsewhere i'm not reading through the entire thread..but did you do a 'pop' test on the speakers with a battery to ensure that you have them wired correctly and there is not a terminal band backwards? If you have the speaker hooked up 'properly' then it will move forward..if it is backwards then it will move backwards...

Either an RCA or a sub is wired out of phase...there's no other reason for it to be non-existant... Regardless whatever you do NEVER max out gains/bass boost etc. That's a sure fire way to break a sub...

This is how it worked out... 28.6 pounds = 12" Q weight. 28.6 pounds = 12 972.7418 grams 15 grams per CD If you do the math you get 864.849453333333 = 865 CD’s. Tommy guessed 864 CD's... The next closest one was JakeTheSnake with 878 CDs Congrats to Tommy! Shoot me an email with your address and we'll get a sub built up for you how you want it. I've got a new game that i'm going to start in the next few weeks that I think all of you will enjoy.

Box specs are in the tech section as well as on the website on the tech section... The 18 has a bit more displacement...via surface area. 1210 cm^2 vs 960cm^2 for the 12's... It really comes down to how much room you have to work with and power that you have available. Thanks!

How do you find a subwoofers mechanical limit?
NDMstang65 replied to ChristianMcKay's topic in General Audio
When the coil smacks the back plate or the spiders smack the top plate / basket or the cone smacks the spider landing is when you hit the mechanical limit.. You do this by either free airing something with power, or playing below tuning frequency of a ported enclosure with no subsonic filter. -
Had a minor mixup in the shipping warehouse and your sub was put on the wrong pallet mixed up in some international orders. It will be going out on Monday. Thanks for your patience!
-
You can't mix and match the new and old ones. Bad idea
-
The only thing that can be done is the compression plug in the pole piece... We can't machine the top plates after they are charged.
-
Use the 50 minute... You have to let it dry over night anyhow.

28.6 pounds..look at the game

Thiele Small Parameters for fully loaded BTL's
NDMstang65 replied to mjmarovi's topic in Fi Technical
Fs swings because Qts and BL swings...more steel..little lower q and tighter tolerances...less steel..little higher q..little bit less bl etc. The suspension is all the same..it is all done in house..but we do not change the suspensions on them as it is a 1 size fits all kind of thing. -
dot coooooooooom. winner will be announced in the morning..doing some figures and trying to get 5 hours of sleep tonight.

Been working with a lot of split coil stuff lately with SG3 (Supergauss 3 for those who don't know) and some Industrial applications..thought some of you would like to see some really big off the wall cool stuff that we do that you simply do not see anywhere else...The coil on the right is the original 4" XMX...the one on the left is a 3" coil that we are using for an industrial application. The quarter is in the picture for a size reference... Just another way we march to the beat of our own drum... Just another good Friday! Have a great weekend!

Haven't had time to sit down for 5 minutes to run through everything. I'm going to try to get through it tonight and announce the winner.

Thiele Small Parameters for fully loaded BTL's
NDMstang65 replied to mjmarovi's topic in Fi Technical
Suspension is the same on all of the BTL's..so the Vas is the same accordingly with respect to cone size...regardless of options. -
I've gotta go through the entire thread...it's going to take a couple days to make sure that the correct person is chosen. Relax It will be early this week.
-
You should plan on spending at least a grand for a proper electrical system for a BTL to properly power it...

Ladies/Gents It’s October again, Halloween is on the horizon and of course the coming of another movie in the Saw trilogy, Saw VI. In light of that… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8IxtDLndMM (Thanks Shizzon) I want to play a game. Here’s the rules: 1) You must be a contributing member on SSA to be able to submit an answer to the game. (If you can post in the for sale section then you are golden) 2) You can not register an account and make a bunch of useless posts to be able to enter the game. 3) If you have won any of the games in the past year you are not eligible to enter this contest. 4) This contest is for (1) brand new Q series 12” subwoofer with the BP option (Your choice of Dual 1 or Dual 2ohm coils). 5) You are only allowed one (1) guess and you can not edit your post as I can tell if you have edited it or not. 6) This contest will end two weeks from today (October, 16th 2009) in which we will determine the winner. Whoever is first and it is determined to be the closest guess to the actual number of CD’s (No Case) it takes to equal the weight of the 12” Q will win the contest. I am not closing the contest off from entries until the contest ends. Now, the contest: How many CD’s (as in compact discs, standard size, no case) does it take to equal the weight of (1) Q series 12” subwoofer? This is a round number so do not guess decimal places as you can not have .XXXX of a CD. You have one guess…the choice is yours!

I'll close the thread at midnight tonight and go through it tomorrow and announce the winner over the weekend more then likely

We rate them like we do for good reason so people do not tear them up... You seem to know what you are doing and what to listen for. You will know when they get to full stroke!
