Fi Recone For Pioneer Premier w3002 d2

Not to tell you what to do or anything..but you can buy a brand new one for 110 bucks from sonic electronix.. If we could do it you'd have more money in shipping and just a ballpark figure of $85 for the recone parts..if we even could build it.

    impedance fail?

You're probably running on a stock electrical system too... Those coils are wound on a machine that has a very specific length of wire that is calculated to be exactly .75 ohms. You are not going to have one coil .5 ohms and one .75 ohms...it's impossible. You cannot put that kind of power in a stock car with a stock electrical system and yank the gains up and expect magic to happen... It takes power to make power.

the only thing that is better is those who email somebody @ficaraudio.com and ask what is your website.. ..i reply..perhaps ficaraudio.com? might try that one.

    Tuning box below manufacture's Fs

Fair enough, do what works well for you. I just won't condone anybody that buys our product to model it and use it..because it ends up a terrible tragedy of broken stuff because of stupidity. Trying to get somebody to keep their packaging material and figuring out what a subsonic filter is...is simply hard enough as it is.

Bad Voice Coil or over powered

Or...you microwave tinsel leads and yank them past mechanical limitations and they pop like a fuse. (which is most likely..very rarely does a coil ever burn up because of the cooling technology in a BTL)

    Tuning box below manufacture's Fs

Actually, this couldn't be further from the truth. Vance Dickason did a complete experiment with this (as written up in his 6th edition) by measuring the complete T/S and enlclosure parameters of a few subwoofers in and out of vehicles. He also placed them in many positions. He could not get changes in the box parameters of more than 5% or so..... In other works, tuning, Q, impedance all stayed the same. The biggest difference in a car is cabin gain, but that doesn't alter the original box behavior/parameters in the least.... FI drivers are no different than any other drivers, if you have accurate T/S parameters, you can get predicted response just as you can with any other driver.... Put a pair of btl 15's in a 2.5 cube ported box with very little port area as the box programs suggest and see how it sounds It's going to sound like shit..and it's going to model 'fantastic' Which is why we say..put them in X volume range..with Y port range.. Using what Winisd or any other box program 'suggests' for volume and port size isn't going to work so well..it has a LOT of issues trying to predict higher and higher motor force woofers..and it simply misses the mark. If you look at it as just a reference point then it's fine. But using what is suggested works best...

    Details on AA subs?

yes, steve at FI wanted to go in a different direction than nick so they branched off and steve started his own brand Ascendant Audio, the companies are completely unrelated regarding owners and employees, but the technology is very very similar, if you look at an fi q vs an AA havoc you will find them very similar. both use teh same surrounds and spider structures, i have seen both and the build quality on both drivers was superb I currently run 2 Ascendant audio havoc 15's in a sealed enclosure, they slam pretty good, but they sound incredible both teh fi Q and the Ascendant audio Havoc are designed for sound quality first and loudness second, it does the first VERY well, and still manages to do a damn good job on the second. the havoc is alllmost as loud as the fi bl to the ear, but the bl shaves a few more db at the meter. The mayhem is ascendant audio's answer to the FI BTL, overall i would say they are an even match, though i would still choose Mayhem because to my ears they seem to hit the higher bass a little harder then the btl, but below 45 hz for both subs it is a dead heat. the SMD series is jsut insane, that's all i got to say about it, i don't have another sub to really compare it to that i have actually heard before, but if you want to ask me " is it louder then the btl?" or "does it beat the Mayhem?" the answer will be "yes, deffinately" LOL..no clue where you got that one from but it made me giggle There is no Steve.. Just Scott...and he owns both companies. We're not going in any different directions...just one is a dealer based entity that is geared to what a shop can and does sell and stock on a shelf. The other is direct only for those who do things themselves instead of wanting to purchase something from a shop and have them install it.

    bad voice coil.

Not really I just remember buying the first series of 3515's ever made..paid 223.20 shipped each (they're like 450 a pop now for some reason) for them and I worked my ass off for those subs...4 bucks an hour in a resturant with taxes getting taken out of that was hardly nothing after I paid for gas and insurance...it might have been 5 bucks an hour..but not over that. I know I worked forever for those damn things...and then I bought a pair of SE's and they made the 3515's look and sound like shit. The rest..is history

    bad voice coil.

It works fine, there's a bit of code that is wonky sometimes when you enter your information and hit check out. It shows the value of the kit zone and we can't figure out why it is doing it. It isn't an error it's just how it is coded...click the thing that says 'payment page' like i've linked below.

That's a fully loaded dual 2ohm high xmax sub..you really need to get the same thing in order for them to match.

Need Help On What BTL I Have

Gotta cut it apart to see what you have...do you have the single slug motor?
  14. Not that i've seen...you've gotta go external to get a decent subsonic filter.

    bad voice coil.

Happens daily...it's automatically our fault because we're at the end of the chain...bulldog mouth on an email or a forum and you get somebody on the phone and they're really a puppy dog and the truth comes out . "welll it was hooked up for a little bit in this box that was tuned to 60hz..and i did play some lil john on it.." or "I don't know what it is tuned to but it was professionally installed.." The saying 'Shit trickles down hill' is very fitting. To the OP. When i was 16, i was working for 4 bucks an hour...and every dime I could save went into my stereo after paying for my insurance for my car, food, and gas. Yeah..it sucks. But you did something dumb...I was in your shoes when I was your age. Except one of the guys who worked at a different company sold me 4 bad amps that shot straight DC voltage into my brand new HC's that I had saved up a year for...they lasted all of 3 seconds. Order a recone on the site and select 'yes' to send in sub. Please make sure that you use original packaging...if you put it in anything else it's going to get broken into 10 pieces.

    About Stetsom Amplifiers

I dont really get your question are you talking about the 1k5h ?? which has the half bridged technology >? Any of them..what are they switching at. You have a frequency in which the gates are opening or closing at..on the fets and/or transistors on the output stage (You can see this on an o-scope if you do not know, you just have to get in the range that they are operating at). The only amplifier in the world that is truly an amplifier is a class A, everything else switches via gates on a mosfet or a transistor..I want to know the operating frequency of that device. 100kHz? 120kHz? Higher? The smaller transformers and parts that are used the higher and harder the gates are being switched on fets/transistors..I want to know what this frequency range is. Well i understand now, i was just making sure its not everyone nowadays that ask me that for the power supply is 26khz and the to the channels (fets) is 104khz on the big models and for the 1k5h is 180khz and the power supply 26khz as you see our amplifier have a big frenquecy respond im pretty sure you asked because you didnt believe the frequency response but Stetsom is the only one the market with this frequency response high like if you wanna compare like Soundigital Their 19Khz for the power supply and e 38Khz for the channels Their amps dont response the frenquency they say they do Everyone knows that in brazil Like for mid bass they are almost head to head on technology and power but when is about music is we are the best If you wanna listen to music, you buy our amplifiers Not exactly. I'll go over everything in the email that I'm going to compile and explain things clearly over the next few days. There is no issue with making a full range class D amplifier... you do not have to prove any of that to me. However there are issues that you are not seeing here yet that I see every single day. I've been very very very very scientific about collecting data and how I've been testing things and looking at things. It keeps pointing back to the same issue because the are zero problems in a class A, or A/B power setup where things are not modulated and are not switched. (A/B is switched to an extent..but not like a class D or an H bridge) Again, I'll compile an email and send it to you. I want to know what is going on with these things and why it is being done like it is done because issues keep popping up with a certain group of amplifiers both Korean, Chinese, and from Brazil...and it is all because everybody is trying to play the efficiency game, taking a blind eye to everything else. I'll shoot you an email when I have on properly compiled and we'll go over the information. If you choose not to talk about the situation at hand that's fine, either way it will confirm my findings. Thanks!

    AA atlas recone

Pretty sure we've still got some coils laying around to recone that one. It won't have the ability to adjust the Qts though, as many people had no idea what that really did anyhow. Where are you located?

    Reconing a BTL

You need to go get an impact screwdriver to get those out. If you do anything else you are just going to strip the heads and have to retap the motor.

Would there happen to be any filtering done for this on the output fets?
