Nothing wrong with having head room so long as he does not abuse it..
-
That box looks really small.

Probably have a coil wired out of phase..if you play it for much longer like that you'll end up roasting the coils. Triple check your wiring.

Orders up through March 2nd are shipping today! Tomorrow orders through March 13th will be shipping. Thanks!

That pioneer SPL 8000 also does not have enough coil to move it past the mechanical limitations of the spiders either. They also..don't have 28mm of 1 way linear travel . We can easily stop this by shortening the coils and gap heights up and killing excursion, that's not a problem. However.. We tell everybody..you HAVE to have a subsonic filter and it HAS to be set right..or you WILL break your sub. Having a high excursion sub is like having a factory built race car...if you can not handle it and drive it into a wall and bend the front end of it up..that is your fault. Not fords.. It's not their responsibility to give you a competency test to see if you can drive it or not..that's why there are organizations like NHRA, to keep people who can not drive fast cars off of the track.

No you can not sew it back together. Your subsonic filter is probably off..the silk screen on the amplifier is a joke at best for a reference point. JL audio explained this years ago in the 1000/1 series that the "25Hz" screen print on the amplifier with the gain pot all the way to the left is actually 16Hz...the "50Hz" screen print is actually 62 or 65Hz.. The only way to set it properly is either with a tone CD and/or a scope to see if the filter is actually doing its job and filtering the low frequencies out. Gotta thank korean/chinese amp manufacturers in putting in "equivalent parts" meaning that if the person who is buying the amps from them and branding them specs a 2% variant part..they do not know if it is 2% variance or not.. It could be 25-30% variance..which would throw the screen print on the amplifier off by upwards of 30-40Hz.

That's what happens when you play below port tuning with an inadequate subsonic filter...or none at all.. Which is why that biiiiiiiiiiiiiig sticker on the box explains that you must have one and set it properly...and in the tech section..and in this video. Adjust your filter, or get one and set it up properly. Play it until it breaks and then get a recone.

..turn the subsonic filter up

Front wasn't printed on your hoodie..back was. When we screen print thing we do everything on one side first, then change screens and do everything on the front. Will go out on Monday.
-
Relax, stop freaking out. Most of the orders have shipped, however there are 4" ones that are going on Monday as they take longer to do than the 3" ones. There are some 3" coil orders that have a hoodie and/or shirt that was not done in time for the order to ship either, so the sub is done..but is waiting on that. Then there are some 3" coil ones that are complete, packed, and missed the 3:30 pickup because they were packed after UPS had ran for the day. It's under control.
-
Which is why that biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig hunk of aluminum surrounds the coil and not the magnet material itself
-
I emailed you back.. We have recones and stuff we can build for them, we've never had anybody blow a 15 yet so haven't had a need to recode the website. Ill try to do that this week if possible.

A 200 dollar sub is not in the same market as a 120 dollar sub.. SSD was priced at 179 bucks, is machined and built here..has a 3" coil..more linear excursion etc. just a fyi.

Sooo, apparently the 10" Dcon isn't good?

what type of wire is the bobbin in a BL wound with (copper or aluminum
NDMstang65 replied to lamontp1's topic in Fi Products
If you got the flatwind then it is a 8 layer flatwind aluminum. -
You're probably smacking the spiders into the top plate...if you haven't already snapped them. Turn your subsonic filter up.

Nothing we can do about it.. It's deal with a small wait now, or wait 150 days for us to get something from china. We no longer do business with chinese vendors..as you can not function if you are out of steel and magnet material for 150 days. Once all of the tooling dies and what not are done for the forgings everything will be rolling along smooth and it will be a 2 week lead time at the very most for us to have new steel in hands. Just a transition period..we're waiting on them to get the pieces to us. We'll be the only people in the industry that says our steel and baskets are forged here...finish machined in house, coated, assembled, magnetized etc.

Dave, Brian did 8 in his house... Says it's absolutely insane. Look up BKOLFO4 on here. There's a build from it.
