You can not hear clipping..your ears are not that good. What you heard was most likely unloading or mechanical stuff of parts running into each other..

So figure that by 65-70% or so..and that's what you are looking at.. ..then hook it to a < 1% efficient speaker and you're really on to something

..cut sheets are there in regards to a shipping crate, you are going to have nearly as much money in shipping a crate to canada then you would a sub.

There are some orders that we are waiting for top plates for that we are calling as we have time to. Some of the BL and Q orders are going to take a little longer as the foundry has been dragging their feet in getting them to us. We should have them today, start to machine them tomorrow and bake them over night and they will start to go out on Thursday.

So, go to them and say, it's the same reason why you do not put 2 tons of bricks into a new F-150 and drive it across the country...it is a half ton truck that is designed to carry 1000 pounds of payload in the bed. The enclosure guidelines are there for good reason, and are there for daily driving and musical installs. Your mechanical power handling is a little less then half of what it *should* be in an enclosure that large, the sub is going to be excessively boomy and you will probably shred the soft parts. We've got cut sheets for you use in the tech section below.. Make them watch the video as well, and print the cut sheet for the btl 12 off for them.

You still have something messed up somewhere..some how..some way. Especially if it has done the exact same thing in two different boxes. For one, the one you have is big enough to bury a horse in..that's one issue. Odds of you having 4 10's..that do the exact same thing (making a 'weird' noise) when there is nothing to make a weird noise other then a potential dustcap coming loose (which we have not had that issue since we changed a few things) is slim to none..we do not have problems with things and speakers do not do what you are seeing, unless something is wrong. I.e. 2 subs working in the box, others along for the ride. You still have ~600 watts a sub now which is not enough at all. What about taking one sub out of the box, putting it on your tailgate or whatever and playing it free air with a 25Hz frequency track? (do not get stupid with volume knob on this you will shred parts quickly) Every single sub we make is tested before it leaves...the odds of you having 4 that "make noise" and they all make the same noise says that there is something up with the install itself. Either you still have settings messed up, the amp is going out, you may still have something wired wrong (missed a terminal in the box from the sub and you have a few positives and negatives messed up and out of phase)..you are not going to yank them past mechanical limitations with the amount of power that you have. Especially considering it takes 400 watts free air to get an X series woofer to full excursion I'm not sure what else to suggest to you honestly, there is something wrong somewhere. If I was there I could probably figure it out in a few minutes.

Ok so what's the verdict with the box? Have you tried running a jumper wire from a friends amp in another car to see if they still sound the same? Have you ran jumpers for the 2 10's in the other box from a completely separate vehicle to see if they still sound the same?

The way you have your diagram wired is wrong..you are only powering 2 woofers and the rest is sort of along for a ride. You have 2 positives of one sub going to a negative of the 2nd one..(that is not series), you always series first, then parallel together, then series after that. If you do it how I made the diagram, it'l work fine... Again, if you take a picture of the top of the box with no wires on it and tell me which studs are + and - for each sub, I'll draw it on the picture.

Apparently I've just got freakishly good hearing.. I can hear the power supply operate in my laptop as well as my flash light charger when it is plugged into the wall. 3dB is a huge difference to me.

after going through..and trying to figure what you've got goinig on wiring wise, I think you've only got 2 subs playing..if that so now that's a 14 cube box..with 2 live subs..and 2 passive radiators throwing the tuning even farther off

If you take all of the wires off of the top of your box and take a picture of your studs I will draw how the wires exactly need to go on your picture.

That's wrong, you don't have coils hooked up. Follow the diagrams I made below step by step and you will be correct. Every terminal should have wire in it.

Why would you want an 8 layer with smaller wire and less excursion? We use the 4 layer long round wire in the Q woofers for a reason

Umm...you're going to hear 3dB of difference..possibly more with double the amount of power (assuming he has around 500 watts a sub now)
