NightshaDe v.2 15 or ssa Zcon 15?
NDMstang65 replied to Chickenwings's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Not true at all .... Magnet slugs are imported from overseas. SSA is proudly built in USA as are the Sundown sub woofers. Both great USA Based companies. id rather have just a part or two imported from overseas than just about everything from over seas (sundown) im very patriotic to our homeland here either sub u go with you wil be happy. but the zcon has my vote. it has proved itself to me what it can do and im very pleased If you only knew where voice coils, spiders, tinsel leads, cones and surrounds are manufactured. Right here..except the tinsels. No American company has the machinery or the ability to weave the wire properly. -
On..Off..or otherwise. It HAS to be set 1-2Hz below tuning. Your excursion below tuning of the port goes up exponentially as you go farther below tuning. We can play the game that Rockford plays and put really short coils in really short gaps and kill the excursion..but then the bottom end will suffer greatly. We don't want to do that. It is not difficult to read and learn from ones mistakes. It's as simple as getting a proper filter..and setting it accordingly. Reading materials that you are given in the packaging and the sticker on the outside of the box would have prevented this from happening to begin with. If you put the Rockford woofers in the same scenario as the BL ill wage one glazed doughnut that the coils melt within a week.

The weiner mobile clearly wanted to commit suicide right? Or was it the loose nut behind the wheel that drove it into the house? Speakers are stupid..they do precisely what you tell them to do, in the environment that you place them in. They are no different then a car. Car wrecks happen because of the human element behind the car that is controlling it...they are not suicidal.

Lack of a subsonic filter is your problem...and bass boost is your issue. You need harrison sound labs f-mods or an adjustable subsonic filter. Watch..learn.
-
Should have waited..you could have just picked it up and not paid shipping.
-
They're rated at 2500 watts at the enclosure ranges that we give...you will be fine with that provided you have your subsonic filter set up properly.
-
If you order the basket yes it includes all of that as well. It is just a drop in assembly, you need to shim it with business cards or manilla folders.
-
Nope..when we have info we'll release it as always. Until then it's the waiting game

Box guidelines haven't changed..they are all just generalizations. It'l work fine.

It takes us three times the amount of time to do a recone than it does build a new sub. (Labor cost here) We do not charge for that labor cost for doing the recone because of the shipping cost incurred by the customer. Shipping is expensive enough as it is, and I don't feel it is right that we charge for labor on top of them having to pay shipping back to us and from us back to them..even though we probably should. Some things you simply take a loss on and write it off. So, in manufacturing something you do things in batches and runs because when you get in 'the zone' of building things and assembling things repetitive motions are much quicker and efficient than grabbing random things and slamming them together. You don't honestly think that a boot manufacture like red wing stops the normal production line every 15 minutes they get in a set of boots that needs new soles put on them do you? Typical lead time is 2 weeks..as explained by our recone process video. It just so happens that he sent his speaker in at the absolute busiest time of the year and the worst possible time you could send one in. Getting 3 more speakers out for people who ordered them for Christmas presents takes priority over doing 1 recone on 1 sub. I'm sorry if you don't feel that way, but that's how things are, it is what works best for us. We get things done as quickly as we possibly can and as efficiently as possible. If we stopped and did re-cones as soon as one came in there would be tons of mix-ups in coils and people would get the wrong subs back and bad things would happen. It is much easier to do in batch form.

bad idea..KISS principle is your friend simple ported..leave it alone.

Email me your name and all of your information to Nick " at " ficaraudio.com and I will look and find out today. There are a few people that we have to call to go over things because the tinsel leads were burnt up and go over their installs. I am sure that you were in that stack of people that we simply have not had time yet to call due to this being the busiest time of year through December and with CES being last week. Relax, you're in good hands. Sometimes it takes us longer to do things than projected.

FI Q 15's Old vs New comparison questions
NDMstang65 replied to accordwithbass's topic in Fi Products
Just a progression in models. We did new spiders and due to putting the spiders down farther on the coil, the baskets have to be spaced up and bumped to keep clearance issues under control. It will break in over time and act very similar to the previous one. -
You aren't going to get a roll up to 100Hz with a box tuned to 20Hz. Most home theater applications start cutting things off on the top end in the 50-55ish range or so. Not a problem reconing them, standard recones will work on the website fine (you need dual 1ohm coils). The problem you are going to run into is you need some sort of other speakers to cover the 60-100hz and up range. A subwoofer especially in a home is not made to do that.
-
really bad idea unless you REALLY know what you're doing otherwise you'll buy stock in recones because you'll keep tearing surrounds/spiders and burning tinsel leads up because the subs unload so easy
-
Order a 3 stack recone off of the Fi website, it'l work fine.

That was an anodizing coating that was used for a long time, it occasionally had issues in tropical areas..but that was when we imported the steel parts. Ever since we've used steel from here we've been coating it and baking it..definitely not a problem now.

Typical lead times are 10-15 business days. Some orders are running a bit behind schedule due to some people being out sick and we're trying to make up for it. When the tracker goes from billing information received, to in transit is when it has left.
-
It would take me a while to go through all the tickets and look them up. I really either need the order number (looks like I-XXXXX/00) that was sent from orders @ ficaraudio.com or the name that it was shipped to. We only do recones 1 day per week as normal production schedule takes priority over recones.
