tuning below the fs of a sub just means you have a major spike in impedance rise. which really hurts cause you loose a lot of power. im think if i get theses subs ill just tune to 33hz im sure i won't loose that much low end if any. 2 10's will have a slight sd advantage over a single 15 and ill be running a lot more power from 400 to one 15 to 500each to 2 10's so im sure itl all work out. now for the port do you think a single 5inch pvc port would be enough or should i go with 2 4inch pvc ports?
-
im sure therell be loud enough to the ear im just worried about low end shake your body bass. im used to an AA atlas 15 ported tuned to 30hz so switching to 10's makes me wonder although i know the box is more important than the size of the sub when it comes to how loud the sub plays. do cvx's like to be tuned higher? like 35hz or would 30hz work also.
-
you should listen to it to see if you like it the way it is. the older xxx could handle more than 1600wrms an the apx doesn't need 5k to get moving. did you ask re how many an what type of spiders they used? they could have put more spiders on to increase mechnical power handling.

"Specifically the coil. for those of you that dont know the alpine type x uses a coil that has windings on the inside AND the outside of the former. what would you think would be the pros and cons of such a setup? I will keep my thoughts to myself at the moment, cuz i may be WAYYY off base thoughts?" thats a copy an paste from chad aka visitor on roe an since there many more sub designers over here figured id post it cause i wanna what advantages a design like this would have? any opinions?
-
ya i would like to know also. interresting design!
-
how much power you gonna use? i have an AA atlas 15 im trying to sell. great sq sub an will get decently loud in the right install. its svc4 an will handle 300-500wrms.

Xcon box size recommendation????
dustin420 replied to Bigmike's topic in Sound Solutions Audio (SSA®)
would 3.5cf net tuned to 30hz using 2 4inch pvc ports be good for 1 15 on 1000-1200wrms? its a tad small so i don't know how it would do with only 1k rms or would it just be better to make a bigger box around 4cf? -
ya any "rocking" of the coil and it would be toast still interresting design! i just don't see how the "pros" of this design would outweigh the "cons"!

huh? all i talked about was le an transit response and i wasn't even explaining them. i was just saying that some peakers will have "better" numbers than others but does that mean the other speaker is junk just cause the le is really high? wow didn't know how anal people were about grammer on here! yes my typing sucks but you got the point of the thread didn't you? anyway take it the way you want but all these this sub vs this sub threads are becoming really gay hence why i hardly post on this forum anymore!
-
ok im sorry but after reading some threads on here people need to know! all these this sub VS this sub threads are pointless unless your comparing 2 way different subs like a btl an cvr most time its gonna come down to install. i think the saying goes 90% install 10%equipment! honestly almost every sub can be made to do whatever you want if the install and overall setup is right! then people are asking which sub will have better SQ and honestly no one can answer that, 1) everyones opinion will differ on what sounds good 2) what is a good way to compare SQ again every install is different! people need to understand every speaker is just that a speaker theres not one thats "better" than the rest, sure their are some that are "geared" to be more spl orientated or one that has a lower LE or transit response but overall its pointless to compare cause the install is the part that makes the speaker sound the way it does! so please everyone who reads this post your opinion. Dustin.

Did I waste my money on these subs?
dustin420 replied to bassmaniac's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
honestly its all install dependant! im sure if you put the cvx's in a great box and the q's in a chitty box the cvx's would dominate the q's and vice versa. but being fair and comparing the 2 i would say the q's are better but the cvx isn't a slouch good overall sub. spl will probally be close to same but sq should go to the q's but sq is totally subjective so....? -
just use the box rec. for the sx, pretty much same sub! i think the only difference is the soft parts but could be wrong!
-
that amp is a mono amp can't "bridge" it! speaker wire anything between 14-10ga will work fine.

ok so my stock tweets are going to sh1t, they make a static noise all the time. so im thinking of just buy some aftermarket ones instead of stock, but i have no clue what to look for in tweets. like soft dome, hard the different materials like silk, titanium, etc. so if someone could give me a crash course in tweets it would e awsome. all i ahve is the HU for power and NO crossover just those gay inline bass blockers. i know ghetto but i wasn't planning on upgrading them but this static is relly gay.
-
if it was the HU wouldn't the other speaks make the static noise also? seems werid that only the tweets make the noise.
-
it does it at all volumes. just when you turn it up it gets louder. nothing else is making any noise. so idk what else it could be.

www.pierceaudioproducts.com contact them they recone a lot of subs.
-
i have no clue, is there anyway to tell by looking at them?
-
well i sent them an email and got a response today! question: "Hey, I seen the website and it looks nice. Just wondering how do these subs compare to the old shocker subs? What replaces the socker 3 and shocker SS subs? also who designs them? If i remember correctly mike Ankey designed the OG shocker subs is he still the designer? Also could i get a price list? Thanks for any info Dustin." Answer: "Thanks, were still putting the site together. The sub are more up to date I would say, except the SIG, the SIG we left alone. It has such a reputation that we did not want to change it . sure the baskets are no black and the dustcaps are different but that
-
seen this http://www.shockeraudio.net/products.html on PWK forums and had to share! Hopefully their as good as the OG sigs.
-
nope not yet but they have prices up for the lowest model. http://www.shockeraudio.net/store/index.php may have to refresh sometimes it comes up other times it comes up saying "coming soon"
-
i'd get a nice plate amp. then just build 2 ported boxes tuned low. or build something crazy like a t-line or horn for a more pronounced low end.
-
i meant don't get caught up with just the size. theres more to a sub then just magnet weight. either case i emailed them asking questions about price, and how they compare to the old models.
-
yes they do, but ill be the first to admit looks mean nothing. if they did everyone would be bumpin audioburn (audiobahn) for tose who don't get it. haha.
