Sub up port back worked well in my Integra. I did only try sub up port back and sub back port back though... Get ready to murder your hatch.

Looks sweet!

There's something in the cart!

My label was created like 2 weeks before it shipped, so you may have more time to wait than you'd like. Don't worry though, it'll be well worth with!

Sweet build, swift. Got a link to your original build with that box?

Haven't heard any of their equipment so I can't really comment on your question, but their recommended box sizes and tuning can be found here: http://www.soundqubed.com/Box-Sizes-and-Tuning-_ep_68.html

That looks insane!

Damn, I just read through 15 pages of dick measuring hoping to see--at least a somewhat--finished product. Can't wait to see what this baby looks like painted!

It's a bummer. I paid an extra $100 for my ICON to get shipped here, but it was well worth it. Definitely better than anything $450 would have gotten me locally.

Ahh, the downside of living in Hawai`i.

I've shoegooed torn surrounds before. Looks ugly, but I couldn't tell any difference in sound.

I'd say it depends on your budget. I love the shit out of my ICON, can't wait to try out an XCON.

Post links to two of your Best/Favorite song's to bump too!

Been on a Queen kick lately. Queen - Don't Stop Me Now -
1.375 is half the width of the port. In my endless research, I've stumbled across threads on 'port end correction' where it's said that when a port runs along a wall it acts as though it's extending itself for an additional half of the port's width. Is this correct or what's the deal? As for the addition, you're correct. I must have mis-copied from my notes.

My 12" ICON is coming in the mail today so I want to finalize a design before before having my buddy build it for me. What I want to know is if I have calculated everything correctly and will in fact end up with 2.3ft^3 at 32.5hz. Here's how I measured the port length. 19.2140 + 14.8723 + 1.375 = 35.312 The the12volt calculator says that this length gives me about 32.5hz. Did I design this correctly? Also, I just used the displacement listed on the product page which is .16. Does doing a double baffle affect this? Click here if you want to download my SketchUp design

When I remove the 45s from the box and line tool the shape of the interior I get 2.5. This gives me 2.34 when I subtract displacement. Mind telling me how you got that number? To reiterate on my original post and be more specific, I'd like to know if I measured the port length correctly also. Measuring the length from the middle of the port and adding half of the port length gives me 19.2140 + 14.8723 + 1.375 = 35.312. Is this right?

I'd really love some input.

Enclosure recommendations for 1 12" ICON

Hey everyone, Long time lurker here, finally decided to pull the trigger on a 12" ICON and would like recommendations for an enclosure. Given my driver choice I'm obviously going for sound quality. But who doesn't like a little bit of output? It will be going in an IS300 and run off of a PDX M12. My ICON will be seeing anywhere from 500-1k watts depending on where it blends best with my front stage. Anyway, I noticed that on the product information page for the ICON there are two different optimum enclosure size recommendations. Under the "Enclosure Recommendations" tab it lists ported optimal as 2.25 ft^3 @29-34hz whereas the "Pre-Designed Enclosures" tab has a listing labeled 12" OPTIMAL PORTED 2.5 ft^3 at an undefined tuning. Given the space that I have in my trunk, it would be a tight fit but I could make a 2.5 ft^3 net enclosure work. Also, considering the dimensions that I have to work with, I can't really use the pre-designed enclosure because my trunk is gutted and custom built. Anything over 17" deep will overlap my amp rack. I listen to different types of music every day including hip hop, reggae, classic rock, oldies, solo guitar, contemporary Hawaiian, and among other things, country. I've run a bunch of different subwoofers/tunings but only my RE SE has seen multiple enclosures so I'm not confident I can say what I liked about x tuning over y given they had different port areas and amplification. A buddy of mine is a cabinet builder and he's been building my enclosures for years. I'll be pulling a favor for this one. On to my questions. Why are there two different sizes listed as 'optimal' and what would you consider given my circumstances/goals? Would the effects of the extra .25ft^3 be anything to worry about? What tuning would you recommend given my diverse taste in music? How much port area would serve me best? Thanks

Enclosure recommendations for 1 12" ICON

Here's a model based on the above pic: I'd like feedback based on the model and the specs listed in my previous post. If this can be improved, how so? Am I missing anything? How can I find out if I miscalculated anything? Are the specs and the design okay? -
Enclosure recommendations for 1 12" ICON

Quick question: Does the bcae ported calculator account for an L ported enclosure? http://www.bcae1.com/spboxnew2.htm Edit: I've been messing around with it and have come up with this: Does this look alright? I'll be doing 45° corners and have added that displacement to the speaker displacement field.
