what do you guys think? RLp 15" trade for 2 RL-i 8
HawaiianBassHead replied to HawaiianBassHead's topic in SoundSplinter
... I liked how the 15" sounded, but I was pleasantly suprised on how my 4 6.5" eu-700's sounded today... I'll post up vids maybe later, as well as putting it on my Termlab hope to run the 4 8"s ported or 2 8"s ported if not... I'm sure they'd get louder and boom nicely -
I checked displacment and the 10" has more in cubic inches. SO the real catch is do I want a pair of 10"s or a pair of 8"s to do the same job and just be more impressive with the 8"s for more money... VERY hard one. I want these 8"s as I have a pair of 2+ 8"s I should fix that bumped when they were working... but for the money lol. it's hard to beat the 3 10"s. I could sell one of them to recoupe some cash too... man... then there will be more posts of me want RL-i 8"s when someone brings it up and we all know you like the attention lol. so I'm torn...

can anyone compare these in output and generally to say a 10w6 v1? Thanks, T I don't have any experience with the 10w6, but I know I can fit two or three under my rear seat sealed where 2 of these could go ported... . I love ported, so I really would like to get these, but the 10w6 is a clone version and are $70ea on ebay new... so I'm wondering if it'd be close I may just get them because they're cheap lol. sold my soloX 10" money should be here today $225+ shipping . oh well thanks
-
also, possibly glass the part where the port enclosure attaches to main enclosure to make it a round 90 degree bend inside for airflow and stuff say a 4" aeroport in there
-
I'd use the part with the subs in it for the port to fit in the box and rear fire the port between the subs also rear firing. get it? It'd be the best imo, especially if you remove the carpet behind the seat and deaden well or use a board as a loading surface good luck...

I metered a pair of RL-p 12"s sealed off an rf 800@2 from a trunk car that was gutted. no rear seat or trunk carpet or anything other then front seats and headliner/main floor carpet. he did a best of 133.2 on my new TL mic. I don't think it was optimum to be sealed, and IF I were to of tested his car I'd of been able to get it louder for sure... I like ported though cabin gain can do wonders... so if that were a sealed box I don't see how much louder it'd go on a real spl sensor, without testing moving the box around and other things can gain spl at a given location say dash

you make me jealous . I sold my DD 8" and some misc parts of one of my mbq comp sets and have about half of the money for one lol. not including shipping. hope someone buys more of my stuff soon... lol once I get enough fundage, I'll be getting me my pair of RL-i 8"s :yumyum:
-
if the Rl-i's are anything like my pair of 2+ 8"s... they'll pound the snot outta these 6.5"s lol... can't wait. I got them for cheap, but then ended up paying more for shipping after the fact along with getting jacked on an amp deal, I could've bought one of these and been set oh well... I want two at once anyway lol.
-
and they're very hard to fit through the 6" cutout even with tiny terminals lmao. before I got them I had no idea which speakers you were talking about. It'll be hard to get the 140 out of them in the truck. But I know someone who's almost at 150 with four of them in his spl install... I have four also, and running them in 2.25ft^3 tuned to 28ish hz lol. need to make a few more adjustments, then I'll meter it. or I'll meter it while making the adjustments perhaps. box is double 3/4" mdf port side is double also. a little overkill for tiny subs lol. I'll post back results soon. I can say straight up the RL-i 8"s even 2-1 would probably be a better choice for most people. can't wait to get more fundage for them little buggers. I NEED at least a pair though. so I'm trying to sell my large subs and or amp 1st cause I'd like to get four incase two aren't enough lmao.

6.5"s should be here saturday or monday. along with an amp for them. once I get them installed I'll put some vids up and meter them on my TL. then as money allows I'll order a pair of RL-i 8"s, I know the Rl-is will have better lows if they're anything like my old 2+ 8"s . and probably better efficiency than mine since the dumax birthsheets said something like 78dB or some crap lol. can't wait to get the 6.5"s installed. I can all but guarantee a 140+ in my old hatch focus, the truck is a different animal though. so it'll be a little harder, bottum of box will be fiberglass formed to tranny hump in floor... maybe the back as well, thinkin bout sticking the front out a little too maybe to get more volume...2.5-3ft^3 gross so I can stuff more port would help me.
-
also, would you like to make a vid playing something nice for roe? there are no RL-i 8"s vids on there I don't think. something to show some of the car flex would be nice. is it back in your buddies Stang? maybe do it in his car? later, T

I'm hoping to do 140+ on the dash, car sealed setups I'll be attempting to get me there. 2 RL-i 8"s 4 eD eu-700's 4 AA Assasin 8"s all ported from under the rear seat of my crew cab titan, THAT is the tricky part. all with a low tune . probably won't do it.... 4 8"s will have the most displacment so should theoretically be the easiest to get louder with. but I want to run 2+ 8"s again since I know how low they can play... then there's the 6.5"s I want to run them to show people what's what with a tiny sub lol... so was that a test tone or music?

Will I be impressed with this upgrade

care to elaborate on the gain in low end extension? I know from running the 8"s my TC's had WAY better low end extension than my 9kv2s. even when I ran 8 of them ported in an 8ft^3 box tuned to 30hz off my colossus genXX they just can't peak down low like the TC's can be made to ported if that's your intent for impressing people by ear and street beating lows are where it's at imo. I'm curious if the RL's are the same way. I metered a guy here with RL-p 12"s sealed on my TL he did a 133 from a trunk cars backseat and trunk lining were not in. but the low bass was very nice for sealed. convinced my buddy to get a pair of Rl-i 12"s ran them sealed same thing, strong low bass. I LOVE that I hate when I play something like Lil Scrappy no problems and my DD or eD's don't like it... That's one of my favorite songs when I run my subs that pound out the lows. Can't listen to it at low volume on some subs... upper end extension is sacrifised a little but there are limitless midbass options available. SUB woofers are for subsonic frequencies -

the local shop here has an MTX jackhammer 22" installed in a huge ported box MTX made for a yukon XL for my buddy. You are the type of person that would have something bad to say about it. The box and sub are $12,000. Just threw it out there to see what type of response you'd have to it. My box the 10" is in is 3.5ft^3 with three 4" aeroports and dual 3/4" MDF all sides triple where the sub is. I actually made the box for a 15" storm X2 neo and used it for the 10" after I cracked all the cones on my storm x2 15"s. 2+ 8"s actually drop pretty nice lows also. I actually pulled the 18" saturday night to go out with the 10", then put the 18" back in sunday morning because I like the way the MTs sound and can't usually go without it for too long. The 10" tuned to 37hz has alot of lows in the facing I had it had deeper lows than the 18" tuned to 30hz the way it was facing. It's all about wave alignment, this was in my grand cherokee. In the focus the 18" dropped alot lower both same boxes. just so you know... -

my solox 10" does 145.2 new TL @ 37hz... that is in my musical box and powered with what I run it daily... I'd like to see you come up with better numbers with a single 15" on bass that low in a hatchback focus... obviously you have no idea what you're talking about! 10"s don't go low and can't be punchy. maybe you need to figure out how to utilize various alignments to achieve a given sound! -

just so you don't think you originated that one I've been running my truck like this for a while. in fact I even had one of my tc2+ 8"s in one like that tuned lower... works pretty good but you'll get better response in one part of the truck than another, something symetrical with port in the middle with two subs one on each side or two with these would sound better overall throughout the car... just a heads up. I'm into spl so I need peaks on the passenger dash.. -

protos I've seen no proto's... I still need a wicked sub stage for my Titan I'll have a little under 3ft^3 of a fiberglass box to run a few 8"s sealed might do a pair of W7's or these or maybe the new Treo 8"s if they come out soonish. I'm doing a 145.2@37hz in my car with a 10" soloX in a large music box so I'm hoping I can crack a 142 maybe in my truck with a couple 8"s I may port a pair. if I do that DD's will probably mic the loudest and these will be in there for sq/daily. can't wait I'm doing a glass center dash box for a pair of MBQ QSD 4" comps gtg work on it speaking of late. wondering what these amps do power wise I know a guy who has one or maybe it was the VL-200. He said 1000watts or 600watts don't remember. Think he wants like $300 for it. for a used old school amp that may or may not last a couple years I figured I'm over it. was thinking it'd be nice to have though. I recently sold my USA50 that never once gave me such as a hiccup of a bad time . not too loud but still. never had a single time where it went into protect on me or anything like that... thinkin it'd be nice if the bigger amp did the same for years of playing...

Premium & Ignition Series Updates
HawaiianBassHead replied to SoundSplinter's topic in SoundSplinter
so what will this new surround look like? it will give max cone area right? not some huge wide surround? I hope... Mike four sealed work in about 2ft^3 total gross? or maybe a little larger? I may just try two and see how I like them ported than sealed and ponder if it'd be worth getting two more sealed over 2 ported. -
The ring has been as exciting as a girl who says..

if you really want to get one with full excursion vid up til the point it spills it's slinky like coil all over itself through the dustcap lmk. I have alot of Team Members who have big amps JBL/Crown 6000 can do 8krms 4ohms bridged so... shout me a hollar if you guys need one blown on video always willing to help... My mm4000.1d's can do alot of power 4ohms bridged, surely enough to bend the cone/unwind a coil on one of these. Team Livewire Mike tested them to do 4krms 4ohms reactive on 12v in one install I'll leave it at that . Yes, I have a hard time holding subs together with these. My MT is gone, soloX has the spair in it and I can easily kill that too. Storm X2's are all broken... so uh... yeah, more power isn't always a good thing. All my subs I can recone myself, but it gets expensive when I don't have a parts warehouse! -
no offense but you guys have measly power lol. mike, would u like to send it to me to test? It might break in shipping or testing. but it'd be worth it if I got to test it 1st lol. my mm4000.1d are capable of 4krms 4ohms bridged each at about 13v where they drop to. should be intresting. I'm going to try a soloX 10" to see if it'll take the pressure. if it does I'll get rid of my MT and get another solox 10" and with two amps it should be as loud as the 18" off one more stealthy.
