Just wanted to say you have a great company and I have been happy with your products before BUT never again will I order a subwoofer off of your store and pay almost $100 to have it shipped to me. If i hadn't already decided on an 18" zcon I would of ordered fromsomewhere else. Just kinda sucks but im sure the sub will be great!

1000 watts for now then bumping it up to around 2000-2500 once I sell my current sundown stuff

I have an 18" zcon on order so I'm starting the build here in the next couple days. I have two designs worked up and just curios what every one thinks would be better, more so concerning port area. I plan on using either a 10" or 12" round port. Box will be sub up port back in an 06 xterra. First design: 6.93 cubic ft. after all displacements with A 10" port tuned @ 37 hz port area = 11.38 per cube Second design: 7.4 cubic ft. after all displacements with a 12" port tuned @ 37 hz port area = 15.28 per cube Just curious what everyones thoughts are, thanks

So I installed my system on wednesday and Im having a problem with my bass cutting out at higher volumes. If I turn it down it comes right back. I would say it cuts out around 2/3 volume depending on the song. i also tried with the sub gain in a range of position from 0 to half with it set on the radio at the center position. I checked the amp and the blue light stays on the entire time and no other lights come on. Heres my current setup vehicle 09 cobalt ss radio stock processor/loc mtx req sub amp sundown sae 1000 subs (2) sa-12s d4 4 gauge wire first time setup: subs wired to 1 ohm (verified on dmm), battery output at idle 14.2v, amp grounded at battery(in trunk). using auto sense on the req to supply turn on for remote. started having the problem so I checked the remote by hooking it straight up to 12 volts, that didnt help. changed the ground to chassis via seat latch (sanded to bare metal) still no change. I rewired the speakers to 4 ohms and verified with a dmm. Im still having the same problem and not sure where to go next. Should I try a plain old loc from walmart or something? I have used this amp before with no issues in another vehicle. Any advice on what to do next?

Yea I have always had aftermarket radios before now. The mtx req does have adjustable gain but its not helping. New cars are such a pain with all the add ons to retain factory interfaces.

When the new icons come out will I be able to get mine reconed and matched to a newer model so I can buy a new one to match? I will also need mine changed from d2 to d1.
-
Im looking for two 15's that will do well in 4 cu.ft. sealed after all displacements, preferably on the cheaper side. Im not sure when the new icons are coming but i have 1 blown 15 that I could recone and buy another 1. Any advice?

recommendations for 15" sealed 187s?
-
What program is that?
-
Wouldnt it be possible to get a 18" basket from fi and maybe an 18" recone kit from them or from an xcon cone kit and basket? How monstrous would the box be lol 10 cuft?

After retihinkin my budget I think Im going to go with one sa8, only problem is I cant seem to find many small amps for 400-600 rms. Anybody have a suggestions? I see kicker has a 600 and so does alpine but there lots of$$$
-
Well I was thinking an 8 because I could put it on the floor in front of the center seat, so its looks pretty. Plus I can add more later. Seen a setup with 4 of them under the backseat, but I cant really afford all that right now.
-
Don't have it yet, I like to buy amps before I buy subs. Gives me more choices that way.
-
For 600 rms yeah, doesnt have to be brand new its probably just gonna get shoved under a seat.
-
eh probably 200, I'm actually trying to buy back my old sae 1000 lol should of never sold it.

Any advice on doing an external port, like how to attach it and are there any negatives to doing this? Im planning on getting 2 sa-8's and putting them under the back seat of my 03 extended cab 1500. I will have the port coming out the side of the box under the seat as well. I plan on making it so I can remove the port to exchange with others, really just to see the difference and also because of size restictions. Box will be 2 cubes after sub displacement, so I will probably do a 5"x6" port 32.5 inches long for 33hz tuning and another one fro 38 or 40 hz. Thanks for any input guys.
-
Honestly probably not. If i do a slot port theres now way im getting it to fit built into the box. I have used aero ports in the past and like them, would one 4 inch be sufficient for 2 cubes? that would be easier to get a good seal with.

I just got my 15" icon dual 2 on monday =) So anyway im probably about 75% done building a fiberglass box for it and I may have to invert the sub to get the neccesary air space. When i do that I have to reverse the polarity correct? So for a 1 ohm load at the amp I would run amp + to sub - on voice coil 1 and amp - to sub + on voice coil 2 and then connect the remaining 2 terminals together. Is that correct?
-
ok thankyou for the advice. one more quick question though, my amp also has phase on it as well. So if I do reverse the wiring do I also turn the phase to 180 as well? Its a sundown sae 1000.

I finished my fiberglass box yesterday for 1 15" icon yesterday, kinda anyway. Its a little on the small side at 1.8 cubes. I plan on adding some polyfill to bring it up to ssa's specs for 2-2.5 cubes. I just dont know how much to add, I have a 20 oz bag of polyfill at the house. Any advice?
-
So I should put in almost 2 pounds of polyfill?
-
Okay, thankyou... I have never inverted a sub or had a sealed setup lol.
