I was afraid to hear that Before I part with the btl i guess I'll try 5.5cu @ 30hz with 120sqin of port. If that doesn't cut it, I'm going to do two xcons sealed. I just need the 16cube behemoth gone :/

Your posts give me the giggles buddy. I literally don't have an insult for you that I think you'd be able to make sense of Speakers are pretty simple, they do what they are told to do. That being said, I know I've blackened a few coils thinking I was still putting out clean power, but I'm a little hard on my equipment, I know this. I would say for sure get it reconed, and try it out on a different 2k, and see how it sounds. You most likely have, but have you tried different box orientations? Forward sounds cleanest in my truck, up is loudest, and back is the quietest, but the easiest to blend with the mids. If you have the space, try it out. The surround being gnarled is a bummer, I can't even imagine what happened, I can't say I've seen that in person.

Lol do you think they'd even be relevant still if that was the case? Use your noodle. -

What's considered window line in a comp vehicle?
SpeakerBoy replied to SpeakerBoy's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
I'm trying to get an idea of what class I'd have the most fun in, if it's trunk line I'll probably wall instead to be perfectly honest. I guess I could find a 49.9 class I could do til spring when I take the Neer to get clammed. What are the organizations that score you on music runs? I looked up a few rule sheets but it's all starting to blur together trying to decide where I'll fit in. I don't think stock anything would be for me, I'm gonna fuck my front doors up with my front stage planned lol -

What is considered the windowline in a competition vehicle? My doors and my trunk windows have a different height. Also, do they have no wall classes with a height limit vs the window rule? -
How much could my electrical handle?
SpeakerBoy posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I'm curious as to what I could upgrade to with my current electrical system. I currently have zero issues with voltage at full tilt with all lights and a/c on blast, steady 14.0 with my AB PH-4000 and Lanzar Vibe 231 (ick, yes eww) I have two group 65's and a group 29 ran with zero, big three with 200a alt. Batts are under backseat, so pretty short runs in my mountaineer. I used less than 30ft of wire (direct runs both positive and negative). How can I estimate this myself for future reference? -

Voltmeter wiring

Don't buy a tool that doesn't simplify anything, pretty much summarizes Meades products. Like buying a hammer screwdriver combo why Its only a bitch to learn the proper math once. Then it's a priceless tool that's also applicable outside of audio -

Measure the dimensions of your battery location and buy the largest you can fit -
Taramps 250x4 dead, and no idea as to why
SpeakerBoy posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I was swapping my pioneer hu out and putting my sony back in, and somewhere during the installation something happened, and now my T250x4 doesn't turn on anymore. The board stinks like a dead amp, but the internal fuse is fine, and the inline fuse is fine =[ I am not sure where to go from here as far as fixing it, everything else in the car works fine, and I'm just weirded out that it might happen to another amp. Thinking about replacing it with a PPI900.4 o.O I checked all my wires, even pulled them out, inspected them and re ran them (I only have 6 or so ft of 1/0 power, and a matching ground run to a block, then from the block to the amps). I sorta feel retarded. My 200a alt is going to arrive any day now, and i'll have plenty of bass but no mids lmao. -

The negative terminal isn't connected to the board anymore, I opened it up. About 2-3mm gap. Lead melted. The 30a internal fuse is intact though. Weird. Gonna solder it up and see whut it dew -
Never had problems with the BRX line. Took plenty of abuse and kept on thumpin. I hear often that they do rated as well.

Yup yup, it can be a small pain to do, but much preferred to car fires ._. -
I keep getting kicked every time the page refreshes, and i'll get a white screen when I click sign in; I have to erase /login from the url and try it five or six times to get back into the forum. Is this a me issue or a forum thing?

No more issues on my end anymore. Thank you =]

HO alt installed, more dimming, amp protects

New lights (overdue), new amp, new alt, first, more listening practice. Got it. -
HO alt installed, more dimming, amp protects
SpeakerBoy posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
So I finally got my 200a alt installed, but something odd happened when bumping now, I get more dimming, occasionally the amp protects for a moment then cut back on, but my battery voltage is on average higher. I was wondering if the former was due to me having only done the big two, as I have direct power and ground lines; the other, I mean, I think I had it gained a little high and now that it has what it needs, it's clipping like crazy trying to balance with the Sony signal. The hu is becoming a massive headache in that aspect. I lowered the gain, but I really want to be able to run my heat lights and stereo without issue =[ I do have only a single battery for now, I'm trying to figure out the biggest single cell I can fit under the hood of my truck right now. After that, I'm buying a pair of interstate 8D Batts for the trunk. -

Is a frame ground with direct power runs even relevant? I only haven't tried because it means new terminals and I want to save for some nice anodized ones. -

Update, three batteries, 200a alt, still get dimming with a total system power of <2k rms. Dimming is unaffected by AC, lights, etc. Steady voltage, drops to 13.2 at idle full tilt, 14.0 while driving. Ideas? Direct power and ground runs, amp is 12in from rear bank, 6ft from front, I can play for like three or four hours car off, so I feel like I have enough reserve... Baffled. Am I expecting too much out of a 1.5k amp and just running it too hard? Finally getting an ear for hard clip on the beetle, so I feel that can't be the sole issue, not to mention it's got a good protect on it, it locks up when I hit it too hard so idfk -
I spend more time here than pornhub, I hope we can figue this out soon ._.
