I can't find my usb for my phone to upload pictures, so i'll post a link to a similar one. It's buried in the garage, I'll try to dig it up this week some time. This one is even the same color. https://invimg.autofunds.com/InventoryImages/2012/12/15/1672_290880_18020667_471215072012.jpg -

Looking at getting four Obsidians; if I were to wall it i'd go with eighteens, but in a regular enclosure, i'll just do fifteens, i'm not to sure I could do four eighteens ported in the space I have. As for why, I assume it would much easier to get loud with less space to pressurize. It's only for music though, i'm not after numbers. And of course the wow factor. I'm after some flex and vurred blision, low notes and a moderate amount of quality to go along with it. -

Where's the best place to measure at, front battery, rear battery, or at the amp? I have it at the rear battery now. -

It's the nature of the music. It's intentionally distorted. You do know what dubstep is, yes? -

Is adding a diode to the alternator sensor cable potentially detrimental to the lifespan of the alt? I find I have to keep it low for two to three days depending on how much I drive, to charge the batteries back up. I have two 12v cells, and my alt only charges at 14.4v cold it usually sinks to 13.8v warm and if I throw square waves at the system, playing dubstep or such, it'll touch 12.9v. I have a duralast under the hood and an everstart maxx marine in the back, which I thought would be far more than enough for <1500rms. It it okay to rest in the high twelves while playing music? I was a lot more comfortable when it was 13+ and not sure, but it seems to sound weaker at lower voltage. -
I picked up a 2004 blazer yesterday, I'll post a couple pictures when it's a little cleaner My first car

Now this sounds stupid as fuck because if you read it wrong it'll sound like a useless thing to ask, but hopefully you'll know what I mean. It seems to me that larger woofers, or well, more cone area makes the bass sound rougher around the edges at high volume. Not like clipping, but not a pure smooth note like at lower volumes. It goes away a little with the door open so I can only assume it's the pressurizations effect? I like it but I don't know what to call it. I only notice it with lots of cone and sealed up, and mostly in SUV's. Not really a question but just curious if it's 10 years of shit speakers or i'm right. I think I'm right, my friend has BTL's and those aren't shit

I'd be going from 750rms to 3,000rms. Edit: Oh I read it out of order, I got you. But, my budget for an amp is tight; I would like a Sundown 1.5k, but It's a little difficult to dig that deep; what do they go for used? On Db-r it's about $380, I guess it's not too bad, considering the pure is $300. I'm terrible at waiting I am not so concerned with how much, but how loud. The subs aren't doing what i'd like them to at the moment, so I am going to switch out the box and amp. I stuffed them with 30oz of polyfill each today, and while it's a tighter smoother sound, it didn't help the lows .-. I sent an inquiry to Singer and he said about $450 O.O alts are moneyyyyy, i've never priced them before :| -

Is 2ga big enough or should I trim off some slack 1/0 to use? -

I am trying to buy an amp i'll be able to use for a set of four obsidians after next summer is over. Until then i'll going to run it at four on my current subs. My other option is a precision power 1800w. I read around and they said the Pure 3k does rated power, albeit not very efficiently (64%) -

I installed my 1/0 and am going to pick up some 2ga wire for the Big three later on this week; I have the marine battery double grounded in the back, a 5ft run of 1/0 and an 18in run of 2ga; then 2ga power and ground to the amp from the battery, about 12in each. My voltage meter dropped two notches after installing my wire, why would that be? I can't find my digital one, so it's not exact, but it is still above twelve; it's thirteen at lights and fourteen while rolling. I'm only running about 900wrms right now, including my doors, and it doesn't move while the amps do work, so I can't figure it out. I am considering waiting on building a ported box, and picking up a Pure Audio 3000.1, just to have a little more power on tap, even if it doesn't do rated, It'll be enough. And for $300 shipped, I can't complain. What would be a better move for after I snag the amp, a 270a alt, or an addtional pair of marine batteries? -
larger woofer sound vs smaller woofer sound

Oh dammit stupid mobile app I forgot to check what forum I was posting in this isn't a build >.< -
I had a last minute change of heart and decided to scoop a pair of Obsidian 18's. Can anyone give me a general idea of what size to build it? I am still going to get a BC2000 or a SAZ-1500 (The sundown is so much prettier .-. ) and I would like to tune it lowish for chopped and screwed music. Is 26hz too low to be realistic for music? I don't listen to hardly any rock or metal, mostly slowed rap so tightness and accuracy are hardly concerns of mine (my xplodes are going into the fire pit though) What would be an optimal size for a pair of 18's? Once I get a feel for how big it needs to be, i'm going to see what dimensions I can squeeze out to keep the box as low as possible while having it big enough. Subs up port back n stuff. Also, how far from the hatch should I have the box? I'ma bolt the sucker down after I finish it in bedliner. I'm buying my 1/0 tomorrow and my radio this weekend

I don't want to sound like an asshole, but you have close to 1500 post here and you don't know the answer to this question???? He just bought his first car lol. Every system that I've seen him do has been in a backpack.I understand and that's all cool that he got a whip, but having nearly 1500 post just on this forum and not knowing why its bad to play your system with the vehicle off is beyond me I guessMost of my posts are from the first year I was on the forum and fangirling about LMS Ultras and fantasy systems. Not reading and paying attention like I shoulda lol. -

I'm used to dealing with small time amps; never really realized how much harder the big boys draw. Just picked up a marine at walmart; and cracked and am going to the pawn in the morning to throw a pair of fifteens in while I wait. Can't pass it up for the price, box, amp, subs for $200; they keep lowering the price because noone wants to carry them out of the store, it's a pair of mojos I believe. No clue on the amp, but going past the welding supply co on the way home tomorrow to get some wire. for a 1500D should I get a 200A fuse or a 250? -
