Happy birfday Thanks for learnin' us youngins!

for example, if two people are speaking to you at the exact same time, would it improve your ability to understand them? Nah, it'd sound fucking weird.find one capable driver, not two lackluster drivers.

That is only because there is more stupidity in SPL geared installs. Not bass induced incoherency?

I thought this was a joke til a can of wipes fell off my dad's tool shelf and hit me in the face this morning.

I heard an HD3 15 trunk walled in a lancer, and for a fifteen in 4.5 @ 33hz, on 1500w it rolled off high as hell, the low lows just weren't there. The higher notes were forceful, but the lowest notes just went missing.

Cooling your woofer motor to increase performance
SpeakerBoy replied to SpeakerBoy's topic in Advanced Discussion
O_O -
This isn't exactly a question I have, but here goes. My friend is a big physics geek and on the topic of speakers, he asked why we don't have cooling devices to keep operating temperatures low so resistance is more predictable, and less influential. I Don't really know how to answer him, could some of you throw me some ideas why it isn't a practical idea? My only thoughts on it are practicality regarding a mobile environment and the equipment needed, as well as cost. But why don't filhy rich folks use woofer coolers to take advantage of their amps? I'm interested to see what gets said here It seems cool in theory (no pun intended) Just really impractical.

How involved are you willing to get? There are two kinds of answers you'll get here, but that's the determining factor. Willingness to learn, and to practice.

Cooling your woofer motor to increase performance

This was lost on me, can you clarify...Google law of diminishing returns. Then re-ask Well I know the concept of diminishing return lol Are you just saying that it's not beneficial to cram it into a casing with an amp as far as, it isn't enough benefit to outweigh the costs of redesign and production? -
I think see multiples more in SPL geared installs, where sheer volume is concerned. Accuracy is already out the window at that level, lol.

I always wanted twin BTL twelves, perfect sleeper system. "what's that fi garbage bro? haha I got two BOSS 12's that will beat those!" Then feed them 5k to the dome

Nothing beats testing, especially when the board is dead lol.

I'm not the best at interpreting graphs. Kind of surprised someone else hasn't chimed in by now. First thing I would do is make a port plug, and see how it sounds sealed. I'd plug it and test it for air leaks but give your ears a little to be unbiased from the ported box, and give it a listen.

I know. Asking an entirely different question, not about the motor lol. -
Large sealed is my favorite sound on average, it's smoother and cleaner; but that's just with woofers I have used myself (meaning any woofer can produce good sound when treated right). I just have never had enough surface area to stay sealed and enjoy the output (SPL nut at heart)Ported gets nice and violent done right, but it is much harder to someone new to enclosure design. I'd say build a sealed box on the larger side of recommended and if you need more low, try stuffing it (about 1lb/cubic foot of polyfill). What kind of power will you be giving it? That will have a role in enclosure design. And, music, movies, or a blend?

What about using that (Dyson fan style) airfoil technology to cool amps o.O -
Downfiring, have at least 1/2 the woofer diameter distance from the floor tuning, tune low for HT, 20-30hz would be a start aeroports are easier to use, but it's user preference really. I'd post more but i'm sick as shit, everything sucks x_X hope that helps a little
