Misfires a lot less when I run premium in it I've noticed

It NEVER shudders when overdrive is off and only slips when the engine has been warmed up for some time

Dual oem alt for cheap upgrade?
SpeakerBoy replied to SpeakerBoy's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Worth it to just snag 320 or 370 and call it a day then? Shooting for solid 14.4v at full tilt. Don't plan on more than 4-5k rms for a decent while.Hifonics 2k, taramps 250x4 and I think I'm gonna put a power strip somewhere in the back for tools n whatever maybe a NES or something. Considering a light bar but that's just an impluse buy, I don't leave the city much. -

I can pick alternators for $20 at my local yard, for an extra hundred odd amps would getting a bracket fabbed be worth it? Not planning to exceed 3k rms for a year or so. Just a hifonics brx 2k and a taramps 250x4. Suppose I'm askin, how much would a bracket and a longer belt run me? -
Yeah, it sounds way more involved than I would have hoped. Wish me luck .-.

Definitely have the 5.0 I think terminology is what's killing me here. However many gears, there's a wild shudder occasionally into the last gear
-
Still super confused. Would a video of my tach and speeedo first through fifth help? I never questioned it being a 98 untio you asked me if I was sure lol
-
Could the "shuddering" be it misfiring? My knowledge is limited but it doesn't feel like a misfire. But you're right, I'll read those first; This is my first job I've ever worked 60hr weeks, I've been super lazy Post back after that =]

What should I look at with the awd system?
-
So what's happening after fourth gear? What's the shudder I feel? and are you referring to overdrive/5th as the torque converter? Tryna get my terminology correct
-
No? I can hear it go 1-2-3-4-5 I can count...I think... For real, I would bet money I have a five speed. If I turn off O/D it'll operate as a four speed though. In fifth gear at 2k im doin about sixty

Lucas will help with things like trans shudder. I'm not familiar with Fords, but if he has some trans clutch shudder and not actual slippage it may help. Worked like a charm in my GM truck to fix it. My dad uses it to fix shudder issues at work. To the OP, keep in mind when you add something like Lucas you need to drain an equivalent amount of fluid out so you aren't overfilling the fluid when you add the Lucas. As to the OP, most trans shops especially the larger regional names (Summit Transmission, etc) will offer financing since the majority of people don't have enough spare cash on hand to pay for an expensive auto repair. You will however have to QUALIFY for that financing, credit and budget wise. If you are seriously in need of help, I work for a finance company locally that has some referral relationships with local auto repair/trans shops. We deal in higher risk customers primarily, so if the credit thing is sketchy for you I can see what shops we have a relationship with as many of the retail finance companies will generally require you to be a reasonably low credit risk. Slips on first gear and uphill, shudders something awful from fourth to fifth. Financing is something I'm definitely going to have to look at, this is my only vehicle right now, I'm working on acquiring a second as well. As far as the amount of work involved here, since I'm keeping the truck either way, should I grab a beater vehicle before messing with the trans?
-
No I mean like would it help? In addition to fixing it I'm also interested in learning about transmissions.

Why do you say that? Should I still try adding Lucas? I added one the day before I posted this and it helped a little but Im new to diagnosing mechanical issues

*facepalm* For reallll quit shittin on me lmao Where can I get an estimate on a triple alt bracket for the 5.0, and what do I about the wiring harnesses, can I just splice them together or do I need a device? I supposed that's what I meant to ask in the first place I have a friend with a cnc....is it so expensive because they need to know the dimensions of the motor as well and have to precision machine it? I mean, its on my list of things to do anyway, and for forty* bucks I can have the extra amperage until I can afford the Singers and lithium batteries. *minus the cost of the bracket -

I can get a triple alt bracket, run three oem alts for the time being, and wheN I get my lithiums I can switch to singers How can you tell me no one makes a bracket? Out of all the builds I've seen on here alone, I call bullshit. People fab multi alt brackets. -
I name my cars because at this point in my life its so much more than transportation to me. It's my hobby, my job, my personal space, I truly love my car. I feel like having an attachment to it leads to being more motivated to take care of it.
