Which speakers to power off Alpine CDA-9886???
mwoehr replied to mwoehr's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Would you say they're better than Kickers or JL Audios? -
I friend of mine is doing a budget system and wants some good coaxle's. He just wants a pair of 6x9s for the rear and 5 1/4s for his front doors. I had a pair of 3 way MTX 6x9s back in the days and imo they gave me pretty good highs. Who else makes good quality coaxle's? He's going to power them off a Alpine CDA-9886.

Was just wondering which of these would be louder. Either powered by a SAE-1200D. 2 JL Audio W3v3 13.5 subs, each in 1.75 cubes sealed or 2 JL Audio W7 10 inch subs in a Pound That Sound: Kerf Flared Slot Port Enclosure

I have a Corolla Type S and I really need help with trunk measurements. I'm getting a box made by Trev of Pound That Sound and I need to give him measurements and I really suck with it.
-
I took care of it.

Yes, correct. As I stated, I suck with doing measurements.

I am purchasing either of these pairs of 12s this weekend. Either set will be powered by a JBL GTO 1200.1 II amp wired to do 700 watts 4 ohms. Either set will be in a Pound That Sound Double Kerf Flared ported enclosure. I looked at many pairs of 12s and narrowed it down to these 2. I want a setup that'll get loud and sound clean. I listen to mostly rap and bass and on ocassion some rock and metal. 2 SSA dcon 12's or 2 DC Sound Labs Level 2 12's

To get 2 DC Audio Level 2 12's or 2 SSA dcon 12s????

I decided on a pair of the dcons. I just bought them :bigclap: -
How are these subs? Are they loud? Do the sound clean? How do you think they compare to the SSA dcons? I'm getting either a pair of the Level 2 15s for sealed operation, a pair of Level 2 12s for ported or a pair of the dcon 12s for ported operation. I'm looking to purchase one of these pair of subs today! Do the Level 2s get loud sealed? I just want a loud and clean setup. Either pair will be powered by 700 watts.

Wait till u hear them thump.. they suprised the hell out of me when i went to marks to check them out.. i cant wait to see this I'm considering a pair of the dcon 12s in a PTS double kerf flared ported box powered off a JBL GTO 1200.1 II amp wired to do 700 watts at 4 ohms. Where they loud?

I also could get the Level 2's for an awesome price. -

True, but so do the DC Level 2s. -

I totally agree with you. That's why it's such a hard decision. DC makes some very impressive subs, as does SSA. -
I voted for the RL-p. I just want to hear one in real life so bad. If you get that for her, we meeting up again hah for a quick listen Of course dude

My car is a 2006 Corolla Type S. Right now my lights dim when I turn the bass up loud and my Icon 15 makes a funny smell (kinda like paint or burning rubber). I'm pretty sure it's due to my electrical setup and my weak ass Batcap 800 which I regret getting. My system now: Stock 70 amp alternator (without big 3), Coaxle 5 1/4s in the doors and 6x9s in the rear deck (Both powered off my Alpine deck), Batcap 800, JBL GTO 1200.1 II amp (puts out 1100 watts at 2 ohms), SSA Icon 15 in 3.5 cubes tuned to 30 hz. My new setup Idea: Stock 70 amp alternator (with big 3), ditch the Batcap 800 and get a Stinger solenoid and a Stinger SP1500D or SP1700, ditch the Coaxles in the doors and rear deck and get a good component system in the doors and power it off a Sundown SAX-125.2. Where the 6x9s were I'll just have 2 empty 6x9 holes in the rear deck that the bass will vent through, upgrade my box to a Pound That Sound Kerf Flared port box that's made to optimize my Icon 15.

Right now I have an Icon 15 in 3.5 cubes tuned to 34hz being powered by a JBL GTO 1200.1 II amp that puts out 1100 watts at 2 ohms. What I'm thinking of trying is a sealed 18 in 4 cubes and powering it with a Sundown SAE-1200D. It's just a thought. I have had sealed setups and liked them before and never tried an 18 before. So far I'm looking at either a Fi Q 18 or SS RL-p 18.

I'm getting a bigger alternator sometime very soon. So you don't think I should get a Solenoid and a good sized dry cell in the trunk? What's a good battery to put up front in your opinion? An Optima Yellow Top?

I haven't heard much about these subs and are curious about them for a friends vehicle. Was just wondering how these subs are and how they compare to other subs in there power range? Like the RE Audio SR's, DC Sound Lab Level 2's, SS RL-i series and AA Assassins? My friend is looking for a good pair of 12s to power off a 600 watt Kicker amp. He wants it to get loud and sound clean in a ported enclosure. The Dcons look promising but I haven't heard much feedback about them since they were released.

Are you sure my alternator is too small? I've seen people push alot more power than I got with just their stock alternators and extra batteries. Doesn't really matter what other people are running. There are a lot of different variables to account for. Unless you found someone else with the same car as you pushing more power with more batteries and no dimming, a bigger alternator is the way to go. If your alt can't keep your battery charged now, how on earth is it going to be able to charge the second one you buy? True, I am going to look into a bigger alternator and am going to replace my Batcap 800 with a good dry cell.

I really look foward to this!

I always thought a super woofer was a woofer that can get as loud as a multi sub setup and maintain good sq. I would have to say the RL-p series definitely falls into that category.

I'm looking for some good coaxial speakers. I had a pair of MTX 4 ways and I liked the way they sounded alot, however I can't find them anywhere anymore. What I liked about them were they were built tough and gave me great highs with alot of detail. Who makes tough built coaxial speakers that come in 4 or 5 way 6x9s? I was looking at Pioneer 5 way 6x9s. Are Pioneers any good? I want a good pair of 5 1/4s and 6x9s. I had Kenwoods, but those sucked compared to the MTXs I had.

Very inpressive  How much power are you throwing those Icon 10s? Another sub that I also think destroy the T1 and T2s are the SS RL-p's!
