That's actually what I've been leaning towards.

Yes, but don't they require a much bigger box than that to sound their best?
-
Did you read the amp I have? I only have 500 watts to power one of those pairs with.

There is NO best. Intelligent hobbyists understand this. Your the "dumb" one I described above. Tight bass has NOTHING to do with sub size. So you are saying that you can get the same tight bass out of a 15 that you can out of a 10 I think not.. I know that the box has a lot to do with it..... But if you don't know how to build a box you wont get tight bass.. Dumb ass. Lets see you get tight bass out of anything else. and in tell you can prove it keep your friggin mouth shut. If you want to go out of your way to be ignorant I'll play. I can be VARY ignorant. want to see The only ignorance here has been exhibited by yourself. In fact, you're bordering on stupidity. Do you know what???? I think that this is a pretty shabby display for most of the Mod's on this on this thread. If you are a Mod you should be leading by example. There should be no Name Calling making fun of or anything to this degree. This all started because M5 (a Mod here) was calling people "STUPID". And other Mod's followed suit. If you ask me Mods should be held at a higher ACCOUNTABLITY then the rest of the people on the Forum. And I don't think that it should be accepted or tolerated. so when you continue to make asinine comments based on your misguided opinions what do you want the mods to call you, special? i think you're fighting a losing battle here, seeing as none of the points you've tried to make can be validated empirically. Just because you are a MOD doesn't make you a god... Nor does it mean that you know everything.. Or anything at all really. If ignorant comments aren't tolerated by normal people why is it ok for the MOD'S. And I like all the big words. Do they make you feel Special. and still no one answered my question. "OK if we are here to learn teach me how calling someone "STUPID" is constructive criticism??? Where I come from it's counter productive. Just a question???" I agree with that 100% as well.

Please put up a site with some pics!

Please correct me if I'm wrong. Does polyfil slow down the air in the box and make a sub sound as if it is in a larger box? So say I have a pair of 15s and they require between 1.5 cubes per chamber and 2 cubes per chamber each sealed. Say I put them in 1.5 each, could the appropriate amount of polyfil in each chamber really make them sound as if they are in 2 cubes each?

FOSHOOO So you bought a 3000 watt amp and 2 Nightshade's to be quiet? He probably did it for his enjoyment and his hatred for his sense of hearing (lol), not to solely make people turn their heads as he drives by. word lol. That gotta be crazzy loud. I personally know what they meant with their point of being respectfull with the volume. I personally turn mine down at lights and keep it low in the neighborhood at night, but there was no reason to bash on the kid and be a total d!ck. He tells the kid to grow up and yet speaks about the size of the kids penis wtf lol.

Word, some people on here are a$$holes and think they're high and mighty and like to talk down to people.

My girlfriend has a Sundown SAE-1200D and wants a single 18 that'll pound in 4 cubes sealed. She prefers the sound a sealed setups. These are the ones that caught her eye.
-
Could someone please explain how these work. I know of the advantages of sealed and ported over eachother but where do these fall in?
-
Do they have more output than sealed? Do they run as big as sealed or in between sealed and ported?
-
I just put my dcon 12s in a sealed box in 1.25 cubes each and they are being powered by a Rockford Fosgate T500-1bd. I understand that they are not broken in yet. What's the difference in sound when they are broken in? So far they sound awesome and DO get loud sealed and let me tell you, these subs hit LOOOW. I don't regret sealing them at all. Another thing I immediately noticed about them is they have crazzy excursion. Way more than the JL Audio W3D4 12s and Orion P12s I used to have. Are you sure their Xmax is only 16mm lol?

Dude, these look AWESOME! Makes me want up upgrade my alternator, get some nice sized Kinetics in the rear and do a pair of the X-con 12's sealed off a Sundown 3000 watt. Man do these look good! Just don't have the $ to do that I do LOVE my dcon 12s though! -
I read some of the former posts and it said that it's bad to use the bass boost on the amp. So is it best to leave the bass boost off on the amp but ok to turn up the bass on the beck instead? I set my amp myself today, I'm pretty good with doing it by ear. These audio shops around here are either shady or stupid. One of the turned the bass boost up on my amp alot and turned the gain down lol. It didn't sound right to me, so I went to another place and he said it was bad to use the bass boost on the amp and re-adjusted it for me. I thought he was trustworthy until I was banging my system and my Icon 15 smelt funny, so I turned it off and felt the sub and it was pretty warm. I looked at the settings on my amp and the boost was off but the gain on my amp was up 80% wtf. I was in the car when he was setting it and it sounded good, but at the same time I asked if the gain was at a safe level and he said yeah. I feel like going back to the shop and snuffing him lol. Shady motherfvckers. So I turned the gain down myself and set it by ear and now this is how it's set (Below in bold). Do my settings sound about right to you? My Alpine CDA-9886: Sub level 7, Bass 4 JBL GTO 1200.1 II: Bass Boost off, crossover set at 60hz, Gain set to about 40% - 45%
-
It's ported. 3.5 cubes tuned to 34hz

Who makes a good 600 watt amp?
mwoehr replied to ABXX49's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Sundown doesn't make a 600 watt amp. I need one that does 600 at 1 ohms being the dcons are dual 4 ohms. -

Ok John, sorry. -
Which speakers to power off Alpine CDA-9886???
mwoehr replied to mwoehr's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
I got the Rockford Fosgates and I love them! -
I posted something simular to this and it didn't get enough results, so I thought I'de re-frase the topic being I didn't get enough feedback lol. So here we go again lol. A friend of mine is doing a budget system and wants some good coaxle's. He just wants a pair of 3 way 6x9s for the rear and 5 1/4s for his front doors. He has the same car as me but an 03 Corolla and just wants some speakers to power off his deck that'll be able to take a beating and doesn't care about his speakers having much bass being his box does. He just wants something durable. So far the brands we're looking at are JL Audio, Kicker, MTX, Alpine, JBL. The speakers don't have to be cheap. He just wants to power them off his deck.

That my box dude? yes sir it is Looks awesome! Can't wait to hear it!
