    what's your thoughts??

Bro... I think y'er gonna like the L1v2... Just sayin'... I agree with the comment about running the Clarus active, incidentally. That said, I suspect the same could be said for running any speaker with an active crossover if you know how to use it.

    Pro Series Speaker

Hey Bro, The L1 Pro is out, the L3 pro around April/may, L6 pro shortly after that... L4 and L8 will probably be a ways off... He takes quite a while on prototyping and r&d so... Meanwhile, he has a gig going on where if you preorder the pro series, but only pay for the same speakers in Legatia that you want in the pro series, he'll credit you the full price back if you exchange the legatias you bought for the pros when they come in... Of something like that... Shoot him an email and tell him I sent you... He can explain it better... LOL
  4. Audison is putting out a processor that may be in your price range... I've no experience with it though... the Bit One.
  5. Yes, the H900 can be used with pretty much anything. It has optical and analog inputs, so you're good to go. If I remember correctly, the H990 can only be used with it's matching head unit...
  6. My personal opinion is that the H701/C701 combo is the way to go for your first processor versus the H900. Very simple interface, easy to set up. Plenty of options for processing, plenty of input and output solutions. Better find one soon though. I understand Alpine quit making them.

Who has heard the Hybrid Audio Clarus C61-2?

I've only heard them during testing with the final prototype... they were very nice, loud but smooth... however Scott was testing them active to determine the proper crossover points for the set at the time, so unfortunately I didn't get a listen with the passive crossovers he ultimately selected.

I promise, I'll give it back Bro... ...and thanks for letting me steal it for the long trip home...
  9. Here ya go fellas... picking up where we left off on our threadjack Triple titanium reinforced heavy duty hinges you got there??? Mind telling us how you have those all wired up? And you say on 1k on each driver or per door?

Yessir, I like the 80's funk. I don't know how many different 80's CD's Steven Head made, but I just "stole" one of them from Webster at the last show in Roanoke... Very nice...

WOW! Now that's a change... Hmmm... I haven't built a SQ CRX before... I'll have to think about it. My gut tells me to go for the kicks with the mids and tweeters, and then doors for midbass... I'll PM you if I come up with something more definitive...

You got that right... "you dropped a bomb on me" by the gap band never sounded so good...

Sounds like you planned it out good then. In fact, if you are gonna go that route maybe add another pair of them Kickers to the door, wire them to 2 ohms and put the spank on 'em.

Those will work fine. But no matter where you put them, they'll hurt SQ. Now, if you want to put an on/off switch on the amp that would work nicely. Then you could turn them on and off at will. So in other words, if you were doing pure SQ, you could turn off the kickers. Then if you want to cruise around and just be loud, you could turn them on. Make any sense?

Cool. It's awesome that you're building and staying on a proper budget. I've seen a lotta guys go way in the hole with the credit card, trying to build a system they can't really afford. Great job on the patience front!
  16. x2 on M5's H701/C701 recommendation... If you go that route... you can do 2-way, 3-way... at will. If you haven't gone active before, 2-way is the way to start... the more speakers you have the harder it is to tune. In pure SQ, the KISS principle is in full effect. >> this coming from a guy that has 21 speakers in his truck... 20 of which are forward of the b-pillars...
  17. Here's a link to the owners manual for the CDA-9831: http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/support/su...elname=CDA-9831 and the CDA-9853: http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/support/su...elname=CDA-9853 I personally haven't used either one so couldn't give advice from a first-hand perspective. However, it seems to me from scanning through the owners manuals that the 9853 is a bit more flexible in the EQ department. I would recommend taking a read through both manuals and compare and contrast the features that are most important to you. My son tells me he didn't like the glide-touch... that's the only negative I've heard Hope that helped a little...

North of 400 = awesome! You mounted them in the doors, yeah? That oughtta shake some stuff loose... LOL edit - I like that crossover point you use... the sub rolls off right into the L8... nice.

right on Bro... did you play with some of the console switches? I meant to tell you it was ok, in fact I was hoping you'd take test listens in different configurations, just so you could see the SQ differences between pure SQ, "street SQ" and full-tilt funk. If not, remind me to show you how they work next time we meet up and we'll get after it good! You too Jim... I owe both of you a proper demo

LOL... Bro, I was having some serious flashbacks there. Mad props to Webster for the sweet funk mix! I was telling Edwards today that I wish I had more time to demo the rig for everyone... but... I didn't get much of a break the whole day. It seemed like I was either pulling into the lane, or prepping the rig to pull into the lane... Made the day go by fast, that's for sure! I just hated it for you guys that didn't get the royal treatment I normally try to give... Heh, my ears were so friggin' shot by the end of the day that nothing sounded right so I didn't listen to any music the entire way home... eight and a half hours of nice, soothing... road noise. LOL

LOL... yeah, and go bankrupt in the process... and have the wife divorce me... not good! Tell you what, having them in that location really accentuated the bass response versus the door location I used last year. Profound difference. Have you listened to them with no high-pass yet? Granted, with no high-pass you can't put the wood to them with contemporary pop or rap like you would a dedicated sub, but at moderate volume... amazing. I was playing with the tune today at lunch and turned off all the subs, door speakers... everything but the front stage with the L8's going all the way to the bottom. Put in some nice SQ music... fell asleep right in the middle of tuning, darn near killed the batteries, got back late from lunch, got the evil look from the boss... It was soooo worth it though :-)

It was late... dark... raining... I may have like, accidentally slipped and fell with a 6-inch hole saw back there somewhere... But I'm not tellin'!! Sweet! LOL Hmmm... you know though, I still might be able to find room in them back doors somehow...

Here you go Bro. Much better now. Way more natural sounding I love L8's! Heck, now I'm up to... 12? LOL

Ok James... I coudn't stand it anymore... 10IB4's are out now... I'm building new baffles for the L8's... They'll be in this evening. The 10IB4s will be in their new home tomorrow night (hopefully, it all depends on how much fabrication it takes).
