    port placement

thanks for the help, with all the options it makes it hard to know myth from fact. as a for instance, I had read somewhere that a port and sub on the same face of the box will have a coupling effect that would add extra dbs compared to an enclosure with ports and subs on different panels. my question came about because I have seen many different styles of enclosures with ports and subs being separated from each other and wondered if it really does make a difference on placement.

    port placement

hello all, newbie here with a question. Iam getting ready to build a ported enclosure and before I do I would like to know if there is a perferred placement for the port. is there an advantage to being on the same face as the subs or does it matter where they are placed? thanks in advance for your help

    port placement

the box will be 2-12's in a trailblazer and my buddy would like the box to be against the rear seat , subs facing the tailgate. I had heard that with the subs facing upward in this type of application there would be some destructive interference. also I guess that I heard wrong when the subs are on the same plane as the port there is a mutual coupling of the front and rear waves giving an increase in dbs. Its so hard sometimes to know fact from fiction and what a pain in the wallet to build trial and error boxes
