    Health Update

thanx... I'll be finishing up a few loose ends like the door pods for the Dakota and a couple refunds then I will be stripping the Windstar for proper sound deadening and re doing my sub stage .... still sticking with SSA subs but I'm leaning towards six or eight Icon 10" to run off the Crown A3000gti....... will be back soon with more pics of the Dakota build
  5. unfortunately I have a kidney issue that requiers some time for treatment and recovery so I am forced to temporarily shut down production..... I will be completing the door skins for the Dakota and the Xcon Enclosure for Mark as my health allows but there will be no new orders taken till at least fall ..the other two builds in line will be refunded SSA products as well as Diamond Audio , Cerwin Vega , Tsunami , Exile and Zenesis are still available to Canadian customers

    Temporary Production Shutdown

I'm hoping for a fast recovery I will no longer be shipping enclosures out of Canada to the US when I return... with the Canadian material prices , high shipping prices and high living expenses as well as trying to compete with the US Builders prices it is no longer financially worth it for my family to continue so I am throwing in the towel.......

    Tuning box below manufacture's Fs

one of the main mistakes I see when people use enclosure software is a mistake with the metric/imperial conversion but there are a few subs I have come across that model like $hit on the graph regardless....not all the free on line software will give the same results either (reason why I avoid free on line programs like herpies)...a small number of them are close but close isn't good enough IMO to many get to technical when discussing this topic to the point that it becomes a useless thread that noobies can not understand I will never tune any lower than 3hz below the manufacturers speced FS.....under high abuse situations tuning lower will result in a short woofer life by over exerting the woofers mechanical limits ..if you want to tune really low choose a woofer with a low FS and it's all good
  12. For the great majority of users of an in car setup the D/A difference will be non-existent. The real question is will you benefit from independent L/R eq? Your mounting locations will help determine the answer to that question. it all depends on the quality of the components and power.... with a decent setup the sound difference is noticable on the first note as far as the L/R eq........it's more of a pain in the arse than anything to most users
  13. this one was shooting forward in a trunk car with the seats folded down so I only had a chunk of carpet covering the front it's still in perfect shape..never contaminated by the elements so it's carpet-able ...the SSA 10" subs do not fit in the mounting holes....the JBL's are slightly smaller in diameter

not hitting the lows quit like I want

I would loose my interest in car audio completely if my SSF was stuck 3hz below my tuning frequency...LOL to the origional poster...sounds like the enclosure is at fault or the subs just have not had a chance to loosen up I have installed Dcons and they get right down and dirty with the low stuff
  15. just a warning to those US people....shipping to the USA is costly...... it would be easily up towards the $200 range
  16. if you listen to mostly MP3 the Alpine would do fine.... but if you listen to alot of store bought CD's the PRS has 24 bitt burr brown D/A's....much more detailed
  17. the origional skins...mids mounted free air directly to the door
  18. time for the door pods.... three pairs of Diamond Audio HEX series 5.25" components with silk tweeters ..three mids and two tweets in each door along with three X-Overs and one tweet in each pillar

    Kerfing.

something I wish I would have never showed pics of
  20. another VS thread.......... I would take the Xcon for SQ but I think I would probably throw the Orion HCCA in the pile also... what a rediculous sub.....I was burping a single 12" with XXX 6500 last comp season...we got a solid 147db on the dash doors sealed in a chevy Xcab and I could NOT blow that sub even with my Crown Agti amp reliable...reconable with an allen key (if you blow one you'v really screwed up) and it sounded not to bad either

    Xcon VS. DC LVL 4XL

personally I would go with a 12" in that trunk......you still need room for the woofer and enclosure to unloadproerly
  24. for a 12" Xcon 2.25cf3 tuned at 30hz
