    They'r Back !!

    funky-pup/ does anyone remember these.....LOL
  4. wow...... this is a retarded thread it depends on the vehicle , amount of room for the enclosure and is there room for the enclosure to unload properly....how much power ???? realistically I can make a pair of 10" woofers destroy a couple of 12" or a 15" in the right environment for DIGGING low notes.... you would easily hear them hammering and rumbling from a few blocks away....and sound good doing it not enough info in this thread to give an answer just remember if you do not have the room to do it right trying to go big will cost you performance but if it was my choice I would try and make two 12" work...(if there was enough room)

    Health Update

I got a few PM's from people asking how I am doing since I came back doing fine now , I have 5 stints between the right kidney and the ureter and I have gained 50 pounds...back up over a healthy 200 it's actually weird to not feel sick anymore....I'm digging it just waiting for the weather to warm up a bit and I'll be starting back up with some projects for locals on my evenings and weekends just so everyone knows I have no interest in selling designs but I may ship an enclosure or two IF the customer takes care of all the shipping BS from their end...later in the year after I complete the local stuff I have lined up
  6. I am trying to decide what to run on my front stage and I have been curious about these http://www.hertzaudiovideo.com/schedaProdotto_en.asp?id=2&idcat=31&idprod=98&numid=1&numcat=2&numprod=4 has anyone here run these yet or have any experience with the Mille 's ??? I have been looking at this set for my front stage and wanted to see if people who got them in their installs are happy with their performance for the $$$$...comments good or bad

    Hertz Mille Components ??

never to many drivers....one set of tweeters , one set of mids and double mid bass on the front stage is similar to what I had in my last system ....it sounded awsome nothing going in the back seat..... there will be a tweeter and a 4.5" mid for each rear shock tower so the rear seats have some top end and for when the hatch is open the subs are going in the rear corners ...the ports will take up a lot of room to achieve my port velocity target ...this has to be done with out getting in the way of the floor panel folding up for axcess to the amps, battery and spare tire not to mention I have to figure out where to put the bit one and extra battery

    Hertz Mille Components ??

it should sound really tight those tweeters sound un like anything available for car audio ..the same titanium tweeters used in the high end night club and studio stuff both the mids and mid bass are XBL*

    Hertz Mille Components ??

research is all done going with the JBL Pro 1" pure titanium tweeters...they are raw replacement elements so I have to get mounting plates machined 4 of them...2 up front and two in the back 190w rms per side these for mid range http://www.creativesound.ca/details.php?model=VWR126X 4 of these ....2 up front and 2 in the back 190w rms per side these for mid basshttp://www.diysoundgroup.com/anarchy-woofer/anarchy.html 4 of them....2 in each door 280w rms per side I am not putting mid bass in the rear...the doors will produce enough and I need the room in the back to run the ports ( the build log will explain)
  10. Thumpper

    the over-RMS fetish

I was educated by a guy once...he explained to me how the input sensitivity gain works if the amplifier is rated at 100w rms you have to crank the gain to achieve this and if you turn the gain down to half your output is 50 w rms.......and so on..... and if a sub is rated 100w peak it will take that 100w rms I told the guy he was very knowledgable and he should do this shit professionally ......he thought I was serious....LOL

    Hertz Mille Components ??

there is a certain point on the door that I want to stay below and I want to push the midbass as forward as possible and the dash is in the way of an 8" fitting

    Hertz Mille Components ??

I think two of these in each door will work nicely....LOTS of excursion for a 6.5" woofer and a FS of 40.....and the XBL design has really tight sound http://gr-research.com/m165xwoofer.aspx

found some GR Research M165X woofer with XBL2 motor....X Max = 7.8mm one way

    Hertz Mille Components ??

If you are restricting yourself to dual 6.5" mids, and given your desire for high output, I think the Exodus Anarchy's would be worth a look. They are pretty easy to find used and while I don't think Exodus is selling them anymore someone else has resurrected them.Any reason you wouldn't want to go with a single 8 per side? it's just personal preference.....I like having multiple smaller mid bass looking for something with high x max that can handle 50hz to 250hz preferably 8ohm

    Hertz Mille Components ??

the Titanium domes are $89 each plus shipping I also found a 3" silk dome midrange transducers or the 4" DLS Scandinavia series mids now all I got to do is decide on the mid bass.... going with two 6.5" in each door so 8ohm will work...keep the channels at 4ohm on each side

found a supplier with JBL Pro 1" pure Titanium Domes...........going 3 way active on the front stage
  17. Thumpper

    Hertz Mille Components ??

well that sucks.....I love the old JBL Diamond stamped titanium domes I found a few pairs of the 8ohm home audio plate style but no 4ohm car style yet just a thought... if I go active I'm gonna need more amplifiers... my wife is gonna hate me....LOL

    Hertz Mille Components ??

I just spent the last couple hours searching e bay for seperates... found a few interesting mids and mid bass but nothing tweeter wise that interests me for a decent price looking for something like the old school 1" Pure Titanium Domes ...the Focal Berylium tweeters are nice but so is the $1500 price tag...OUCH

    Hertz Mille Components ??

I have walked into a couple component sets that are comparable to much cheeper priced ones already that's why I am taking my time with this purchase...if all fails I might have to get a couple more sets of 660gti's...cause so far I have not come across anything more impressive as of yet I can by amp those 660 x overs with a Bit 1 and I know I would be happy

Opinions on Rockford p3 compared to sundown SA

when Rockford Fosgate sent me a batch of the new subs ( a pair of 12" P3 , a pair of 12" T2 's and a 12" P3 shallow ) anyways I blew a T2 in a common chamber ( JBL/Crown BPX 2200.1 amp) so they sent me a replacement and blew another one a few days later so I built a common chamber for the pair of P3's I BEET the crap out of those things for 6 months...got all sorts of weird smells from the voice coil but they just kept going... hooked them up to the Crown A3000gti and they took it for over a month ... those P3's can take ALOT of clean power and they hit really decent

I will most likely run a processor with this set up ,I have been looking at a few, some of those new digital processors are really flexible but a signal processor can do many things to affect the sound but it cannot do everything because the signal processor does not produce the sound directly. That task falls to the speakers. Even the most capable signal processor can only deliver the best sound the speakers can create, and low-end speakers are generally unable to take full advantage of the perfectly balanced clean signal provided by a high-end signal processor. This is why I like speakers to be capable of producing clean enough sound to take full advantage of it. I can not find much of any review on these things anywhere on line.....too new I guess but from what most of the stuff I can find on some of their other stuff looks good Scan Revelator ??......I'll check it out

True ... Geez this is soo true !!! I see this all the time.....some people will rather skimp on components and save $500 but then they turn around and spend that saved $500 on processing to end up with a final result that is lacking LOL. Using active filters and processing allows one to use drivers that excel in a specific installation and adjust/compensate for environmental effects. You can literally tailor the entire setup for the best sound in a given installation. I don't consider that skimping. Though I admit they require a lot more time to setup. I have nothing against component sets either, but the ones I've heard with exorbitant price tags weren't inherently better then the well planned active setups I've heard. true.... I have run active in the past and tried all kinds of midbass ,mids and tweet combinations , they sounded really good to me until I sat in a car with some ridiculously high priced components not saying all high priced components worth it but there are a few set ups I have heard and owned that just sound awesome and at the same time I have owned a couple that were not for example the CDT Eurosport set up I had REALLY sucked ...biggest waste of money I have ever seen in one of my systems... almost $1800 for that set up back then http://www.showyoursound.nl/Editorials/Editorial.asp?EditorialID=161

nice to know...the install would have to work in favour of being on axis that is why I liked the 660gti tweeters...those wave guides really widened the listening window
