No need to risk it for daily usage. Just match the amp's stability.

Hot chocolate is so good.

Man there are some crazies on the internet. After four emails this girl says we will be so happy together, her whole heart is just for me, she yearns to be with me every day and thinks about me constantly, etc. I've told her like 4 things about me. Now she wants me to pick her up from the airport (she lives in same town as me but is on a trip. Supposedly). Hmm, pass. Psycho. Hopefully she doesn't burn my house down with me in it when I tell her it's not working out. At least she says she wants to fulfill my every emotional, mental, and sexual need. Maybe I can meet her at a hotel and then ditch.

I forgot if I told this story in here yet or not, but on Friday when I was walking into work from the parking lot about a block away a guy walking the other direction stops in front of me, looks behind me, and looks quizzically at me and asks if the food market is over there in the parking lot this morning. me: No, i didn't see one. him: hmm, is this Saturday? Me: um, no, it's Friday. him: Well why was I thinking it was Saturday? me (thinking): because you're crazy? Out loud: I don't know, but I wish it were because I wouldn't be coming into work right now. Then he started walking back in the direction he came, which of course was my way to work. So we had to have small talk about the weather. I think he lives in this apartment building across the street from my work that houses mostly elderly and handicapped (both physically and mentally, but not necessarily in the same person). He didn't seem too crazy other than the wrong day bit, but surely he had to realize it couldn't be Saturday when he walked past my office building and saw all the people walking in and general traffic.

They should easily make the playoffs. They have 4 virtually guaranteed Ws, and if the G-men keep slipping, they shouldn't have a problem there either. Surprising season for sure. You mean wins from the chiefs and raiders? ha, yeah definitely. The division sucks. I mean last year the Chargers won it with an 8-8 record.

That 6 ohm on the IA website is the Re of the coils in series, aka the DC resistance. Not the nominal load, which is 8 ohm in series. The Re of the sub will always be slightly less than the nominal load, which is actually how we can tell this is a 4 ohm DVC driver. As for the enclosure section on there, must just be a typo. As for power, plan for 300 RMS as the manufacturer recommends. You can always get something like a 1000 watt amp and just have some headroom, nothing wrong with that. They may take more than RMS, just don't expect them too. The box you put them in may limit their power handling mechanically, so have to take that into consideration as well.

Plus he drives a pt cruiser. So there may be a lot he's not clued in on.

I measured it out, and mounting depth wise, I could fit it What's your question then? If you measured it and it will fit, build the box! You just need about 11" in total depth for it to fit. 6.5" for the mounting depth, about 1.5" behind the sub for the pole vent, 3/4" for the wood on the backside, and 2-2.5" in front of the baffle for the sub mounting flange and excursion.

Lost our basketball game 118-43 tonight. Ouch. We're definitely in too high of a league.

Well if kicking the shit out of them means beating them by 4 points, they sure did.

Time to go trout fishing. Got quite a late start since I slept in a lot longer than I expected (about 11 hours last night). But hey, apparently I needed the sleep.

Big voltage problem

I was going to suggest the same. Maybe the oscope was just off. -
Maybe you mean #1, Jake Sharp. He's a little running back. Was running up the sideline and tried to do a little juke back to the inside but got caught squarely while in the air just a touch and got sent reeling. Banged his head on the turf a little and got up all woozy. As for the QB, it's Todd Reesing. He's not really any worse than he has been the last couple years when he's been pretty amazing. It's just that the offensive line has taken quite a bit step backwards. They can't run the ball like they have been able to in the past, mainly due to bad O-line, which means teams can drop 8 into coverage easily. Then they still pressure Reesing even with only a 3 or 4 man rush.

I didn't mean louder, i meant deeper and lower. Would big sealed boxes play lower than smaller ported boxes tuned low? Ported boxes are generally louder above 25 hz if you tune reasonably, while sealed can handle those lower notes better because they don't unload. However, very little music actually has any notes below 25 hz. Hence my comment that 98% of music will be louder in a ported box. If you're going to be listening to big pipe organ music, maybe you would like sealed. Otherwise, you'll probably want ported.

Dang the KU football team has completely fallen off the wagon.

For 98% of the music you'll likely listen to, a ported box will be louder.

If the sub doesn't have a vented pole piece it doesn't matter. You can basically have the motor right up against the back wall of the enclosure. But if it has a vented pole it's best to leave a couple inches behind the sub. That vented pole needs to be able to expend air easily, otherwise it creates back pressure inside the motor and forces the air out somewhere else that it wasn't necessarily designed to go, which may cause noise.

Got paid yesterday and bill paying day today took it all plus 20 bucks. Darn.

Well if you just do a google search for plexiglass glue or something you'll come up with a bunch of hits. I'm just not sure which one is the best. Well a bit more searching found Weld On. http://www.eplastics.com/Plastic/Plexiglass_Glue. Maybe #40 would be good if you know what you're doing.

WTF is a reputation point? Well whatever we call them. the little +/- you can give people's posts in the lower right hand corner.

Are you serious. The tinsel lead closes the circuit from the voice coil to the DMM. Without it you have an open circuit. Scott, have you hooked the DMM up to the other voice coil that didn't have the broken tinsel? What did it read?
-
That's the only way I could do it.

You're using a CVT in there, right? So I have a question, though not about atv's but cars in general. Why are CVTs not used more? It seems only a handful of cars have employed them, yet wouldn't they be particularly beneficial now in this time of huge interest in fuel mileage and emissions? Or is this just one of those things that's slow to catch on due to people's ingrained perception of how things are supposed to be? Though they have been used in cars for over 15 years.

I should click this post just for the fun of it to mess it up. But no need to. haha. Maybe I just won't be too helpful for a while. Haha

I don't know, how many times are you going to keep repeating this incorrectly? I am interested to hear your technical explanation of how the voice coil will "break down over time and kill the sub." I bet you would also say to never run only one voice coil of a DVC sub, too, right? You say that the signal to the voice coils does not add together when wiring one channel to each voice coil, but what does bridging an amplifier do? Hint- It.............adds the left and right signals together!
