I have that intuition. Haha. But really, what I want to know is, who the F takes a picture like this, and who is that dude that allows/wants it to happen?

Field work yesterday was very disappointing. I wanted to leave town at like 6:30 so that we wouldn't waste so much daylight during the 3+ hour drive to the site, but the guy I went with didn't want to leave until 7:30. But of course that means we don't actually leave till 8. so anyways we get to the site and the probe won't turn on from the back. it has a key to turn on the truck's engine back there but no power is getting to it. Shit. We're out in the middle of a pasture, 20 minutes from anywhere. After a bit of troubleshooting we figure it's an electrical problem, and after tracing the electrical system up the truck and finally under the hood without finding the problem, we come to a 150A circuit breaker that runs the whole thing. We get a test light and test the terminals on the breaker, nothing. That's weird. Then I'm like hey wait a minute, there is only one wire going to this circuit breaker. Obviously needs to be at least two. Come to find out the wire from the battery broke off at the ring terminal. The ring is still under the nut on the breaker, but it's like the connector got fatigued between the crimp and ring and just broke off. How that happened under the hood of a truck on a stationary circuit breaker is anybody's guess. Anyways it takes like 2 hours to fix that since we had to drive so far to get a dumb ring terminal from a hardware store. Then we get back out, work for an hour, and it starts raining and lightning. Well with a 10-15 foot probe mast sticking in the air during normal operation, obviously can't work in lightning. So we're shut down for the night. We got about 1/3 done what I had planned. So frustrating. Luckily today we had beautiful weather and we just cranked the shit out like a well-oiled speed demon machine. I originally wanted it to only be a one-day trip and if we hadn't had the dumb break down and left when I wanted it would have been, even with the lightning. Only took us 3 hours to finish this morning.

Off work tomorrow for the paid holiday, wahoo. Though I'm not really sure what I'll do with myself. Kinda weird to have a day off in the middle of the week.

Maybe I should stop quoting so that dude stops showing up on more pages. Haha.

apparently you don't get the joke.

? Derek let all his secret photos out of the SIN vault I see. Haha. I'm fairly certain he has that one, though I just did a google search to find that one for now.

Amp stopped working..
KU40 replied to dueces11's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
If it can be fixed cheaply depends on how much they'll charge you to send it in and get it refurbished. Chances are you may as well just buy a new one, only this time something better quality and that can handle the 1 ohm load you want to throw at it. Undoubtedly caused by too low of an impedance and a crappy amp that has even crappier overload protection circuitry. -
Unfortunately at work we use Internet Explorer and the built-in search feature uses Bing. I keep using it because I'm used to being at home and using Firefox, which has google as the search. There have been numerous times when I've used the Bing search, not found anything, then going to google and finding what I need. And the layout is much more user-friendly.

BTL would be a much better choice. That sub fits your goals 100% better than the SSD. Or even two BLs.

amp turns on, but will go into protect mode
KU40 replied to c0rrupted0ne's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Try setting your DMM to measure resistance and hooking it up to the voice coil(s) of the sub. If that's normal, try swapping out the amp for another one. Your amp may have gone poof. -
Go away bing. You suck.

Friggin of course it has to be 70 degrees and sunny for the last week, and will be for the whole next week, except tomorrow when I'll be working outside all day. 50 and rainy. I've been stuck in my office for all of this nice weather lately, and finally I get out and it's in crappy weather. But at least it won't be too cold, and at least I get outside. And we would most likely be able to get all the work done in one day but because of this stupid time change we waste an extra hour of daylight driving in the morning. So we'll most likely have to stay the night. Though it is in my hometown so I'll get to stay with moms while the guy I'm going with shacks up in a hotel.

Isn't the hop supposed to be a place for random shit? That isn't in any real order? Taking this a little serious aren't you? It is for random shit. Just not stupid bickering shit.

Nothing will happen. The galactic alignment that's going to occur happens every 26,000 years. Meaning the earth has already experienced nearly 177,000 of them and has yet to be destroyed.

Doh I forgot about the time change. Although east coast is only one hour ahead of central time so I'm not really sure where that's coming from. Maybe your settings didn't "fall back" when the time changed last weekend?

Ha, Nick. But it really said I was still in here at 1:43 this morning? I left the site right after my last post at what, 11:30. Weird.

Just wire it at 1 ohm and turn the gain down if you don't want full output from the amp, to the point where the alternator doesn't stress. No need to make it any harder than it has to be.
-
You have to use both sets of terminals (one for each voice coil), but whether you wire one + to the other + and then to the amp, or whether you wire each + to the amp, etc., it doesn't matter. As long as they're all connected. Parallel wiring is not like series wiring where you have to do things in order. Parallel wiring is very easy.

Looking for a new setup
KU40 replied to Eric Steagall's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
That doesn't answer the question. If we knew what box they're in maybe we could decipher why you don't like the sound so we know what to suggest for the BTL.
