All shit is right. 150 years is a joke. There was a glacier in Kansas 400,000 years ago, which is only 1/10,000th of the earth's age ago. That is basically like one day in my whole life of 25 years. Most humans just can't deal with the fact that they can't control something, e.g.- the earth. Control freaks, the lot of them. For me personally, i just wonder how big of an impact we are having on the earth's cycles I think our damage is just cosmetic, like urban sprawl ruining scenery and garbage piling up. Though we'll really need to do something about our agricultural practices before long. Watched a show the other day and China is having problems with ground water mining like we are. I think if humans are going to have a prosperous life after about 50 years from now we're going to have to perfect desalination and make it very economical. I can't see any way for humans to altar the earth in any fashion even remotely permanent. I mean volcanoes are some of the most destructive yet awesome things on the planet, yet even their ash clouds that can cover nearly the ENTIRE PLANET and drop the global temperatures several degrees in a literal instant fade away after a couple of years and the earth is back to normal. I mean when you hear the narrators on those shows say that like the Mt. St. Helens eruption was equal to like 4 million tons of TNT or 10,000 Hiroshima bombs, come on. Humans haven't even come close to replicating that kind of power and short term change. Same with El Nino cycles, sun cycles, etc. Not even to mention how continental drift and the positioning of continents and land masses affects weather and landscapes everywhere.

I've thought for a long time that batteries need a big leap forward before anything substantial will come of it.

SiN exploding wtf is SiN? Soundillusions.net. Also Carstereos.org (CSO), they had to change the name. But now it's back to Sin

I drove through NY like two days after Christmas last year. F that, traffic was ridiculous. I felt claustrophobic from that, and I don't get claustrophobic.

Actually as I stated in the other thread, I flat out HATE driving without one and use one 100% of the time. The detector helps me be more attentive which does make me a better driver. All other logic aside it is most definitely the case. Common sense rant: Let's make it fucking illegal to drive in the passing lane if you aren't passing and at the same time make it illegal to pass in the right lane. Dipshits driving slow in the left lane cause more of a mess than even a dipshit with a detector driving too fast. That is a law in Kansas, at least last I heard they were talking about it. You have to get back into the right lane within like 100 feet of passing somebody. I don't go over 5mph over the speed limit and about 95% of the time I'm within 2 mph of it. I don't need a radar detector and I will never get a ticket. The peace of mind knowing that makes me much more stress-free.

It's not true at all. When your head unit volume is at 5, how much power is going to the subs even with a 5,000 watt amp? Maybe 50 watts? Are they being underpowered and harmed then?

System tuning advice required.
KU40 replied to b34tBoX's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
First you have to figure out why the speakers are distorting. My bets are it's either the head unit amplifier clipping or the speakers bottoming out because they don't have a highpass crossover on them. If it's the head unit clipping, there's nothing you can do about it other than get an external amplifier for the rears or else set the gains for your front and sub amps to put out their desired power with the head unit volume lower by turning up the gain. If it's bass that's distorting them, you can get some simple bass blockers to help that out. -
Yes, quite a few of us geologists have. The last glacial advancement ended only 10,000 years ago. Technically the earth has been warming since then on a macro scale.

Nope. But the hop is slow to maneuver between pages for some reason. Only thread as I can remember. Weird.

get ready for a few days of hell I was out for 5 days. 10 hours of sleep each day. I usually only need ~6. My wife was hit so bad it agrivated an injury and she was asked to do an MRI. My wife doesn't do MRI's. I've never seen her have a fear based attack berfore, I felt helpless. I can deal with being sick, I can't deal with being helpless. And if I give it to my son I will fucking want to kill something I hope so too. Kids are actually dealing with h1n1 better than the regular flu I hear. Either way if you had the normal flu or otherwise i hope he doesn't get it too. Speaking of, whatever happened to that? I haven't heard anything about the swine flu in like a month. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

global warming yo! Same as that snow storm in mexico my buddy told me he say a few years ago. Considering global warming is actually cooling it makes sense. Just bass ackwards political nonsense that has it flipped My dad told me he heard/read something about some hackers that hacked into some big global warming database in England and found out that the global warming movement is a farce. Scientists in the big research study are just reporting what the politicals/money inputs are telling them to, which is that the globe is warming, and are ignoring or not reporting most of the data which proves otherwise. But I have no link to this story.

WTF, we haven't even had snow in Kansas yet.

Its just really more work also. You can have a shared chamber and it will work fine. x2, I never tried to test the difference if having a seperate chamber for each sub would be better than them sharing the same chamber. One member on here said that he did have better results with doing the shared chambered over the seperate ones. You dont have to follow their designs if you dont want, Im sure someone can help you with design if you give us your max dimensions of space you have to work with. Ive only heard that it adds strength to the box when you are using high powered drivers. Less flex or movement in the box, the better. Ive had drivers in both and couldnt really tell a difference. And I don't think you ever will hear a difference between shared and split chamber. But the bracing benefit idea of the split chambered box is valid. Though you can also get just as good of bracing results with other bracing methods in a common chamber. But it's all your decision.

It's a bit tricky to figure out exactly where the crossover will start sloping the response down in order to get to -3db at the crossover. A safe bet would be to just go another octave up, i.e. 7khz.

Frying alternator...overload or not
KU40 replied to Hanapi's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
In addition to the too-large pulley not allowing the alt to speed at the rate it needs to, you were at idle. At idle, high output alternators actually put out less amperage than stock alts a lot of the time. High output alternators are meant to have the RPMs up in order to get the amperage they are rated for, while stock alternators are made to run at idle more often. chances are you were probably getting only something like 100 amps out of your alternator at idle at the airport. That's not going to fly trying to charge that many batteries with a 5,000 watt draw from the amps. It was simply overloaded trying to keep up with demand. -
Hooray Friday! But crap it's even colder this morning. 13*.
-
Go out and look at the amp and tell us the settings. It is important. Is the sub firing forward or backward in your trunk?

Are both the mid and tweet going to be in the door? Would you have room or make the possible modifications and have enough know-how with active setups to do a 3-way component set?

I used to use em back in high school when I had to hide bloodshot eyes. They are a little intense at first, but afterwards its so refreshing. There's some silver one, AVOID THOSE! Burn like no ones business. But for allergies, I have some stuff called Napicon A. A little more expensive than Rohto, but they help out a lot with my allergies as far as itchy eyes and stuff. Does the taste hide well in drinks? Let me guess, you're going to pull a Wedding Crashers on the hot chick's bf? Haha

Mechanical Failure, what is it? Please explain
KU40 replied to Typicaljawaiian's topic in Advanced Discussion
That's pretty much it. One of the soft parts or something on the former breaks. -
I can't even remember the last time I took pain meds. Probably some ibuprofen when i tore my calf muscle about 4 years ago.

http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=279-179 ??Maybe?? Way too spendy. And these are better. http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=275-030 FWIW, I have Peerless silks (forget the model number) in my surrounds at home and I like them better than the Dayton Classics that I have up front in my LCR channels. But then again I have not listened to either driver in question. I like Dayton products as well, don't get me wrong. Different price bracket. The HDS tweet is probably my favorite "budget" tweeter, but in the range of price that Mike is looking at the ND is really a great buy. Well, you are probably right. I think my Peerless tweets were like 30 apiece about 5 years ago.

The new RE XXX subs are lowend monsters.

Right. Driver does not affect port dimensions. The only things that affect port length are net box volume, port area, and tuning frequency. Notice here what the inputs are: http://mobile.jlaudio.com/support_pages.php?page_id=165 Whenever I'm using winISD and just want a port length I just choose the default driver, which I think is A/D/S something or other, for quickness's sake. Doesn't matter what driver you use.
