    Subwoofer choice?

Well it is to me. My box is tuned to 30 hz. Bass mekanik has some stuff that dips into the 20s (or lower) so I'd want to protect the sub as much as possible.

    Welcome to the IHoP

For the last few days Firefox won't hold my cookies after I exit. I always have to sign in on here, put in my full email address at hotmail even though the "save my email address" box is checked, etc. But my cookies settings are set to normal/save. wtf.

So you like the meaty girls, eh?

    Subwoofer choice?

If you listen to a lot of bass tests you NEED a 24 db/octave subsonic filter for your subs since you're tuning somewhat high. Otherwise your subs will be torn up in no time.

Pics of the gf are ok too.
  6. Why can you not make a mounting bracket? All you need is like some 1/2" wood and a jig saw to convert that space into a 6.5" hole. I did it on my dad's F-150 and on my Explorer, which both have the same stock mounting holes. At any rate, if you can't do that, the infinity speakers are decent. I had some of the reference 6.5" coaxials a few years ago and they were ok, you just couldn't push them really hard or else the tweeter would get harsh silk sound. You also NEED a highpass crossover for the mid, as it can bottom out fairly easily. But for 60 bucks or whatever I bought them for, they sounded pretty good overall. Are these going to be powered by an amp or just the head unit? Does your head unit have crossovers in it?

Aaaaaaaand somebody else doesn't know how to find the volume of a port. Really. Is this you being lazy in school or you being lazy in school?

    Sundown SAE-1200D v.2 Pre-Sale OPEN

I think the fedex man delivered mine to the apartment leasing office yesterday. Only problem is the office is only open 8-5 and I work 7-5. Of course the one day I have off, today, the office is closed. Not sure when I'll be able to get my amp. Oh well, it'll be too cold this week to put it in anyways.
  11. Is neither of them an option? In either of the cases? Instead of 5x7s, can you make a mounting bracket to fit 6.5s?

    Happy 31st to Ryan!

  14. The fuses are to protect the wire, not the amp. So as long as the fuse under the hood is at or less than the current carrying capacity of the wire, it's fine. As for the D block, the electricity will roughly go down each wire to the amp equally regardless of the fuse rating. However, with the 30 amp rating under half of the amplifier rating, it's very possible that that fuse will blow. Then all the current will be going down the wire with the 40 amp fuse, and that will blow also. But it won't harm your amplifier.

Good evening . I am only on for 10 minutes in the morning while I eat my cereal before work, so I'm in and out.
  16. No real reason to switch amps since you already have the AQ. But if it breaks, then you can buy the Sundown.
  17. Wow, if you got a working amp in exchange for some worthless 6x9 boxes you made out like a bandit. If you're running that amp hard it may pull about 25 amps from your car.

The only x-over's I've seen on stock sound systems are capacitors on the tweeter. The mid is playing full-range. I would figure as much. But good to know since my mom's Durango has a blown speaker or two as well that she wants me to replace at some point.

Moving closer to me. Has the cruise terminal opened up any more jobs? I would be moving farther south to the DC area. As for the Cruises down town from Baltimore, I have no idea. My GF is from the DC area. She says all the guys are aholes.
  20. This is why youtube videos arent good, because people will see it and you already know what that means that they will believe what they see (speaking in general so OP dont think it is directed at you). Under the right conditions, box, amplifier settings, head unit settings and volume knob control, etc. all play a roll in how much you can throw at a subwoofer. You also have to understand how long you can play it for, under what conditions and be able to see/hear/smell signs of stress on the woofer. But you dont have to run rated power or double the rated power to make the sub do what it is intended to do and perform the way it was intended to perform. he was running around 2200 watts to that sub Did he put a clamp meter on the amp?

    Looking for some Punch

If you want better punch, you need a midbass. However, I'd wait until after you correct the crossover settings on the sub and install the new components, as those may give you the better results. If not, what you might want to look into doing is an 8" midbass (not subwoofer) in the front door if you can find the room. If you get to that point we can help you with what you'll need to do that.

    Welcome to the IHoP

I have. Though I did not do it myself. Let's see if I can find a receipt here. I did them at different times. For one side it was 115.30 parts and 75 labor. $75 means it can't be too bad. Probably an hour. Good luck Ryan. I'm replacing, uppers, lowers, all steering components and may have to do the hubs as well, so I've got more than an hours worth of work. Add to that, the lack of a heated garage, and the fun goes on. If you have a creak/thump up there, check the sway bar bushings. The only reason I replaced one of the upper ball joints was because a shop told me that's what it was. After that didn't fix it I told them to check the sway bar. Sure enough, a $20 fix was the problem. But since you're replacing all of that I imagine you aren't looking for just one problem solver.

Do you know what brand they are and do you like them? Sorry it's been a while, I hadn't been on here in a week. I had to go back and search the pages in case you replied to this. But I do not know the brand. Nor am I perceptive enough with these things to notice a difference. Not much help from me, sorry.

    Welcome to the IHoP

My now (ex) girlfriend's dad had a 120" screen and Martin Logans all around...Movies over there were pure sex. ML's are nifty. I have only heard 2 chan. Almost as good as Maggies. I <3 Maggies. I couldn't deal with how directional the ML's I auditioned were. You have to be right on axis for the potential to really shine and the the sweet spot felt SO small. STanding vs. sitting threw it off for me even. Just wouldn't work in my set up. Those are made here in Lawrence. In fact this session I will be playing basketball against the Martin Logan city league team.

    Welcome to the IHoP

I haven't read the hop in a week. I don't think I have the time to go back on what I missed, so if there's anything pertinent, post it again . I got a Traeger junior for christmas. I figure at least a couple of you on here could tell me what you think of them. I have done a little research on reviews and things since I got it but not much.
