    Welcome to the IHoP

what I have heard is many problems with the samsungs. I've seen some Samsungs in for service. The worst I see is LG. WE have had dozens upon Dozens of LG in for service. Along with all brands of DLP TVs. Garbage if you ask me. Well that stinks. I just bought an LG LCD 6 months ago.

and that's the real point. The Fed shouldn't be involved in that decision. But where is the line drawn? I mean kids who take shrooms know it will trip them out and are willing to take the risk that they'll do something stupid on them. Should we legalize that? I see where you're coming from, but mushrooms and roids have nothing in common besides the fact that they are both illegal. Shrooms will fuck your head for a period of hours with no gain, medically or personally, but that could be argued. On the other hand, steroids isn't something that changed a person psycologically like mushrooms will. And roids can have medical benefits, personal benefits can be argued. You take too many mushrooms, you fuck your head. I am sure too much of anything isn't good for the body, but you get my point. There's lots of things I don't think the fed should be involved with, but they are, and I have very little power to change any of that. I am against steroids in sports, but at this point it time I am for anything that takes away any bit of power from the federal gov't. I guess if you left it up to the leagues, they probably wouldn't worry. Since, like someone said, more HR, more Buckets, more seats taken, more money. I can understand where you come from but why don't you want the roids in sports? If a player is injured they are given to the player to help heal faster... Maybe it would cause less ijuries if they had a higher bone density, stronger muscles and tendons too. But to me, that's the problem. I think there has to be a limit on how strong a person should be, and it's the natural way. If we let everybody dope up artificially, they all will do it because that's the only way to stay on par with everybody else. Then games will be played by superhuman people. To me, that's not right. I like the natural way. And I don't think it would cause less injuries, because although you'd be bigger, so would the guy hitting you.

    spl daily driver

My trunk is 19" inches and 36"wide you think 15" woofers could fit?would the sound be that much bigger between the two sizes? How deep is it? Of how deep are you willing to go? Choose the size of woofer based on the enclosure, I chose 12" woofers because their enclosure was the largest that would fit in my trunk. its 54" inches long You have about 18 ft.3 gross to work with, 15's would work well as they Nightshades slightly smaller enclosures, you wouldn't utilize your entire trunk leaving room for batteries and amplifiers. thank you duran.. Realize though that in a trunked car the problem most often lies not with the size of the trunk but with the size of the trunk opening. Unless you plan on building the box inside the trunk, you may be more limited on box size than you think. So if you can, create a box with the dimensions you're thinking about out of cardboard and see if it'll pass through the opening.

    crunch 1500.1 any good

So what is your logic, that because Crunch puts 30 hz as the lower limit on their amps they can't reproduce any notes below that?

    Welcome to the IHoP

One more day, one more day, one more day. Till the 3 day weekend. After only a 1/3 work day tomorrow. And city winter league basketball starts tonight, so I'm anxious for that.

Are these amps really that good??

Why wouldn't people recommend the 1500 watt version for the XCON? Just because it's rated for 250 watts below the XCON's RMS? You think that 250 watts matters (not taking into account the sundown is underrated)? They are solid amps that will last. They aren't Legacy or Pyle POSs. Plus they are recommended so much because they have a forum on this board. So people here know the products well and you can talk to the owner easily, as he posts often.

    Welcome to the IHoP

might as well More money and time is spent stopping the use even though it's rampant use is everywhere. It doesn't make sense, then goal is to put buts in seats. The more home runs the more TD's the more goals the better. Look at football, the rules are changing every day to make the game far less about defense and more about offense. Disagree. The two foot down rule for WR this year proves that. Which rule is that? I was thinking about the push-out rule when a ball is caught in the air on the sideline. Is that what you're talking about?
  8. If you go bigger the power handling of the sub will be reduced. It probably would not be able to handle the full output of that amplifier. I'll ask again, how did you set your gain? Did you just arbitrarily set it a little over half? What voltage does your head unit put out down the RCAs?

    Awesome name.

    Welcome to the IHoP

I havent been to Qdoba's in years, that was the only thing I ate while in college. I liked Qdoba's more than Moe's, Im burnt out on Qdoba but would mind having some right now. Our Qdoba closed two years ago . I liked it more than Chipotle.

  12. Agree with things people have posted before this, but just an fyi to you- a sub's power handling has absolutely nothing to do with its sound quality. Nor does a high number even mean it will get loud.

    crunch 1500.1 any good

The amplifier had absolutely nothing to do with your system lacking deep bass.
  14. Those are just basic small format tweeters, I'm not sure what kind of tweeter you want that will fit any differently or better.

did i get a good deal?

Dustcap separating from the cone is about the easiest fix to do on a subwoofer. Get you some $2 glue and it's back on and fine.

    Hows this box sound?

Its 4.5" LENGTH after the corner of the port. Not width. It's stilll 5" wide. Nice design! Not talking about the length that is given. 15.25" port wall + .75" for the second wall = 16" 20.5" of internal depth - 16" = 4.5" away from the rear wall. Not to mention if it was 5" from the back it would be tuned to 34hz I follow you, you're right. Straight ports become L-shaped ones when they don't fit in the box depth-wise.

    Clipping...

If it still has the problem when using the ipod for signal (hopefully the ipod was wired straight to the amp, not through the head unit then to the amp as this will still cause the problem if the head unit is the problem), then the amp is bad. Try swapping amps to test.

Damn, feels like I just left work and now I have to go back already. I guess that's what 14 hour days will do. Sucky.

    Welcome to the IHoP

What a huge bitch. That's just mean, why would you treat somebody that way.
  20. If it was a prefab bandpass box then that's not hard to do.
  21. I take it it's a 4 ohm DVC sub but 2 channel amp? If so, you'd be a bit better off wiring the coils in series then bridging the amp.
  22. KU40

    Hows this box sound?

The picture I posted shows how I did it. the port area was subtracted, total gross for teh box was like 7.7ft^3 before port, wood and subwoofer displacement... Ah, I couldn't see that there were pictures because I was at work the first time I viewed the thread and the network there usually blocks pics.
  23. Sounds like an amp problem. But take a DMM to the coils of the sub as well to measure their resistance.
  24. KU40

    Clipping...

Umm hard to explain but it was definitely clipping. It was jumping around uncontrollably and definitely not doing what it was supposed to be. I can't really even try and describe the noise I feel like i'd give you the wrong impression Jumping around uncontrollably and unpredictably is not what clipping does. Often head units mess up in the cold and send strange signals down the RCAs. To confirm, plug an ipod or something into the amp for signal.

    Enclosure Help

To make it easier, just use the average depth of 15". Then you essentially have a 39" x 22" x 15" box, aka 6.0 cubes.
