Just FYI, having an enclosure too large lowers power handling above tuning as well. So it would have been easy to overexcurt the sub even with a higher subsonic filter setting because with that size of enclosure you probably could have broken the sub at any frequency with that power.

It drives me crazy when people talk about black ice. There is no black ice. The ice is clear. You could not see it because it was clear and you just see what's under it.

If you want monster midbass I'm not quite sure kickpanels are what you want. You'd probably want a larger mid, maybe an 8 incher. I believe most also work best in a large IB application such as the door, although making a hole in the back of the kickpanel can help. But others should chime in more about this as I've never messed with kick panels myself.

What town? Coldwater

The fact that there are enough claims to warrant a need for a "vaccine court" is all the more reason for me to never get any optional ones.

No there are two mosfets under there.

Just finished cleaning the throttle body. It was quite dirty, with thick layer of carbon buildup that was making my gas pedal start to be a little sticky at times (stuck closed, not open thankfully, ha). Now the pedal is smoooooth. No comment yet on idle response as I just turned it on for a second after putting it back together and it was cold so the RPMs were a little elevated anyways, not a true warm idle. But the darn thing threw the check engine light on again. Two weeks ago it was just the lean burn in bank 2 and the shop cleaned the MAF sensor and I suppose reset the codes. Yesterday the light came back on and when I read them today it was 2 codes for lean burn in both banks (P0171 and P0174). My guess is the intake gaskets. Hopefully just the upper ones. It's going to the shop next week to figure out.

Back after a full work week 5 hours away in a town of 500. Kinda got boring at nights. The last night I fell asleep at 9:00, half from being tired from the work that day and half just from boredom.

That fish looks sick. I would not want to eat it.

Yeah, the spider is part of the suspension. Too much excursion. Or if it was the tinsel leads, also too much excursion. though that could have been helped by too much power as well, as too much power can fry and break tinsels. What sub/amp/box/subsonic filter setting?

x2. A good receiver would probably cost 3-400 by itself. I think a receiver and maybe two floor-standing speakers would do you well. Then once you get more budget you can add the rest of the pieces around it.

Frequency response begins to lower. In other words, it becomes quieter. In a sealed enclosure you'll hear about an F3 point, that's where the frequency response is 3 decibels down from the reference level. Most sealed boxes have the F3 somewhere in the 40s. So the response will probably be flat from 55 hz and up, then start its roll off and become -3db at, say, 45 hz. Then it will be -6db at maybe 37 hz, -12 db at 22 hz, etc. It's a curve downwards. Ported boxes do the same right below tuning but with a much steeper curve. They are usually -3db only 2-3 hz below tuning, and -12 db only 5-6 hz below.

You're not going to play it full blast, you just want to see if it turns on and stays on. a 12 gauge power wire would even be enough. -
Distro block and wire size problem
KU40 replied to DeadlyMelody's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
It will be fine. You can always put smaller wire into a bigger hole. You can also put larger wire into a smaller hole, just have to trim some wires or get an adapter. -
Issue setting gain per the sticky instructions

That's how I've always done it. Works fine by me. -
Issue setting gain per the sticky instructions

i had this same problem, where is your bass level at on your deck? i was told to leave that where you normally have it before adjusting the gain on the amp. i turned my bass level all the way to negative 15 and only got up to about 12v on the multimeter. after i fired up my car the bass sounded real weak until i turned the bass level back up to zero, im assuming this is where the lack of voltage is stemming from. im gonna go back out this weekend to see if that was why. edit: my deck has a seperate subwoofer gain control on it besides the whole EQ. i think what most people mean when they say turn all your settings to zero is the eq. but someoen can correct me if im wrong -15 on the sub output would be all the way DOWN. You'd want to set the gain with it at 0, as that is all the way up. That's why you had low voltage at the amp's outputs- input voltage from the head unit was low. -
If you want to build a bandpass box for those it's pretty much going to be guess and check anyways, so if you start this be prepared to possibly build 3-4 enclosures. Though if you're satisfied with your bed bandpass maybe you have low expectations so pretty much anything will do.

You only have to make it L-shaped if it does not fit within the depth of your box.

Thanks . I was wondering what kind of marinade I should use. You just use salt? That's easy enough. I'm a bit worried about trying anything fancy since some new friends are coming over and I don't know their tastes, plus I'm not sure how the grill will act so I kinda want to keep it simple for starters. But I love bbq sauce so I'm sure i'll spread some of that on there towards the end of cooking.

If you get babies, I'd do a rack per person. Spares 2-3 racks should be fine. You want to cook them as slow as possible. 4 hours would be minimum, but to make them take that long they have to cook S L O W. Not so sure your grill can do that on any setting. What do you have? It's a Traeger Junior BBQ055. It has three settings for speed of augering in new pellets and therefore fuel amount and temperature- smoke, medium, and high. I think smoke is supposed to be around 220*, medium 350*, and high 450*. But I'm sure those are in good weather conditions and it may only be about 50* outside on Saturday so it may not be able to quite get up to those temps. I'll just have to see though. I'm doing the initial burn-in today so I'll see how it responds. Most of the recipes in the book that came with it say to cook the ribs on medium for a couple hours then switch to smoke for another hour or two.

Going to the store to get ribs for the inaugural Traeger cooking this Saturday for the KU-Missouri game. There's going to be 5 of us I believe, not sure how many lbs of ribs is enough. 10? But the cooking area within my traeger is only about 15" x 20" so I can probably only do about two racks. Also trying to decide if I want to use the "smoke" setting or one of the regular settings to just grill them.

The MDF is probably already ruined. Just a little water will deteriorate that stuff. But if it drips into the middle of the top you may be in better shape since at least that's not a joint that could fall apart.
-
Ported will be louder from about 30-45 hz. In the minimum sealed enclosure the subs will start to roll off at a higher frequency. Since you have the extra power you may be able to compensate for it if you have an EQ to go along with it.

The Infinity looks sharp. I think lowering it would make it look stupid. It has the perfect even spacing between the tire and panel all the way around. -

Try installing the amp in a friend's install to see if it works there, and also try a new amp with your wires. But it does sound like an amplifier problem.
