You could take up some of the space inside the box. Lowering net volume while keeping port dimensions the same would raise tuning frequency.

Maybe they shouldn't have been speeding. I mean wouldn't that have solved the whole problem? Why were they going 75 in a 55 during a charity event? Makes no sense.

It's pretty hard to find the room for a ported box for two subs under the rear seats of those. How are the subs wired? Are they 4 ohm DVCs? Is the Boss amp a 1, 2, or 4 channel?

I like my Explorer. But it's a '98. But if you have growing kids that are already teenagers, you'll probably need a full-size. My dad has an Expedition that's pretty nice. I fit fine in the middle seats and I'm 6'3".

Xover not working on new amp
KU40 replied to mrbojang's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
What head unit do you have? Is there a crossover on the head unit for the rear speakers? If so, it's likely a highpass, and it may be cutting off all bass frequencies down the RCAs to your amp. If that happens you'll be fighting to get a bass signal and have to crank the gains, which will make the voices more prevalent. -
Synthetic Oils & Changing Intervals

My opinion must have been formed back during this formulation. When I worked at a shop our mechanics would bag hard on Pennzoil because of their propensity to cause sludge. I have not used or heard anything on their newer stuff so maybe it is better and my judgment is just dated. -
No joke. Stop it. i guess if its bothering you,, then "no more" posts. too badd you couldn't help me out. My job as a moderator is not related to any advice I might give. The problem is when you make three threads in different sections of the forum, the only difference being the last sentence asking "Should I buy an Fi Q," or "Should I buy an Icon," or "What subs should I get?" You don't need to post in the same information in different sections and splatter the board. Just make one good thread in a general forum and allow replies to come. The people that enter those forums may still recommend a Q or Icon or whatever else.

Ported 12 will be louder. Lower depends on your definition of low. Ported will be louder from 25 hz and up, sealed below that. If you want an even frequency response, sealed is a better choice. Ported exaggerates the low end (30-50 hz), which is not where most rock music has notes.

stock electrical
KU40 replied to erik67111's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
It will probably be fine. I have a Sundown 1200D and a 4 channel amp on my 135 amp alternator with stock battery and no problems at all. -
Why in the world did you do this? Now you have a leaky box, which, depending on the size of the holes, can vastly reduce performance of the sub and make it very quiet.

Alpine deck plays tuner but not cd's or ipod.

Ah, brilliant. Good reminder. -
If you start getting large amounts of dimming and voltage drop below 12, don't turn it up any farther. Yes the sub will likely be able to go louder, but if you push the amplifier too hard with that low voltage it may be damaged. Better to listen at only 3/4 capable volume for a month until you get a larger alternator than to turn it up fully and mess something up.

Don't strap them at .5 ohm. You're just asking to fry the amps. That's the same as .25 ohm each.

Well I wouldn't trust Pennzoil anything in my vehicle. Never had any experience with royal purple. -

Above the reply text box is a little white square that has a picture of a tree on it. Click on that and input the location address of the picture. -

It might be a setting that you have to turn on. check the manual. -
Will this head unit work with..

Using "Y" adapters will make my amp blow? I didn't say that. My first comment was sarcasm. -

It will make your amp blow up. Of course it will work. You can make any head unit work with any amp. And since you wouldn't care if you need fade controls, you could just use one RCA output and Y adapters if you need to. -

This part is sarcasm correct? I think he was talking about the orange one farther up the page, just lumped it into the same post. -
ok, so not to thread jack, but ive been told to set it with a DMM and with out one, basically all i need to do is take my sub, put on the 50 Hz tone and just turn it up until distortion. what does this "distortion" typically sound like? lol It can have a variety of sounds depending on the sub and box, just listen for anything changing in the tonality of the sub. But typically what I hear is a hollowing effect. Stand back a few feet and you can hear it better. Also, once the sub stops getting louder with increased volume knob turns, it's at its limit. turn it down.

Does it sound any good? What is it tuned to? -
What kind of weird kid torture is this? Silly Japanese. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hikm8p1W31s&NR=1

Or just upgrade once and be done with it.

Turn the box around, fire the sub forward, and seal off the trunk behind the sub in this instance. Works better than firing backward in many cases.
