    15" Mag D2

I have 1000+ watts on my 15d2 and it's pretty perfect. so if you'd do that you'd need a 1000 watt @ 1 ohm amp for one sub, 2000 watts @ 2 ohms amp for two subs.
  2. i posted this at Si.n also, but it's obviously more at home here. and for anybody who doesn't look at that forum. http://www.realmofexcursion.com/videos/Sou...rity/d215.1.wmv oh yeah, and ROE is down for a day or two as they change servers I think, so it probably won't work for a while. sorry ps- have I ever said I love this thing? i should order another and sleep with it. excellent, excellent job.

    some 15D2 pron for you

yeah i know, sorry for that. the sun was starting to set and I couldn't find anything that would stick on the cone. but rest assured it's moving an inch each way. Didn't quite have the sub level up to the max I put it at, either (which is halfway up), only had it at about 40%.

Got a problem, need some help

dang. i want to hear one. i'm trying to recommend it to many people, my friends are looking for systems now but they're going cheaper. that's too bad. What's different on the new ones? well, you don't have to explain exactly, but just give me the effects and compare it to the last if you would.......

Box sizes for S.I. 15" magnum

holy schnikes, four 15 D2's would be insane. one is already pretty insane for me and everybody I know that's sat in my car. I'm tuned to 30 hz and i think that's about perfect for me, and i'd go to the upper end of the box size spectrum. if you want just a little more SPL go for 3.5 cubes at 30 hz, for a bit of a flatter response stick with their 27 hz tune. though the difference won't be huge.

Got a problem, need some help

so are you saying I should try to blow my no-logo 15D2 so I can send it in for a recone? are the new ones really that much better? I don't know how they could have made many improvements, I thought mine was pretty perfect.
  7. um, the D2 wins. I already call it. ED isn't a bad company from my experiences, I still own four flat cone 12K's, had them in a sealed box for a while and thought they were great. Then I ported a 15D2 to 30 hz and........we have a winner. it's probably just as loud with better lows. the 12k's are solid performers and I'm selling them to a couple friends, but I don't think I'll ever stray from my SI.

    D2 15 on 400 RMS??

When my Crossfire BMF100D decided it needed a new mosfet I ran my 15D2 off of two bridged channels of my VR404 (about 200 watts) and it did quite well, surprising actually. 400 watts would be fine with it, but I'm not sure how it would compare to an Atlas. I would assume just a tad better (not dissing on the atlas, i know it's a quality sub, I just think the D2 is a bit more sub).
  9. I've never had problems with my 15" D2 causing tire wear, nor have i heard of it. however you should get your vehicle aligned with the amount of weight you normally carry in there, so if you aligned it before you put the box in there it may be a tad off, although if they say they checked it and it's fine...... a worn part on the front end can cause uneven tire wear. usually underinflated tires wear on both the inside and the outside, and with it only being underinflated for a week, that's not long enough to cause serious damage, unless it was severely underinflated and it damaged the tire when you drove on it, then after it was fully aired up again the damaged tire wore on the inside. but again, you just got it fixed, and if the tire was damaged the tech wouldnt' have fixed it. i'd wonder about worn parts on the front end. worn shocks will normally cause uneven wear across the whole tread, not just on the inside. i wouldn't have them put on new shocks until they check other parts, because i have a feeling that's not going to fix it.

    Pics of 15" install

looks real nice, I bet the tint makes it killer

I wish my mag had a logo on it...

why not just draw something out on a piece of paper yourself, then cut it out, and spray paint it on yourself? that way you know exactly what you are getting and can make it how you want.

    Ideal Box

wow that's really not any breathing room. any way you could scooch her back a bit? Looks pretty good though.
  13. I'm running a crossfire BMF 1000D. the nine.1 has been tested to do about 1500 watts at 1 ohm. so it's a strong amp. but I would also recommend MMATS and Orion.

Hi Res LOGO, + Are Mags RARE?

oh dang so I actually have one of the rarest of the rare? a 15" with no logo? one of less than 25. Anybody want it for...........10.........billion........dollars?

    Question about the Mag

    37" long X 18" wide X 15.5" tall. Port is 14" tall X 3" wide X 27.5" long. this is a 3.8 cube box tuned to 30 hz.

    Question about the Mag

oh yes it gets loud. fairly ridiculous. I think it gets louder than my old setup with 4 ED 12K's sealed. At least it sounds louder. Haven't really had it metered, though. But it tickles, and thumps your chest like I've never felt before. If it didn't give me a headache I might listen to it loud all the time cuz it's just like, aaaahhhhhhhhhh.....

    Question about the Mag

hey, before you get started, I will tell you that my car has almost the exact same dimensions as your car (I have a '91 olds cutlass supreme, so same body style), and while yes there is a lot of room in the trunk, getting the box through the hole to the trunk restricts you. I had the same worry about the 15 1/2 height, but I came out fine. the box for my 15D2 is 3.8 cubes tuned to 30 hz. I can give you the dimensions if you want and you can build a similar design. I'll tell you that you won't be able to get much more than 3.8 cubes unless you tune higher than 30 hz so the port doesn't displace so much (or else just use less port area than I did.)

    Need more parameters!

seems like a lot of those d's on the end should be s's. like.....qes, qts, fs, etc.
  19. KU40

    is this clipping?

well it probably does have something to do with the amp. Whether it's internal or just loose connections on the outside is what we'll find out. Does it go into protect mode when it shuts off? What are the ratings for the amp, and how do you have the sub wired? How long have you had the sub and amp together?

Building a new box for the mag....

yeah tuning higher will make it louder. how much sq will you lose is hard to tell. You won't have quite as much low-lows, but the 40-50 hz range will be noticeably louder. If by sq you mean "tightness," well that's hard to tell. generally a higher tune makes it a little more muddy sounding, but to what extent I can't tell you. maybe it won't at all. My 15D2 is in 3.8 tuned to 30 hz, and it's just awesome. It's the only one I've had it in, though.

    Mag #'s

hit 140 today. 15" in 3.8 cubes tuned to 30 hz on 1000 watts. I wanted to see how this compared to my old setup but it really didn't do it. because my cd player kept skipping below 50 hz or so, so i really couldn't get a reading where i figure i would have been loudest. and this is in a trunk and they wouldn't let me fold down my backseat. and i forgot to take out my rear deck speakers. so I imagine there's a few more db's that didn't show up today.
