  1. basically anything small and hatchback, like the Honda CRX. I don't know all the euro cars, so I just put that in as an example.

    Floor Standing speakers.

You have this backwards. Generally you want to have 2 woofers with one tweeter if you're going to do this sort of thing due to tweeters being more efficient than the woofers. As for your question about 3/4 way, yours are 4 way. The woofer does count. Don't do any more than a 3 way. To keep it simple as your first project I may suggest just doing 2-way with a tweeter and mid. Is this for a home theater I take it? Do you have a separate subwoofer? If so, that 2 way is all you really need. If you don't have a subwoofer you can put one into the same general box as the mid and tweeter, but you have to remember to isolate the chambers for the different speakers. Also don't forget that if/when you put the mid into a box, the enclosure for it has to be calculated as well.

    Box help!

Are you going to completely redo the box and add that lost 1" of depth on somewhere else to maintain box size? Or you could just cut off an inch from the back and adjust the port accordingly. You'll have a little less airspace. Other than that, not much I can tell you.

    mounting question

yeah, why not wood? That's the easiest method, and since it should be able to stay in the factory location behind the door panel you don't have to worry about looks. What tweeter are you pairing these with? And have you found a location for them yet?

I was born on April 22, 1984. The date of Easter on your birth year was Sunday, 22 April 1984. Got to love ups...

LOL how is that possible? Yeah, especially the part where he said the subs came two days apart but then said one came on tuesday and the other Friday. That's 3 days to me!

    Welcome to the IHoP

sounds a lot like what my gf just went through this week with her new roommates at her new place. Their rent is basically 250 for each of the 3 girls. At the meeting that the landlord and the three girls had on monday, my gf said that she wants out of the house next may because she'll be getting a job somewhere else (lease ends two months later). Everybody said ok, and the landlord agreed to drop the rent to 650 for the other girls (325 apiece). Everybody agreed at the meeting. The next day one of the roommates sends an email to my gf saying that she should have to pay the difference in rent each month (150 per month) because their individual rents would go up and that is very unfair and they are not ok with it. I'm like that's dumb because everybody agreed on it at the meeting. not only that, but it's only 75 dollars for each of them per month, or 150 for the whole two months my gf would be out of the lease early. You seriously can't handle an extra 75 per month? give me a break. That's so petty. After some deliberation my gf just agreed to pay it just to keep the civility throughout the year they have to live together now.

what kind of manual labor? j/w First I ripped out the walls and flooring in the bathroom in the house my dad and stepmom bought for her dad. Linoleum floors = the devil. Then helped put away about 500 light truck tires at my dad's tire shop. and did an oil change and changed the tires on my explorer, but that doesn't really count.

    Welcome to the IHoP

Just got back from my week "vacation," although I did more manual labor in that week than I have the last year combined probably. Now it's time for the new job to start tomorrow.......

sound relativity to speed and pressure

Sure it's possible. I bet over there they don't have rules like the US does about not breaking the sound barrier around cities, though.

    Port Size - Help Needed.

what sub(s) are going in there? With 100 sq. inches of port it needs to be 28 inches long. That will give you 6.4 cubes net, port displacing 1.75 cubes. That leaves .42 cubes for sub displacement. That'll work if you're going for two 15's. If this is for one 18 you can shorten the port to 27 inches and you'll have .3 cubes left for sub displacement and 6.6 cubes of net volume.

    Welcome to the IHoP

Build it and they will come. You shall be blessed with topless women dancing on it. Ahh, the blessings are welcome kind sir. there are sorority girls living all around the house, so pictures will be posted if it happens and I'm around. that's about all most sorority girls are good for in my book. There were a bunch of loud annoying 19 year old sorority girls behind us at the Royals game saturday. They were all "Kappa gamma delta, whooo!" and "OMG, like, wait, what? OMG, he's sooo hot" and one time girl 1 - what are we doing after the game? girl 2 - "Let's do something fun." Wow. great idea. No, let's do something boring! and they were all unattractive too. The dudes that were with them didn't say a word the whole game. I don't blame them. But I did get to follow THE nicest pair of legs I've ever seen all the way out of the stadium and into the parking lot. They were magical.
  16. Yeah I've heard that's best too. There is some technical jargon for why but I forget. Wiring coils in series/parallel does make a difference in Le I believe (series has higher Le). But I wouldn't change everything else up just for that.

oops I forgot about that part. still had my mind in car audio I guess, my bad.

Need help with ported 2 15Q

but you have to remember that taking out the port displacement lowers your box volume down to that 5.79 cubic feet. So plug that into your box volume now on winISD. your port will change again, it will get longer. You have to just keep subtracting the new port volume from the box volume you entered until they add up to your overall box volume.

    Need a receiver

I have a Pioneer, it gets the job done.
  20. you basically just wire the sub to match your amp. If you have a 2 ohm optimized amp and have a sub with dual 4 ohm coils, you'll wire the coils in parallel to the amp. Conversely, if you have a 4 ohm amp and a dual 2 ohm sub, you would wire the coils in series. I try to wire in parallel if possible but it's not a big deal to wire in series. Really not much difference.

    HT subwoofer enclosure

I just plugged the parameters into winISD and the box it comes out recommending is 11.5 cubes tuned to 17 hz. The response is pretty ruler flat down to 20 hz. If that's too big, 6 cubs is pretty good too and pretty flat to 30 hz with the same tune.

    Is a 12" enough?

    ported 12 definitely.
