power troubles
KU40 replied to badasschevillac's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
when it cuts out go see if it's in protect or if the amp just shut off -
Throw away the audiobahns and buy another type R (same model as the one you already have), then put the two in a ported box. If you can't find one like you have, sell it and buy two that are the same.

Phelps got his 8th gold. Amazing feat. 31 of the US's 57 medals so far have been in swimming. wow.

yeah you can mount in the stock location. If the aftermarket tweeter doesn't screw in securely just manufacture some sort of custom bracket. Unlike the mid, the tweeter doesn't need a secure and airtight baffle. It just needs to be tacked in so it doesn't move around.

Save it for a rainy day or retirement.

Ran into that with a couple of friends from that hail storm we had earlier, bunch of bull chit is what it is. How about Progressive? I just switched to them from Farmer's and saved 400 per year. Farmers was pretty good, I only had one claim with them (when my stereo got stolen), and they did what every insurance company should do, I had no beefs. But 400 is a lot. It was weird seeing the breakdown of the where the premium comes from, though. With Farmers, about 280 was collision and comprehensive, whereas with Progressive it was only about 140 for those two. They were higher for bodily injury though. I am not a big fan of them either, although they are way better than Geico. Be careful to compare your coverage carefully, both are really keen on giving you less for less. Yeah I was wary of that as well. Everything stayed the same except bodily harm, which dropped from 100k/300k on my last insurance to 50k/150k on Progressive. But that's not a $200 difference in the premium, maybe $20. With only 150k I'd want a big umbrella... is 150k not enough? I've never had experience with that sort of thing.

what size is your alternator

Pioneer makes some good cheap comps (or coaxials).

I didn't know it, but apparently there is "virtual school" for not only high schoolers, but middle and grade schoolers as well. A coworker of mine has 4 kids ranging from age 4-10 and the three oldest are doing this virtual school. I guess they just give you a laptop and you do all your schooling at home. wtf? What about interchild relationships? If you ask me, that's too young to be doing this and it may hurt the childrens' social development.

Yeah I HAD to have the 3/4" spacer for my JL XR mids in my doors or else they wouldn't fit. So the wood became multifunctional, both for additional depth as well as changing speaker hole size. My tweeters are on the little panel by the front of the windows. Not the A-pillar, but the thing on the inside of the mirrors. You just have to be careful about how you mount it on there, because if you mount the tweeter too far forward you won't be able to close the door. So if you put them there, make sure to align the tweeter with the door closed. I just drilled three small holes into that panel to mount the tweeter. One for the screw to mount it and one for each of the + and - wires. So it's not flush mounted, but works. You could probably flush mount them in the door panels right above the mid, but that would obviously require cutting holes into the door panels. I went the route I did for a less invasive procedure. If you wanted to cut your door panel, you may be able to get some midbasses to fit a little further back from the midrange in the factory location. I have a map holder pocket in the way on my door, but maybe you don't. Or you could even sorta mount the midbass inside the map holder. Imaging for the midbass is not as important as the midrange and tweeter, so it's ok if you kinda cover it up with the seat. Just an option. as for kicks pointing inwards instead of angled up, I'd think it would work ok. Might not sound as good as kicks, but if you think about it, your factory locations are pointing straight in as well, and the kicks would only be 12" away from that, so shouldn't be a huge difference. But if you place the tweeter down there it may be quite a different sound than if you put it up by the mirror like I have.

Bigger Is Better I'd give you a link to the original design article by Terry Cain, but the fullrangedriver.com site seems to be down

dammit why did I still apparently feel the need to wake up at 6:30 on a day off?

RE XXX, Infinity Kappa, and I think Image Dynamics Chameleons might be. Pretty sure ID has one of their lines at 2 ohms anyways. But honestly impedence is about the last thing you should be looking at when buying components. That extra power isn't going to matter at all if you don't like the way the components sound because you forced yourself to pick from a limited list. Not to mention 4 and even 8 ohm components can be just as loud as the 2 ohm components with the extra power.

if the voice coils are wired in parallel, that reading looks right. No, underpowering won't cause noise. Did you have the sub sitting straight up free air when you tested it? Having that vented pole piece covered (in that case by the floor) will cause noise when played.

Man I'm loving this weather. Usually in August it's 100 degrees everyday, but it's supposed to be split between 70s and 80s for the next 10 days. niiiiiiiiiice.

Worked 13 hours Tuesday and 12 hours yesterday in the field, so I get tomorrow off again! That's the third Friday in four weeks I've gotten off. I could get used to that. Too bad I don't get to go back into the field again until I get my new assignments first of October, so this is my last short week for probably at least 2 months. Now I just have to write reports and junk.

just got a lanzar opti4000d.. what do i do now?
KU40 replied to grandhustle575's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
why not just restrict the power output of the amp to what the SSD's can handle. -
When I had a speaker cut out then had to crank the volume to get it to come back on, the amp was the problem.

is the box for your W7 ported or sealed

Autotek 500.s
KU40 replied to joselmartinez's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Can you tell us more about the system and what you want? Do you want two 12's and a 1500 watt amp, 6.5" components up front and an amp for them, etc.? $2500 is quite a large budget for things we can come up with. -
Old School Amp Crossover HELP!
KU40 replied to JazzScreamer's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I think that's right too. You could get different cards designed for different frequencies and plug it in.
