OMG look at this
KU40 replied to dustin420's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
hmm, I remember saying this would happen in another thread and somebody else saying it wouldn't/couldn't........ As for what to do, you're pretty much stuck between two options. The first would be to scrap this amp for something that can handle the input voltage. The second would be to just turn the gains up on your other amps so that they max out at 20 on your head unit volume as well. You'll obviously lose some steps in loudness between notches on the head unit. But 20 should be enough. I guess it all depends on how much you love this new amp. When did the amp shut off? Was it during your full tilt runs or just randomly? If during full tilt, it may have overdrive protection on it. It sensed the clipping and shut down. If just randomly, maybe it's a lose wire arcing and shorting the load. -
I would guess maybe 1000 watts on that legacy. I figure 4000 is a max rating, so knock it in half for the RMS rating- 2000. then knock that in half because it's legacy and that number is likely rated not only overly high in the first place, but with 18 volts at 65% distortion for 1/10th of a second.

I keep having dreams about lions eating friends and family members. dammit.

I'd say just buy some coaxials and put them in the factory spot.
-
Gonna mount them into those air ducts? Lots of cooling straight onto the motor! and maybe some kind of horn effect. crazy imaging anyways, ha.
-
You better like the way it sounds! I would love to be there to see the "fudge me" disappointed look on your face if you turn it on and it doesn't sound the way you thought. haha. But really, I hope you do like it.

As I took it, mono = bridged. -
what about doing a 3-way? putting a 6-8" in the door or kick with the 4" and tweet in the dash? Otherwise I'd do a 4" component set and mount the tweeter wherever it sounds best.

you have never heard of a sub that calls for ported box only? No, I have. Just not what he's saying, that the 15" SSD is for ported and the 12" SSD is for sealed. Usually the 15 and 12 inch versions in the same model line are meant for the same application. Many, in fact, are the exact same motor with just bigger basket and cones. I don't know if this is the case for FI or not. Some companies engineer each size so that performance is comparable and proportional throughout the sizes, regardless of size. But even in that case, they should call for the same style box.

Ported can still sound good on rock music. If built right, the transient response will still be there (mine is). However, if the 15 is more meant for ported boxes (I've never heard of that, usually the same model line will perform in similar boxes), I'd go 12. I think you'd want sealed. As for the enclosure, yes you have to add the amount of space the sub takes up. So in your example, you may need to build the box to have 1.6 or 1.65 cubic feet internally.

Just really wanted to say ye. it's a funny word.

You talking British Petroleum? You'll get something free out of it. Oil companies always give little things away. I think I got a small digital clock from one, a little bison from another, a laser pointer from another............. But I think most of them just talked about opportunities you'll have with them. I remember them talking about how you can go overseas if you want, like just offshore western Africa, etc, or be transferred to most any of their offices around the country and globe. But most of the time if you work for a company big in America, you'll be in Houston.

wow, I think this conversation about the calculator is the longest-running thing I've seen in the HOP.

Most probably

Man, Fay is exhibiting some incredible resiliency. It's been over land dumping rain for like a week and it's still a Tropical Depression as it sits over Georgia and Tennessee now.

When I walked in tonight my roommate was watching The Hills on MTV. Dumbest show ever. Here is how every scene plays out: A few people, usually girls or maybe one guy with girl(s), are talking about some drama-related subject about how somebody doesn't get along with somebody else or something totally superficial. After the "bomb dropper" line, shots of people looking at each other ensue for at least 10 seconds. The first is of the person who "lost," who just looks totally surprised that the other girl would say such a thing. Switch to a shot of the second girl, looking like yeah I said it, so there. And then maybe a shot of a third girl in the group, and she just looks like she wants a big cock in her mouth. Rinse and repeat 10 times, and hey, you have an episode! 3/4 of it is just shots of people looking somewhere else with no audio. wtf?

man, I have like 6 bug bites on the insides of my thighs from fishing last night. But the worst is the one right under my groin. wtf. I don't know how that happened, I was wearing jeans.

welcome to grown-up life!

I feel you. I've never had them before either. But now if I don't take an allergy pill my eyes get puffy and itchy, and not to mention runny nose. The worst is that if I don't take my allergy pill I'll get so much drainage into my stomach while I sleep that when I eat breakfast in the morning I'll get nauseous. That was the weirdest thing to try and figure out. I'd be sick for days.

I've seen the inverted surround popping up in a number of places recently. Is that solely for smaller total depth?

I'm not sure what that means. I was just saying don't get that particular kind of speaker. A 4-way coaxial is a waste. If you need door speakers, we can recommend some. Just tell us what size, budget, install plans, etc.
