I agree with Rybaudio and 95honda. There really isn't a reason to need one. When you tune that low it's almost a mix between ported and sealed, and the sub probably won't begin to unload until 10-12 hz. Which I'm not sure if I've ever heard anything that low in a movie or music.

3 BTL 12" Need ideas on inexpensive, but good amps, and also anot

diablo has it right. As do the other suggestions of getting only two subs, and maybe BL's at that. How were you going to fit a probably 8 foot enclosure in the trunk of that car anyways? That's about how big it would be for 3 ported 12s. -
your ears are really the best tool for that. what kind of stuff do you hope to find out?

I absolutely can't stand that ish!!! I never understood, when someone else does an illegal lane change,...cut you off,...and gets pissed, cuz they almost hit you when it's their fault. I think they're still giving licenses out of cracker jack boxes. Makes me want to choke em out if they don't get outta my way. And they wonder why road-rage is at an all time high Welcome to the new age, where self-centeredness is all the rage. I don't think centeredness is a word.

Why go on a cruise to the Bahamas and eat ramen noodles the whole time? That just seems to be what you're doing. Buying great subs and a good deck and components and putting junk amps on them. How much do you really want to spend on the amps? -
u sir need to take plenty of pics of all those hot cali girls! :boobs: I hope neither of those is your gf so this doesn't offend you, but I don't find them attractive.

haha that made me crack up

did it sound any good?

There is never a time when it will hurt anything to wire two separate speakers in different polarities. It is simply about how it sounds. In my old car I found out that the best sound came when the right front and left rear speakers were out of phase with the other two. Similarly, right now I believe I have the right tweeter out of phase with the mid on that side and both speakers on the left side in my front stage. There are times when you HAVE to wire speakers out of phase, such as in an isobaric subwoofer setup. But that's really the only time I can think of.
-
Well I'll answer anyways. I would just use one tweeter, and where it goes is up to you. Before permanently attaching it to the door or A-pillar, stick some tape on the back and wire it up, then just stick the tweeter in each spot and listen to it. this way you can tell what positioning sounds best. In my experiences, having the tweeters in the A-pillars helps to elevate the sound stage, but it can often make the tweeters sound too bright. You may also run into problems with having the tweeter and woofer farther apart.
-
It seems the only difference is that there are two pairs of tweeters in the first diagram but only one pair in the second. In that case, I'd definitely choose only one pair of tweeters. Not only are they generally quite a bit more efficient than the woofers in a component set, but it's easier to mess up the sound stage with extra tweeters placed in different locations than having two mids right next to each other, like you have in your door.

also, your example describes series wiring. That will net you a 4 ohm load. This is not the same as reversing polarity. All that you would do to reverse polarity is switch the wires going to the AMP. That is to say, switch the + lead to the -, and vice versa. You would not switch any wires on the dual voice coil sub. To get a 1 ohm load you'll still want to wire the sub in parallel- all positives together to the + on the amp and all negatives together to the - on the amp. Whether you'll have to reverse polarity depends on how it sounds once installed. If it's out of phase with the interior speakers you'll want to switch the polarity. However, this is not always a given when you invert the sub, as Jim mentioned. It's just like interior speakers- sometimes switching polarity in one will yield better results. It's not necessary to have every speaker in your vehicle in phase.

I'll be the first to say good morning.

Good luck giving a square sub 100+ watts over its rating, DOUBLE the power? Get real, you cant believe everything you hear On the other hand the BTL still remains musical on 6,000 watts, and takes burps id 9,000 watts no problem. Don't forget the efficiency as well. The Solo X is only 89.7 efficient, while the BTL is above 90. i had an L5 rated 600 rms and i fed it with an 1100 rms amp I had a 20 watt tweeter and ran it with a 150 watt amp.

you would think. but it wasn't. Pitching changes every third batter extended 3 innings to 1.5 hours.

Because of the huge sudden influx of morons? yeah........it's quite out of hand. Where did they all come from all of a sudden? Denim and the mods sure have their hands full. I pity the foo' I know it's not nice and detracts from the forum a little, but I can't help being a little bit mean.

haha this made me laugh because it's after 3 pages of garbage. But it is in the newbie sign in section, after all.

hahahaha all this stuff is so funny. are you people serious? I'm with bigjon on this one, I vote to lock it Denim. (not that you need my vote or that it's important at all)

This morning on a talk radio show the poll of the day that callers would try and guess the answer was "78% of people surveyed said they were the most worried about this on Halloween for their children." The answer: Girls would be wearing too skimpy/sexy of an outfit.

hopefully you did today. I heard that Thursday (aka tomorrow) may be a big downer for markets because the U.S. GDP was going to be announced and it probably wouldn't be good.

I think I'm going to join the YWCA next to where I work. I always thought they hated men, but apparently they don't. It's not going to be as much fun working out by myself, but it's just so convenient because I park right in front of it every day for work. Plus they have a pool, which most gyms don't.

the highlights of my day include hot sauce and getting results in my lab report that actually make sense I love getting lab results. But for my job it's like "I hold some of the future of this company in my hands right here. If the results show they're ok, they have nothing to worry about. If something comes up too high, they'll be getting a BIG cleaning bill, some hassle, and a nick on their reputation." It's kind of empowering. Supposed to be in the 70s for the rest of the week, hooray.

When is the majority of the American public going to understand that oil companies do not set oil prices?
