    election

The next time you have to fill out race on a form, see if Muslim is listed in the choices. But in fact I misspoke. Muslim is not a religion. A Muslim is a person that adheres to the Islam religion. Boy, my Western Civilization I professor would lop me on the head for that. But it's like saying a person who follows Christianity is a Christian. Is being Christian a race? But Obama isn't black, either. He's biracial.

That's what 200 years of oppression will do.

actually, if we bring troops back home, wouldn't we have MORE troops here in the US to defend the country? Not to mention that trying to disarm the american public is WAAAAAYYYYY different than disarming the military. I'm not an Obama supporter but your arguments are just completely ILLOGICAL.

Conspiracy Theorist take on Lupe's 3 album titles

I can. and a single world government is about the dumbest thing that could ever happen.
  6. the internet has basically all the information you would ever need. Even going into something like napa's website and putting in your car will let you know how big your alternator is. Or you can do what I do, and type in "1996 blazer alternator" into a search engine. It's really that easy. Try it. In fact, I would like to see you say "I searched for xxxx and it said this....." before you ask another question. Sorry to ruin your fun vladd.
  7. oh, didn't know the grills were attached. That's weird. oh well.

    Welcome to the IHoP

funny you say that, because I got passed on the shoulder today. on an on ramp to a highway. I wasn't driving slow, I merged at the bottom of the on ramp going 65, the speed limit. dumbass almost clipped my rear end on his way around, too. I was sooooo happy when a truck going 55 was in front of him on the highway and he couldn't pass for the 5 miles he was driving on it and I was right behind him

    Welcome to the IHoP

Interesting prediction, why? denim quote The real question is where is the economically conservative, socially middle person that the country really needs. *raises hand?* But I hate politics. I agree with much of what Aaron said that I deleted for sake of length. And while trying to adhere to his wish to not become political in here, I just want to say that I wish the other parties would have their fair share of airtime. Let them debate and things. Sadly money rules, and with the way people blindly follow either Republicans or Democrats these days, IMO it would take at least 6-7 elections for an independent, green, etc. to *maybe* start getting some recognition.

damn, wish I would have read this before I just bought an amp 15 minutes ago!

    help with speaker system please

That is an absurd amount of speakers to put into a vehicle. Are you planning on having parties out of it out in the country? You will be deaf in no time, if you aren't getting there already. May as well get another two T8004s. On two of them run two 5" speakers to each channel so that each channel on those two amps sees 2 ohms. Then on the third amp do the same thing with the 6s and tweeters. edit since vladd posted at the same time as I did: I agree, it won't sound good. It'll just have loud sound.
  14. Isn't the use of an oscope also at times dependent on other information to ensure that a typical volume will not blow a sub? For instance, if you have a 2000 watt amp on a 500 RMS sub, setting the amp with an oscope for 2000 watts will look like a perfect sine wave, but you'll still kill the sub because of the thermal limits. So you'd still need to clamp the speaker wire to monitor the actual power output of the amplifier. This also goes for mechanical limits, as well, and you'd need to know the characteristics of the box and how the woofer reacts in that box for that. A 1000 watt amp with a perfect oscope readout can still kill a 1000 watt sub if the box is too large and allows the sub to go over xmech. So then you'd need to depend on some modeling software or a good eye/ear to know when mechanical limits have been reached. I've always set mine by ear, too.

    Opinions on sub and amp

phoenix gold makes decent stuff. I've never heard of the amp. The tuning of that ported box is likely a little bit high, reduce it to 30-32 hz and see how you like it. It should clean up a bit. What size is the box?
  16. KU40

Sealed box, Common or separate chambers?

So it would be a center divider with a whole in the middle? Err, perhaps just call it a brace. haha that made me laugh
  17. I understand that you're going to try mounting upside down, and that's fine (as I have previously mentioned). I just wanted to point out that you most likely won't be redoing your settings every other day, right? I mean once you pop the grill covers off when you first mount it, set the crossovers and gain where you want it, and put the grill back on, then you shouldn't have to worry about it for..... life, right?
  18. No difference in sound, but definitely a difference in dynamic capability. Low depth = low excursion which means low output at low frequencies. Many "slim" subs are better off being used as a midbass although there are exceptions. Personally I would avoid them if I could. This is true. I guess right now I have SI's Mag and BM on the mind, but those aren't true slim subs. Although I suppose, if you built the right box, you could have decent enough low end extension with a slimline sub in relation to the rest of the FR that the sub plays. But you'd probably be limited to about 110 db out of it due to cutting the upper frequencies so much Plus if you needed that big of a box to help the lowend, wouldn't that be defeating the purpose of a slim sub? But yeah slim subs are generally limited to 10-12 mm excursion, which doesn't help lowend at all.

    Welcome to the IHoP

morning. I just had a HUGE bowl of cereal. it was at the end of the box and I thought there was less in there. But I kept pouring and kept justifying it by thinking the end has to be near. But it wasn't until the bowl was entirely full. Count Chocula
  20. KU40

Sealed box, Common or separate chambers?

Why is that? With reversed polarity? you don't reverse polarity in one sub if you run common chamber.
  21. Slim subs generally will not be SPL beasts. They are generally for lower wattage applications (1000 watts or under). There is no difference in sound.

    NEED TO CHOOSE

tuning is the same with slot ports as it is for round ports. If you have 20 sq. inches of round port that needs to be 10" long to tune to 35 hz, 20 sq. inches of slot port will also need to be 10" long to tune to 35 hz.
  23. this is making my head hurt.

  25. Well, don't have to believe me. But maybe you'll believe http://www.bcae1.com/. Click on item 101 on the right side and scroll down to the paragraph starting "If, in a regulated power supply....." JL modified from the traditional designs so that the 1000.1 would put out that power at all ohm loads. It's not the most typical thing. That way they wouldn't have to design a different amp to handle the impedences all their subs can run at. They can say "A W7 with single 3 ohm coil? JL 1000/1! Two W6's with a 4 ohm load? JL 1000/1! Two W3s with a 2 ohm load? JL 1000/1!"
