    Peerless Tweeter Help!

I have a peerless soft dome tweet in my HT and I like it a lot. I can't remember the product number, though. Maybe 812687? But point is that if these are similar to mine, I'd like them.

    Tuning my amp

what amp? What is this "frequency?" The lowpass crossover, a subsonic filter, bass boost center?

    All things being equal....

download winISD alpha and put them on there. You'll have to decide on specific drivers, though. Response in the box depends entirely on drivers chosen. Simply going with generic cone size won't tell you much. By that notion, the four 15s have 707 sq. inches, nine 10s have 707 sq. inches, and twenty 8s have 1005 sq. inches. But the 8s won't play as low as the 10s, which won't play as low as the 15s. Each set has its tradeoffs.

    12" Fi Q

Depending on the box you put it in, 900 watts could actually be overpowering the speaker. Thermally it will be fine, in fact it will thank you for the less power. The only thing you should have to worry about here (if you don't clip the amp a ton) is the mechanical side of the equation. If you build a box on the smaller side of FI's recommendations, the sub may not quite be playing at its limits. But if you build a box a bit larger than they recommend, you may get full output and possibly even exceed the mechanical limits of the sub with a large enough box. So, as you see, it's all in the box.

    Full tilt?

Oh we must have a miscommunication lol. After you answered what full tilt was, I asked what does phase do lol. ohhhhhh ok. Phase is referring to the subs placement in relation to the port. If the port is facing forward, and subs up, it is a 90degree phase err, no. Phase has to do with the output wave, as Bromo pictured up. You then use it to match your other speakers since they are all at different lengths from your ears, as Duran noted. So basically yeah, you just play with the setting until the wave from the sub matches those from your front speakers. Usually if the sub is out of phase with your interior speakers it will sound like it's a step behind or ahead of the interiors on midbass notes. Play with the phase setting until they sound like they're one single sound.
  8. can you just take some pictures and post them up, that would be the easiest thing by far.

    questions about BTL's

They'll handle it as well as basically any other big-boy sub, but you can still blow them with that power too.

Had my humidifier on last night and this morning my room feels like a rain cloud. Seemed to help my runny nose/sore throat a bit.

    breaking in subs

It's not important, just play it. It'll break in by itself.

    Home theater sub build

Is that a V.2 Mag? Is the port a 4 incher or 6? Looks great, and I have been very satisfied with mine. I need to build a new box for it and use it as my HT sub.

    ohms

The difference between the current pulled by an amp doing 1k @ 4 and 1k @ 1 is not usually going to be significant assuming that both are of the same topology and well designed and built. Well I was reading something the other day....maybe it was on bcae1.com? Anyways I think it had some situation where it said like 120 amps @ 4 ohms, 130 amps @ 2 ohms, and 140 amps @ 1 ohm, for the same power.

    Woofers out of phase???

try turning your box around so that the subs are facing the back of the car instead of the front.

    Welcome to the IHoP

So it appears that my gf will be moving in with me for a couple of months, until graduation in May. Her roommates are just out of control. We bought pizza on Friday night and because we hadn't taken the boxes outside to the trash by Saturday morning, they taped them to the top of her car.

    Welcome to the IHoP

Happy late birthday Sean. I haven't been on since early Friday. Sounds like I'm glad I missed that fight over FI. How retarded.
  19. i was going to suggest wood filler as well.
  20. Getting louder and having more range in the subs are polar opposites. You can only change your box to get one or the other. If you tune higher you'll get louder, but if you tune lower to get more notes, you'll lose SPL. If you lower your box size but don't increase power or tune, you'll lose SPL. Your only option here would be to create interchangeable ports, one for daily that's tuned lower and one for comps that's tuned to 45 or something. So we'll start with what notes are you missing? The lows?
