Running amp below stability?
KU40 replied to AirFramerMack's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
My guess is ask them. -
I don't think your box is big enough for ported that low unless you can find some 6" aeroports that can be 24" long so that you can use two of them.

power assisted flush ftw! One day I went into the handicap stall at work and there was crap all over the walls and floor around the toilet. I was like how in the world did that happen? Did somebody have explosive diarrhea and couldn't sit still on the thing? Then today I was in there using it and when I stood up and flushed it was like a pipe bomb went off in there. That thing seriously must flush at about 120 mph for 5 seconds. I was like oooohhhhh. I'm sure that person got it all over themselves when it flushed. Not to mention that any handicapped person wouldn't want to use it because they wouldn't be able to get up very far fast enough before it flushes. I almost leap off and across the stall to get away from it just in case.

I was at work in Topeka all day, and there it snowed for about 30 minutes. Big snowflakes but not heavily coming down. None stuck. You guys? All I know is that I'm tired of this crap.

I say port the Arsenals to 16 hz.

I doubt they'd handle 1200-1400 actual watts for very long. But you can put a 1400 watt amp on them with no problems.
-
That was my question too.

wow, how did I get in so early? Was it really nearly 5 years ago? -
Are the questions like "How would you say hello to an aborigine?" Answer- Good'day.

My eyes are droopy. Need stimulation.

Nope, The one before Stacy Dash was Melyssa Ford. Hmm I could have sworn I've seen that picture before, not in his signature. Oh well.
-
I've had signatures and avatars turned off so long (probably 8 months) that I forgot what other people had in theirs, and forgot what was in mine. Decided to update. Sean wasn't that picture Ryan1's avatar for a while?

The back plate got implants!

Anybody could tell you that they have a 1000 watt amp on each sub but unless they have clamped the outputs (99.9% haven't) there's no way to know how much they actually have going to the sub. My suggestion would be to just buy an amp with more power than they are rated for and use as much as the subs can handle.

What is with people who try to pass you immediately after the on ramp as you're waiting for a car to pass? It seems like at least once a week I have to nearly brush a guy's front bumper because he swerves into the right lane of the highway before I can get over due to letting a car pass that was already in the right lane of the highway. Are they seriously trying to make me run out of on-ramp and drive on the shoulder or ditch? WTF?

But I did have 10 cent boneless wings there a couple years ago when it was on special one lunch. That was awesome. 50 wings for 5 bucks, come on!

I'd say build a ported and tune it lowish, like 28-30 hz. But is that 6.2 cubes before displacements? If so, you don't have enough room for ported.

Just some food for thought if you haven't already- competitors build walls with the subs in front sealed off behind the baffle because it gives the subs less airspace to pressurize inside the cabin. Facing them towards the rear will make the subs have to pressurize that extra little air around the box and behind the subs. I understand your loading idea, essentially emulating a trunk that is louder with the subs facing the rear of the trunk. I hope it works, but I'm just giving you a possible reason why it may not so that you can cover all of the angles. I'm not trying to dash your dreams as I've never seen this done before so it would be interesting.
-
Generally boxes in a trunk are louder facing the rear because the subs load off of the back of the trunk. If you face the box forward some of the waves go back behind the box into the trunk, which can cause cancellation.
-
It would be retarded to put one 3500d on each sub because you'd be wasting money on buying the extra amp. One is plenty. Are you going to be able to hear the difference between 1750 watts per sub and 2000 if you give them their rated RMS? No. Plus depending on the box he builds, 1750 per sub may be too much anyways.
-
The rated power is the thermal power limit. The enclosure you put the sub in affects the mechanical power handling. So even though you may not reach full excursion until 1300 watts in the ported box, that will still exceed the thermal power handling and it's possible to fry the voice coil.
-
excursion in a box is power dependent. The 6 cube box will take less power to reach the same excursion as the 4 cube box. It's also not a given that the 6 cubic foot box will sound sloppy or have poor transient response.

The best travel? Does your music want to take a vacation to Florida?
-
How do you know that you won't reach full excursion with only 600 watts?
